I did my degree in Manchester or are you suggesting that I have no right to opinion
No I’m suggesting that Manchester clearly has lower entrance requirements

As in the English are inferior? Nothing like a bit of jock xenophobia

We will give you a free University education as long as your not a English.
You can get this if your English. Its about where you live, not your nationality

ie in England no in the rest of the EU yes. The Scottish government are not being stopped from allowing the English free education they just choose to do it.

. Northwind – Member The only oddity is that we’re legally obliged to fund EU applicants. This wouldn’t be done “if we had a choice”

. As stated you have got a choice you choose not to take it.

Chin up, cock, your oppressed English kids might get a cheap quality Scottish uni education under EU reciprocity rules if Scotland goes independen

l doubt it I am sure they will find ways round it. And who is paying for there cheap education? The sooner we get rid of the blood sucking leaches the better. The whining just gets right on my nerves

The other day I saw a Scottish flag flying in a garden in Lincolnshire, what would happen if you flew an english flag in Scotland? How long would it be before they torched your house?

Are you confusing Scotland with Afghanistan don’t think so

For those who don’t quite comprehended what xenophobic means. We will give you a free University education as long as your not a English.
I’m guessing that wasn’t the only reason you failed to get a place
What makes you think I would ever want to go to that disgusting country? I did my degree in Manchester or are you suggesting that I have no right to opinion unless I have degree (no doubt in sociology)

Nice and abrupt though, I’ll give you that. But hardly original

As one jock said to me “I would never buy an English man a drink” obviously after I had bought him one. Also “I would never give a English man a job” he was working for an English firm in Lincolnshire. Murray’s xenophobic remarks says it all. GOOD RIDDANCE

I’d avoid attaching anything that’s going to be carrying heavy loads to your seat post – it can make handling a bit tricky if you’re heading downhill as the weight/force from the trailer is so high off the ground

Good point I live in a valley so no way of avoiding hills. Although it is a basic requirement to cycle very slowly down hill with any decent load as the bike over takes you if you brake hard!! Unlikely to be off here as prices lock reasonable on Ebay particularly as there is one near me which will probably go for £25. The same as the 1st Ebay one I described. Thanks to both of you. JB

Odd one this many years ago I bought a pump for a front suspension and it fits car type valve. There is no resistance when pumping up the tyres. Can get it to any pressure I want. Not a lot heavier than a standard one!

Prawny “No Waitrose? Still a shithole then”

Is it that good? Or just selling Tesco goods but with extortionate prices? As I conned Lewis’s into giving me a £25 gift voucher I will have to find out as have no idea where there is a Lewis’s.

+1, although I’d go further and point out the vast majority of students get by on about £4,500/p.a. loans and don’t top it up with a job.

It’s all about expectations. If you expect a house to yourself in a nice area, a new car and a holliday somewhere exotic, you’re going to be sorely dissapointed. Get a house with some mates, live without a car and holliday in the UK and you can live for peanuts. Other than bike parts I never wanted for anything.”

RUBBISH Mummy and Daddy are supporting them. My daughter had 2 jobs going while at Nottingham University. She wasn’t getting any support from me and would doubt from her mother.

PS housing cost in the south? Trying looking at how many second homes there are, last estimate 300,000 And that does not included foreigners who buy London homes as an investment and never occupy them.

I’m looking at coming back to live in the UK, after not paying tax abroad for a while. I earn what I thought was a decent ish salary, but after tax/NI etc it’s looking increasingly like living hand and mouth. I’ve no idea how young families, nurses and teachers etc cope.

I’ve been looking at rent in the suburbs of London and my eyes are watering. You can’t get a 1 bedroom flat for much less than £250 a week.

Whats more lots of people seem to have new cars, take holidays abroad, buy new carbon road bikes…where the hell does all this money come from?”

Nurses and teachers? Hardly the poor. I know home helps in Manchester who are paid £7 an hour. Have to use there own car (and therefore higher insurance), pay for there petrol and get paid only when they arrive at the job. 12 hour a day 6 days a week just to get the equivalent of minimum wage. They do this by making them self employed. They are the poor, they are the ones that deserve your sympathy not the well of teachers and nurses. I know of many many examples of this. I live on less than £200 a week pension (disability) although to be honest I don’t find it that much of a struggle as I own my house and have not got a car (epilepsy). Example I shot 3 pigeons in my garden yesterday. Or put another way I have the time to be frugal. How the hell someone working 12 hours a day cope?

