    You’re not the only one.

18:00 on shift, 80miles NW of Shetlands.
    First six hours:
A barrel of laughs due to the guy I work with ’til midnight
    Last six hours:
A bag of annoyance due to the guy I work with from midnight

And your ratio of engines built/engine to be built Vs time to go ain’t good.

    Hamsterley good place to ride.

A bit of pre-ride prep works well:

The night before, if you can be so organised and already have to bike cleaned, spray a hefty load of WD40 (heaven forbid!) or similar stuff, onto a rag/sponge. Liberally wipe this all over the bits that get mostly covered in goop.

Obviuosly, keep it clear of bits that need to be sticky: brake pads/rotors, shifters, levers, grips…

It’ll dry off and leave a nice non-stick film.

Then post ride a gentle hosing will remove most of the gunk, no need for seal busting pressure washers, wierd chemicals and elbow grease.

A buddy who’s a policeman told me that obscuring the number plate is sure fire way to get pulled over. With all the ANPR cameras, both fixed, mobile, and in the police cars they are very hot on it.

Also having a plate that doesn’t fit the spec’s, ie wierd fonts, odd spacing, extra graphics… That’ll get you at the kerb for a bit.

I bought a Nikon D3100 a while back and it is great. As a complete noob to dSLR I was careful and read everything that came my way about entry level dSLR’s. In my case I went over budget and hit £500 to get the kit which came with extra stuff (as I now know it is called), primarily an extra longer lens.

Of course £500 can put you into the D3200 and D5100 brackets (higher numbers = better thing, rule applies in most cases)

All these cameras seem to get top marks from the boffins.

I found the D3100 simple enough to use, and also complicated enough to learn with.

As for Canon vs Nikon? Let battle commence.

Same reason that you shouldnt have one antivirus prog running – they are all crap. Get a mac.

Ooo – so Macs are, somehow, immune to viruses and other computer nasties??

Or I could just email my Credit Card details to some chap in Ukraine, probably cost me less all in all.

Stupid crash: Looking up at soaring buzzard in a clear blue sky on a sunny day on the moors, rode into one of those big clumps of grass, stopped very quickly, couldn’t unclip (?), fell over and somehow landed on my back.

Didn’t break me, but busted my camera :(

Good cheap guitars are all over the place, and getting a bargain is tricky. Don’t be afraid to buy something a bit cheap and then get it a good mender/fixer guy for a tinkering and fettle. A proper set up can make a big difference to the feel and playability.

This won’t make much difference to the sound, which on cheaper electric is limited by the electronics.

PS that Westone of Aye-Aye’s is ace. Wanted one myself years and years ago.

NF are aiming, by their own admission, to be the Nike of outdoor wear.
Nike originally made only top quality sport shoes. They still do, but also lots of fasion tat.

    The similarities are obvious.

    For that reason – Berghaus.

This one. I was only 7, and our house backed onto woodland. I would get shadows of trees on my curtains. Quite understandable really.

Wow, amazing photos. I’ve always loved shots of the Scottish mountains, mainly because they seem real and accessible. If you want to go there and climb the hill then you can do it without too much risk of death.

Went out this morning hoping to exactly this up in Teesdale, but fell off into a boggy hole and bust the camera… :-(

I had the exact same issue last week on a ’94 Muirwoods of my mates.

Yep this one is a 94(ish) Muirwoods too! Small World.

The bike is still going strong and in fantastic nick. Gradually has morphed so much that just the original frame and seatpost remain!

The Non-drive side is a metal cup (steel alloy of some sort), Non Drive is plastic, and it’s a steel frame.

And just to confirm – drive side should be a LH thread shouldn’t it? At least that’s the way I’ve always found it on Aluminium frames.

I went shopping for a new bike. A Carrera Fury was ticking all the boxes, lovely piece of kit. But sadly the staff at the local Halfords (2 different branches), were singly unimpressive and it seemed like selling the bike was too much bother.

Ended up getting a Ghost from CRC (’tis muchly brilliant), more bike for less cash.

Sorry if you work at Halfords, I’m sure there that many of you are ace.

Our Forester is ace. Will do anything a big off-roader does, and drives like a car on tarmac. Parked next to a Discovery on a sloping carpark once and could see that it had nearly the same ground clearance, bar 1/2″.

2.0X, non turbo, 05 plate. Fast enough, and not too bad on fuel.

Typical, got a stretch off work, busy with house stuff (big kitchen/dining room renovation), and a training course. Hoped fit in a ride or two this week, and it’s going to be miserable… Time to man up and get very wet and mucky and cold!

As My hair passes very quickly from too short thuggish fuzz to something decent to buffont blob in a matter of minutes I need trimming often.

NO, my own clippers are not the answer, that has been proved as a category fail event

I don’t really like or seem to agree with ANY politician. But the current encumbents have been sent into the building site by us and asked to rebuild a nice house out of the rubble left by the previous bunch. And we don’t like what they are having to do, or how its looking.

By ‘us’ I am meaning the royal ‘us’ not us in the real us sense.

Not riding, but walking. Clambered and scrambled up a wee glen to the top of a ridge on the Isle of Mull. Just as I was struggling to my feet and somewhat raspy of breath I looked up to see a chuffing great eagle sitting on a rock.. .. about 10 yds away.

I looked at it… It looked at me…

I could tell it was thinking ‘What the heck are you doing here? This is my place’

Then after deciding that I was too big to eat it spread its wings and glided silently away.

They are cool. They make fab night lights if you can find a small one.

I found a shop in Rotterdam selling them, very cool moden versions, and uber cool retro ones. Sadly, was in too much of a loaded down rush to get one.

Does it have an SD card slot? If so, get a fast card and do readyboost. It helps, and I’ve found on my Vaio P that two cards helps quite a lot!

OOoo, I’ll try that, yes, I’ve got a Class 10 card out of the camera (which has been replaced by a bigger one).

    Ta for the Idea…

My IFA really did help when it came to sourcing the mortgage.

TBH, could I have got a better deal on my own? I have no idea. What we did get was better than anything I could find myself, and the stress of searching it out was removed from me.

I don’t think I could have tolerated another of those phone calls to the mortgage companies, my right ear has not been the same since!

I have no iPhone, Android, or Garmin. Can I still do strava stuff?

Otherwise I’ll stick my SportTracker on the Nokia. :?
