    I delved into the twitterverse.
    It’s -really- boring.
    🙁

I like his threads. I’m not sure why, there’s something quaint about them.

+1 for GiffGaff. The data is unlimited, but they have cut a few people off (but they were downloading GBs day in day out, using their phone as a modem which is against their T&Cs)
Me and my girlfriend are on it, we get free calls and texts to each other and any other GiffGaff users.

And I know how annoying it can be when people suggest a lifestyle that you just wouldn’t feel happy with (like couchsurfing for example) and then blaming you for not doing it

OP: No blame intended. Maybe a little bit of a kick-up-the-jacksie, but if it floats your boat, go for it. (They’re not all hippies either).

Couchsurfing.org – fantastic community of travellers. As long as you’re willing to put some time and effort into your profile, people all over the world will be more than happy to have you stay on their sofas and show you around their cities.
    For free.

It’s also a vibrant community in itself with local meets and the like.
You have no excuse. Do it now.

The floating voters are a small minority who get to decide which way an election swings, and generally have little understanding of politics compared to committed voters.

What is it about politics that eludes those who do not consistantly vote for one party? What is the deeper understanding that those who always vote for the same party hold?

Sometimes, scuzz, sometimes not. We’re currently investigating the effects of sugar and diet on our minds and bodies…

Good shout. Sugar gets me every time – complete despair around 3 hours after a lot of refined sugar, leading into a spiral which can last for hours. It’s fine during the day, hard during the evenings. After realising this and keeping track, it’s become manageable.

Sorry for the mini-threadjack, but molgrips, does your missus have an after dinner cup of tea with sugar?

It’s the same with Guitarists too.
Oh you play through a solid state amp? There’s no way you can get a decent tone out of your stock humbuckers. Shredders aren’t musicians, Jazz is the only path to being a ‘true guitarist’. PRS? Bedroom guitarist. The list is endless.

It can be found in all walks of life where there is a group of people. I’m looking at you, spliff politics.

My personal opinion? The thought of petty bitching simply doesn’t occur to those who are happy.

I rarely have a clue what going on in the world, I never watch the news, or read newspapers.

Same here, actively. But passively, there are Metro headlines everywhere, news tickers on TVs in stations, conversations… when you’re surrounded by it everyday, it’s hard to passively ignore it – simply catching sight of sensationalist Metro headline when I’m a little bit too tired just makes me lose faith in humanity; not because of the news portrayed, but because everyone eats it up in droves.

It’s a bit like watching Pro Golfers on a crazy golf course; very bizarre!

No, but at that price what have you got to lose? It’s a D-A converter – how bad can it be when it’s processing TV audio?

    Good point, well made.
Looks like I got the last one from Play. Thanks for the advice!

    What’s the source?

Inbuilt FreeviewHD tuner in a telly. Headphone socket is the only analogue out. Unsure if it’s got a PCM/2ch setting, but we’ll see when it gets delivered.

Sub….. is slower than speed of light. Is there similar terminology for it?

    Submarine!
    Geddit?

    My vote is for Superluminal.
Something is supersonic when it travels faster than the speed of sound in the medium from which to speed of sound is defined

It’s reasonable to have a word for something that travels faster than light travels in a medium which is not a vacuum, such as glass [~ (2/3)*c].

It’s not, else they’d be rocket racing.

The Psychologist (and only expert) they quote Dipl.-Psych. Christoph Möller[/url] isn’t a specialist in this area. He deals with addiction in adolescents and children.
Also, they link to a Slashdot comment – read all the comments for hilarity 🙂
I also enjoy how they say people not on ‘social networks’ are suspicious, and then goes on to say

Breivik, who murdered 77 people with a car bomb and mass shooting

used Myspace. Since when is Myspace not a social network? Unlikely, but begs the question whether someone at Facebook commissioned this….

Like the gay nightclub analogy I doubt they could refuse your entry.

Just to reiterate – a nightclub reserves the right to deny entry to anyone for no reason. Gay clubs may turn you away if you look too straight. They may turn you away if you are part of a large group of women on a hen night. A simple ‘not tonight mate’ is all that’s required.

Unless you multiply whatever number you’ve got after truncating it by 10^n in order to make it an integer,

    You don’t mean 3 and… 3, do you?
