I gave my wife the hammer and the picture hooks one time. It didn’t require much polyfilla to put right.

The sad thing is that no matter how hard you try, there’s always some ‘***hole who will have the kit/knowledge to get your bikes if they want them.

I heard of a mate who had their bikes nicked even though it required the car, alarmed, immobilised, steering lock fitted, to be rolled out of the way of the garage door, then the various locks and anchors cut through (don’t leave your tools in the vicinity of the bikes, doh!). Certainly was to order as they left the motorbike, which could easily have been rolled out of the garage.

Bought my daughter an Adam Black for a little over £200. Great piece of kit. Can’t fault it really. Beautifully finished. pick up, preamp/tuner, XLR… And it even sounds nice too!

To be honest though, for less than £300 though being picky over tone is a bit much to ask. Look for the ones that are well finished, good action, neat and tidy fretwork, and have quality hardware (machine heads in particular).

Or, if you know your stuff get on over to ebay… If you dare.

First, get professional advice from someone independent.
    Second, get more professional advice.

I did, it put my mind to rest that someone who knew what they were talking about was thinking along the same lines as me, but crucially knew how/where/when to play with the money, or to let it lie in peace earning.

I’ve done the sensible thing – actually read the handbook AND watched the
DVD! So far the only thing I’ve ever noticed is a little stiffness/ache the following day if I have been away from the machine for a while.

Agreed, all the Corvus family are very bright. When I was a kid, one of my friends had a pet Jackdaw. It didn’t mimic much, but would caw back to you if you said his name, play fetch with a small ball, play dead, roll over, and generally act more dog than bird! Also followed us most places, but never more than about 1/2 a mile from its home.

I was a ships diver in the navy a long time ago. Diving under the hull of Ark Royal at anchor off the coast of Italy. Checking out the propellors in a soupy sea of mush, about 2m vis… I saw a dark shape flit by, we’d seen sharks about, so popped myself.

But then I heard it, the unmistakble chick and whistle of a dolphin.

Never saw it close by, but for the next 30min the b***er damn near deafened me every 10secs.

Not a spiritual experience, the annoying sod.

    3. Use cash to buy perfectly good beer.

I can’t believe that we have got this far down the list and nobody has mentioned:

    1. The Shawshank Redemption.
    2. Pulp Fiction/Reservoir Dogs
    3. No Country For Old Men
    4. Jaws
    5. Duel
    or
    6. Deliverance.

    WTF people!!

ONe to watch when driving in France – SatNav, of any kind (phone etc), that has a speed camera warning feature, even if disabled/Satnav switched off, can land you a 1300 euro fine.

Thought of these guys – http://www.bike-express.co.uk/. Maybe not the right thing, and more suited to tourists.

@Crikey – Agreed, it’s the caff’ that will kill you.

    I work offshore rigs
    3 weeks on 0600-1800,
    3 weeks home
    3 weeks on 1800-0600
    3 weeks home….. ad infinitum.

Any caffiene during the last six hour of the shift means NO sleep. And the first couple of days at home always see me sleep on the sofa at 1800, not matter what shift I’ve just come off!

Many many moons ago I bought my daughter a Marin Hidden Canyon (20″). It was vastly more expensive than the other kids bikes, but it’s been worth it.

Proper 7005 frame, and good wheels, and perfect dimensions. Only let down by low end derailleurs/crank/pedals.

The main reason for the purchase? Good shop staff, and it was light.

Son is now riding it, 8 years on. It’s a shame he is about to grow out of it.

As long as there is no hosepipe ban, get out there and madly water the grass outside you place until it is a boggy quagmire. Once they are sunk down to the hubs and spinning furiously – pop out there and film the hilarious shenanigans and sad attempts to get moving again.

    Failing that – land mines.

OK, so it’ll totally trash the grass but what larks!

Why don’t you try barking at your neighbours every time they come and go?

You’d be taken away for retraining fairly quickly.

My daughter has had her Nano for over two years. It’s dented, scratched, been dropped in soup, and generally treated terrible. The headphones died in fiarly short order, but it still works. every now and then it seems to hang, but an on/off with the hold button fixes that.
