A wrap of PTFE tape round on the bottom bracket cup threads cured the creak on my hope BB

My tracks is a good free app for recording routes and stats such as av speed, distance etc. Data can be uploaded to google maps and docs. I believe you can down load routes to it but have never tried.

I always leave them off and it works, that’s not to say it won’t work with them on.

If you are running the same BB keep the spacers the same. I was running a hope BB with 2 diveside and 1 non drive spacers. If you don’t like the chainline it may be possible to swap a spacer to the otherside without catching the chainstay

I’ve just got some time z controls after previously using Shimano SPDs. Can’t say I’ve noticed any difference in the ease of unclipping, I think it just becomes second nature after a while. You can reverse the cleats to change the angle of engagement, not sure which way is which but it may be worth reversing them.

I got knocked off my bike this morning at a junction. I was trying to get info off the driver, witness details etc, but was struggling as I was a little shook up.
Fortunately for me a passing Police car stopped, sorted out the driver details and wrote them down for me (i didn’t have a pen/paper) checked the driver was insured etc. and made sure I was okay.
Complete tools like the guy in the video gives us all a bad name, would the police have been quite so helpful if they had just watched that video or would I have been treated as another moronic bolshy cyclist. I’m embarrassed that the guy calls himself a cyclist.

On one do the correct headset for 1 1/8th forks in the 456C frame, smoothie mixed taper I think its callesd. Will probably fit it for you too if you order at the same time. There are so many different options now it is probably the easiest option. Think they also do a hope one that fits.

    Edit: too slow

IMO there’s plenty of room for everyone around white coppice, its a big wide path that should be a bridleway. Why should we apologise for the vagaries of the definition of whats a path and whats a bridleway. I’m all for keeping off it when it is (usually) boggy, but when its dry why not….

    Just my opinion

    You should have apologised.

You were in the wrong after all.

Used an Bonty XR4 TLP on the rear over winter, goes up easily enough with rim strip and sealant.

Moco is on the RHS, air chamber is on the left. The grey wipers seal doesn’t hold the air in. Sounds like a seal in the air chamber has gone. You will need to take the lowers off to investigate. There are good instructions on the sram website

Great place, rarely see another rider there. You get a real feeling of remoteness (for a man made trail)

Hi Ken, What bars have you fitted, they look quite shallow but with a decent length on the drops. I’m currently using midge bars but my hand feels cramped when in the drops.

I’m using an M-Part bung that I got from Evans that has been good so far, although I changed the top cap and bolt to the one that came with the headset as the carbon one with the bung seemed a bit fragile.

Looks great, the ride will be even better 😀 I made the same change from an 853 to a 456C and am loving it.

    I like the looks.

    Folk say it’s a better ride….how?

Stiffer? Lighter? More comfortable? (And if anyone says “more planted”…. )

I’m rubbish at describing the feel of a bike, but I would say stiffer, without being harsh, particularly on rocky stuff it goes were you point it – less pinging about. Didn’t really notice the weight as much as I thought I would TBH, lost about 1.5lbs compared to the pevious 853 build

They are a brilliant ride, I couldn’t beleive the improvement over the 853 inbred I had before. Most components were swithced over so it was a true comparison. Would agree that they are better with a 140mm fork , i’ve recently fitted rev u-turns.

Don’t think they quote figures. From my experience I managed to snap the bolt on mine by being hamfisted so have been quite moderate since with no issues of slipping.
The pre-load screw needs to be tightened up and then slackened so there is very slight play across the cranks, its not noticable when riding, any tighter will put stress on the bearings. The grub screw only needs to be nipped tight.

Do the RM deliver any 1st class mail within 3 days anymore? Not expecting mine before the end of next week. 🙁

Was out on Sunday morning, lower down its like a skating ring due to the partial thaw on Saturday, up near the mast the snow is about 6 inches deep and frozen, I found it impossible to ride the path across smithills moor. Apart from that it was perfect 😀

Just bought a mmmbop frame off Northwind for Seamus Jr’s Christmas pressie. With all these rave reviews I’m starting to think he’s going to have a better bike than me 😕

Standard Vs were very wide on mine(avids). I contacted Cotic as I thought I was doing something wrong and the answer was basically use shimano and they would be okay. Changed to mini vs in the end as they looked neater and plenty powerful enough.

They’re not recommended it you are running a triple chainset, not enough range

Had the same problem, hub also felt sticky so changed the 3 hub bearings but not the 2 wheel bearings as they seemed okay. Still had a couple of mm play at the rim. Have now changed the wheel bearings and the play has gone away, indicating that it was the wheel bearings. I guess a very small amount of play at the hub is magnified at the radius of the rim.

Stans has worked well with DT4.2ds for me, been using for about 2 years. Was originally going to use the DT kit but when I rang Just Riding Along they advised me to use Stans and which was the correct size.

Edit: Stans rim strips, not the yellow tape
