Is a £1000 gaming PC really going to give that much of a better gaming experience than an Xbox 360 you picked up off ebay for £60?

    Yes.
    ^This.
I liken it to high-end audio, HiFi stuff. Very high resolution, anti-aliased graphics are sublime. Playing a console after playing on a top-spec PC is like listening to music though laptop speakers after Quads ‘n’ KEFs.

I love techy/shiny things, but you can’t beat the press-the-power-button-and-away-you-go nature of consoles. Cheap, effective, simple and comparatively robust.

Red ring of death / Yellow light of death, anyone?

It’s a decent spec, note that it doesn’t come with a monitor.
For perspective, if you were to get the same spec from scan.co.uk as separate components and build it yourself, it comes to around ~£820 (this is rough and ready, using midrange components for anything not specified, eg motherboard).
You’ll probably be fine with an i5 (say, 3570k) instead of an i7. You’ll probably want a nice sound card (makes a massive difference to games) – the alienware doesn’t come with one.
    Have a look at this:
    Scan Premade System
Better graphics card, double the storage space, comes with a sound card, also comes with an SSD (very fast hard drive), for £50 more than the Alienware

‘ere, Stoner! Ya Coffee table’s got a hole in it! What good’s that? 😉
The day I get rid of my bookshelf is the day I install a touch screen, low wattage TV in its place that lets me (and anyone else) see all of my ebooks, and flick them over to the handheld reader.

I did not know that there was a Journal of Near-Death Studies which ran from 1987 to 2003.
A brief look at some abstracts tells me that the evidence comes from the mouths of those who had near death experiences (…obviously).
It has been proposed that a load of DMT is released in the body near to death. You’ll see all kinds of stuff when your body is full of DMT…

However, the motive described remains as foreign military occupancy.

    Thanks for the info loum.
I’m interested to know whether religion plays a part in where they view their homeland / prized territory to be.

    Allow me to enlighten you

You’re aware that you’ve belittled someone’s belief and are now belittling someone else, right? While, at the same time, taking offence that you have been belittled. Also, you’ve ignored my questions, while claiming to simply want an intelligent discussion.
    What’s up with that?

You have adopted beliefs that you know, or at least suspect, are wrong.

    What’s your point?

2: You try to convince strangers that you know nothing about and have never met, on a website forum, that you “love” them. This sounds like some sort of neurotic displacement activity to me.

    Again, what’s your point?

For these points to matter, you’re assuming that these activities are in some way wrong. Kant, is ought and all that:
    How are they wrong?

The Mail has an article with slightly more information:

No details of singer-songwriter Mr Belmonte’s injuries were given in court.

he was an experienced cyclist, was fully aware of the road at the time and did not have any headphones in.

Neither article suggests that a helmet had anything to do with it – the case was about the policeman’s driving, not about cyclist.

While it’s irksome that they mention the lack of a helmet, I don’t think they’re trying to imply that he should have worn one.

When you start to impose them on others or claim special treatment is when many people start to object

This is an argument for secularism (separation of church & state)
molgrip’s statement was about atheism (lack of belief in god) and the arguments atheists hold.
The two are different issues and should not be so casually linked together, lest threads like these arise…

it’s a lot harder to trash religion if you consider it a simply spiritual issue. As many many religious people do.

And athiests, I might add. 🙂

As a Premier user, you can still Tag – but only when you post. This makes it easier for the mods to trace the tagger.

    With great power… 🙂

when i first joined a ‘debate’ on here i was pulled up by some for being ‘new’

Your alias is similar to an old alias used by a member who was repeatedly banned. Some people thought you were that person returning with a new alias – that’s all. 🙂

    My thoughts:
    I enjoyed the tags too.
I don’t want post count [You can see their forum history if you’re that interested]
I don’t want rep or thanks.
If user type tag were to exist, it should be a choice the user makes from a selection.
Premier users can have custom ones.

is there not a torrent client that can mask torrent traffic scuzz?

Azureus allows for some level of encryption which allegedly prevents it (there’s a page on the site I linked you for avoiding traffic shaping) but I’m unsure how effective it is.
uTorrent can do similar, but the newest version is allegedly bloated… Do a quick google of the best version and grab that version from filehippo.com.
Personally, I use kTorrent or whatever the default client is on KDE linux (world: I have permission from all copyright owners)

I’m expecting there’ll be more content; GTA IV was this console generation’s GTA III. Compare SA with III to see what a few years’ development can yield from the same hardware – fun times ahead.

Completed. How many times can they ask the same question in slightly different ways? Sheesh.

They’re subtly different, I welcomed it. I’m usually in the ‘That question is too specific, I don’t think like that’ camp, but each theme had a variation I felt comfortable agreeing with.

It’s funny you should post this up, when I read the thread I was listening to a TED talk about masculinity and feelings.

What is needed is a “conscious revolution” where those of us who are not insane or delusional, begin to work together for our own better good and to ensure the future of our race!

You’ve just planted a seed of elitism, which will blossom with time and influence into power, followed by tyranny.
    You will be corrupted.
You will turn into that which you fight.

    multiple Religions.
There’d be peace if there was only one.

it is fairly safe to assume that the taxpayer will be funding.

This is exactly why we have a welfare system. As a tax payer, I welcome my money helping to prevent Dead Baby.

Or do you think he has never been guilty of inciting racial hatred ?

This, from what little I’ve seen of his 100 or so videos. I find aggressive atheists as hypocritical as many, but don’t want him silenced any more than I want evangelical Christians and hard-core Muslims silenced.

I very very much hope he doesn’t.

Mars lacks the heavy metals in its core to give it the mass to then gain gravity, and that’s insurmountable

Currently sure, but we found da Higgs, who knows what awesome sauce gravity manipulation technology is around the corner!

I’m thinking next time I’m just going to wax lyrical about the relative merits of Nvidia GPUs over comparative AMD offerings.

It’s really weird hearing someone’s argument out loud as a spiel like this. I’m listening and want to click on hyperlinks to supporting evidence, as if it were a blog post or wiki. There’s this weird ‘click’ thing where I expect to see a hyperlink… I think my brain is broken.

The public, broadly, has an insatiable appetite for bad news.

    That’s Exactly It.
I’m not going to suggest there’s some shady lizard somewhere controlling it all – no group of people is that organised – but this factor of society really grates on me. Does anyone know if they have tabloids in other cultures? Say, Japan or Papua New Guinea…?
