Good soak with plusgas then can you clamp the BB in a vice/work bench and turn the frame? Probably only enough grip for an external BB cup using this method.

Non UST Panaracers are not recomended as they supposedly have weaker beads and can blow off the rim. However some people have tried and succeded.

Anybody know which crank puller I should be using???

    They are self extracting bolts

Just fitted mine tonight, didn't notice a narrow Q factor, there's a good 10mm gap either side. I used 2 spacers drive side 1 non with a Hope BB, 68mm shell. What did middleburn recomend?

I know what you mean about the retro appearance but they look good with a steel frame.

The Shimano ones I've used did. There's a brass pin that fits into the hose to get a square end, and the banjo is a 2 piece assembly. The olive fits over the hose and seals the system as you tighten the collar.

No, but sealant will give you puncture protection

As Bigyinn says, I have recovered contaminated sintered pads by dousing in meths and setting alight followed by rubbing braking surface down with sandpaper. I'd take the rotor off and soak it in IPA/meths to ensure all the holes get degreased.

Currently running a non UST NN on a DT 4.2 rim using a stans rims strip and sealant. No more difficult than any other non UST tyre I've tried to fit, but I do use a compressor. Any tyre has been a stuggle using a track pump.

I think they are supposed to stop any chance of the bolts coming loose. I've never used them and not had an issue, they can't do any harm if you've got them tho.

I ride down a steep road hill applying brakes hard and regularly without locking up until pads are really hot then splash water on the pads, they should sizzle if hot enough. Pads seem to last long enough having done this but I've nothing scientific to prove it.

Another vote for the Surly tuggnut. Got one on my roadrat and its so much easier to use than the standard one it replaced.

As above no encryption on my download. You can also download it more than once so you should be able to download it again direct to your work PC.

I've got a hope pro 2 with DT4.2 rear built by Merlin and a hope hoops front in the same combination (bought off CRC). The hope hopps is far better for trueness and hasn't lost tension like the Merlin build. Not sure if Hope Hoops are hand built or not, but IMO far superior to the merlin build.

I run a 9 speed front chainring on my singlespeed with a 7/8 speed chain, so yes it can be done. It appears to cause some people problems but I would suggest if you have one try it before buying a new one.

NN 2.25 weigh 570g. They appear small for a 2.25, closer to 2.1 I would say. I've only riden a couple of times, feel grippy on the front considering the current conditions, but I can't comment on durability

As above. you could also try pushing the tyre in hard with your thumb at the center of the tread level with the air valve. Seems to force the air into the tyre cavity rather than straight out if the tyre is loose.

I would say pretty good, possibly a little generous. I wear 34 waist jeans and my attacks are large. I need the adjusters pulled most of the way in.

Completely changed all my ideas about body position on a bike. Felt very alien at first but by the end of the day made complete sense. I started off with the saddle dropped down but put it back up by the end of the day, even on the relatively steep stuff, just hope I don't sink back into the bad habits. Would recommend a skills course to anyone, its already saved me the cost of the gravity dropper that I thought I must have.

Okay makes more sense now, my current forks are 400mm, 45 rake so sound fairly standard. Thanks for the help.

Edit – might need to google the Hincape reference though ❓

I know what you mean about the manuals, its a bit scary when you've got several hundred pounds worth of fork in bits in front of you that look nothing like the pictures 😯 .

They look good new, but soon start to look a bit tatty. Performance wise I immediately noticed an improvement in stiffness over my previous XT Octalink cranks. BB lasted about 6 months, now replaced with a Hope BB.

I had a problem with the forks extending very slowly when changing travel, it turned out that oil had leaked in the IFP chamber, once cleaned out the travel change issue was cured. There is a thread on MTBR about the effect of the Talas pressure which is quite interesting http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=484078
I now run with no pressure in the Talas chamber and prefer the feel of the forks, so it is probably worth trying different prssures if you have the means to alter it.

The trend on forks is towards post mount. As far as I am aware rears are always IS mount.

Truvativ state that their BBs are slightly stiff when new and loosen up after a short run in period, claim it helps improve life (sounds like BS to me). I did notice it on mine but not to the extent you're seeing. Maybe try it for a couple of rides and take it back if it doesn't loosen up.

Owen got the reception he deserved, similar to Ince when he played for Liverpool against United. Anyway as Clubber intimated Owen is an 'old Glory' Torres is the future

Oooh… good thinking Seamus, but do they do black marigolds?

The ones I got were black, but thinking about it they might have been tesco own brand.

I've used Seal-Skins for a while now, and they are great if you can stop them filling up with water! So, how do folks stop water coming down your leg?

Cut off the tops off a pair of extra large marigold gloves and and wear over the cuffs of the sealskins, stops water going down the sock. Black probably looks better than pink or yellow. 🙂

Just under 30psi front & just over 30psi rear (hardtail), don't really know why the difference, just habit I suppose. Also run ghetto tubeless on the front and proper UST on the rear due to 'burping' issues on the rear. I'm ~90kg