He is correct pity about his choice of words, as that just gives the politically correct middle class (so called) liberals a way of calling UKIP racist. If you given aid for the poor they just reduce there government spending on the needy by the same amount. India is prime example. If we are going to give aid at least we should choose what to give it for AND to be on the ground to see that’s what it is being used for?

I can see a group of horses at the top all egging their mate on – you can roll it! Go on! Do it! Dobbin did it last week. Go on!

and then all running off when ti goes wrong.

Nah the new owner of the land has 2 horse there and she was so worried when I told her she spent a furtune on proper wood fences. At first she even put an electric fence to keep them away from the wood fence. Should have left it there as one of her horses lent over the fence and head butted me in the back because I was ignoring her. I was not happy as I was cutting down a tree with chainsaw at the time. You would have thought the noise would have scared it off??

Horse is regularly on the menu in my work cafeteria. Not sure what all the fuss is about in the UK & Ireland.

The actually reason the Irish were worried is that some horses have had a medical injestion which never leaves there body and may be dangerous to people. The horse passports were supposed to solve this ie it was not illegal to sell horses for food just the ones that had had the injection BUT the passports were being abused and thats why they were checking the food in the first place.

A horse rolled down the hill into my garden once (before I moved in) and they had to chop it up to get it out, what a waste. Worse still after fencing that off a cow rolled down another part of the hill into my garden during the severe rain we had a few years back. It was a lovely Lincoln red broke its leg. Insted of killing it with the gun they injected it so the meat couldn’t be eaten what a waste (yes they fenced of that bit to now). The only good thing I can say is the new owner sold me the bit where the horse came down although it is vey steep so I will have to spend a furtune terrace it.

Very depressed they threw all that meat away. I would have had it the price would be sooooooooo cheap. I normally only buy from butchers but I would make an exception at the price they would have had to flog them at. Buy one get a trolley load free!

I had no intentions of not swithching of the mains as I said above.

Still illegal as if you forgot to switch off the mains you could easily kill someone working to try and restore the mains supply and then you’d be up for a manslaughter charge.

You must fit a switch which isolates the mains supply when the generator is connected (break before make). There is a reference to some on the other thread.

footflaps, BEng Electronics, also ex Norweb Sub Station Engineer…..

Get a grip of yourself thats why I am asking the question. I was not asking the question, who can be the most sniggering tosser on here! It was question not statement of what I was going to do.
I am now bored and am going outside to dig a well as my water is off. If I don’t find water by 5pm I am going to ride to the pub and drink theres and possibly some other stuff called beer.

If you just rig a plug backwards into a socket, your generator will be attempting to power 1/3 the houses in your street. It will fail.

Unless you need it often, you’re better off just rewiring your boiler into a 13A plug instead of a fused spur, then running that, a bunch of (low energy) table lamps and a laptop/telly from an extension cable or two from the genny. Avoids blowing the whole lot up when the power comes back on.
I had no intentions of not swithching of the mains as I said above. Yes electric is off alot but not normally for long periods
BUT the electric workers at the last 18 hour breakdown said the wiring to the village is 1940s and they will no doubt be in no rush to replace. I did have a plug fitted to the boiler BUT I don’t know if it will work. Basiclaly I could supply power to it but not (I think) to the timers. I hope it would still coome on (but don’t know) based on the tempreture ie it comes on when tempreture drops in the boiler to 5 degrees.

Bought a Miele 7 years ago shouldn’t have, as I live alone I will probably have to leave it in my will to one of my daughters which will just course arguements. Buy Miele if you are going to get use out of it IE you got 10 kids.
serious consideration to a spinner. This is a device for removing some extra water from your clothes before drying them. They spin at 2700rpm and take half wash load. Roughly it will take an extra pint out of each half load. Cost about 80 pound from Asda. Look around 2nd hand a lot of people buy and don’t use them…lazy sods. Either way should get your money back.
PS bought a 2nd hand one for 30 pound but bought it for making cider. Spin speed is so high it takes out more juice than a press.
PPS bought a 2nd hand garden shreeder for choping up the apples.
PPS Never used either for what they are made for!

Bide your time keep look for free or massively subsidised. Got mine free including fitting 12″, Although it was based on low income. Also bought triple rools for 1 pound each. In the latter case it was carbon trading by a electric company. Delivery was free as it happen neighbours a builder says not worth fitting as the savings is minimal. So giving it away to people who ask for it on freecyle.

-11 last night horrible in my house as the boiler is in the attic and comes on when the tempreture in the boiler drops below +5 but only goes round the system once. Bloody roasting will have to put a lower tog on the bed.
