Anything branded as 100% Whey shold do the job. I’ve tried all sorts, but have gone back to the stuff you can pick up at asda. Exactly the same nutritional value, tastes alright, £5+ cheaper

Casien Whey at night (you should be taking a shake 30 minutes after a work out, i work out at about 7:30 for 1hr+. Casien is a slow release protien so it’ll see you through the night and keep your muscles fed as the repair/grow (which they only do when you’re sleeping))

    100% Whey in the morning

    Dick.

Stormtrooper refers to full face/body amour, which this fella is obviously not wearing. You might want to do some research in to how a neck brace works and which injuries it prevents. Speed and ‘gnar’ are not always contributing factors to neck injuries.

Would i wear one? Probably not.

Should we be laughing at someone that wears protection whilst participating in a sport that has before left people paralised from neck injuries? No.

After having a look about i think it’ll be best if we just stick to the YHA, only £10 pp.

So do Mongolians get pissed when people with Downs Syndrome are refered to as Mongs? Probably not.

There are bigger issues to worry yourself with, this isn’t one of them.

molgrips, my back seats come up once every few months and when they do i have to apologise profusly for having to make my passengers sit in mud and oil. A van would mean that this never happened, and i’d be alot less consious of the state i was leaving it in.

Looking at getting something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-TRANSIT-CONNECT-T200-L75-SWB-RED-2004-54-000-MILES-/320770128663?pt=UK_Commercial_Trucks&hash=item4aaf63bb17

dogs/bikes/clubs/rubbish/fridges all in the back, no problems. I might also look at fitting a 3rd folding seat in the rear in case of emergencies.

    Absolutely hate them.

I ran 2.1 f/r. Although the front never actually washed out on me i felt like i was constantly fighting against the bike to keep upright. The rear used to spin out regardless of pressure when climbing anything other than a straight smooth slightly damp trail.

I sacked them off after 4 rides and got a advantage/crossmark and i couldn’t be happier.

I’ve just bought a house with my girlfriend, do you know how much stuff i’ve had to do to be allowed to spend £1k on bike bits?

It’ll more than likely be second hand.

Oh yeah i forgot, i’ve probably got about £800-1000 for both the frame and fork and anything else i’d need to get it running (post, clamp, headset etc)

Nothing wrong with the price. Seems about right to me.

I willing to bet 90% of the people scoffing in this thread about “being under the thumb”, or “lololol i’d never ask a woman for anything” are either:

    A) Virgins

    B) Single

    or

    C) Single Virgins

I never ask. But i always mention that i’ve got a ride planned at the weekend, or that tomorrow evening i’m planning to go out. That way she has chance to remind me about something i’ve forgotten.

But that long pause, that means “i’d rather you stayed in with the kids while i stay in bed or get ready. You’re so selfish, all you care about is that fu##ing bike. Fine do what you want. I’ll see you later!”

As the name suggests, i’m from/living in Scunthorpe.

45 minutes to the peaks is optimpistic, i got to Cut Gate last Sunday in an hour. You could easily get to Wharncliffe in 45 minutes though.

Other than that theres not a great deal. I’ve not been to Lee Quarry, but as it’s quite close to Leeds i wouldn’t imagine you’d be driving for more than 1:30hr max.

Market Rasen is members only, but from what i’ve heard it’s not worth the trip. I only live 30mins away and i’ve never bothered. A wall ride, some planks of wood and some flat ‘downhill’, no ta.

You could get a days riding round here but you’d have to know where you were going and 50% of it would be road.

In short, i drive out to the Peaks every week. I’ve not found anything else worth driving to in under 2 hours.

Cut Gate on a rigid bike. My arms hate me now. I nearly died towards the end as well, need to spend a bit more time in the gym!

I cant think off the top of my head. Each one had different gusset’s etc, but search for Barracuda Subway, Brand X (crc sold them about 1/2 years ago) even the identiti frame has the same specs.

    scunny

Yeah that’s the one. frame with a thousand names (that doesn’t mean it’s bad though)

I’d look at some old isis cranks personally (truvative husselfetl etc), BB’s last longer, cheaper, in most cases just as strong.

I presume you mean FSA pig?

I’ve not heard about them for ages, but i remember picking a set up about 5 years ago and thinking they were made of forged iron.

would you be able to post a link to the frame you’re buying?

If i’m correct then it’s a catalogue frame, the same as a baracuda subway, Brand X (crc) and many others. I had one way back when, not a bad frame.

The pinch bolt allows for movement on the spindle, allowing the fit to warp under stress. Primo have a pinch bolt but offer a hex design axle, as opposed to the 8 spline found on most cheaper BMX pinch cranks.

Just my opinion (8 years riding BMX), so do as you will. But at least we’ve sorted the bb issue.

    – After some internet hunting, it would seem your frames got a 68mm bb

Yeah, they’ll fit. But honestly, i wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.

All of these are lightyears ahead in quality. But just remember you may need to buy a Euro BB to fit them, the cranks i’ve listed are all 19mm spindle which allows for the bb to contain larger bearings (better!). Primo cranks are indestructible, but they run a 22mm spindle which make the bearings in a euro bb tiny so they’re best avoided unless you’re running a Mid BB.

    Perhaps.

I’ve got an old 18″ inbred with a 90mm stem that she’s been sat on today so i could get an idea of size. She was really stretched out, so i’m definitely looking at a 50mm (ish) stem on a 14″/16″ frame.

    Ahhhhhhh.

Nah, UN52 is just the model number. They did a UN52 and a UN72 (think deore/XT). The numbers don’t represent shell size.

Either way, if you buy a euro bb for BMX style cranks (which is what i presume you’re taking about) it’ll come with the correct amount of spacers to fit either size bb shell.

    Long legs.

I’ve got some f120’s in the shed that have a stripped brake mount, i’m gonna retap it and then she can have em. XT group set, so it’ll be a pretty nice bike. I’ll have a look in the classifieds/ebay and see what pops up.

I may be shooting myself in the foot here. Sunday’s away riding is my escape, what if she wants to come? :(

She’s 5’5, 110bs. I’m in 2 minds, i can buy her a decent (men’s ?) frame for the same price i’d be able to get her a shit female specific frame. Annoying part is i doubt she’ll ever notice a difference, it’s only me thats bothered and its not even my bike!

    scunny

The bottom bracket will be 68mm or 72mm.

Yes, you’ll need a euro bb, one like this for example:

    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/odyssey/euro-bb-ec021294?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=froogle&utm_campaign=froogle

But first you’ll need to pick some cranks as you’ll have a 19mm (profile/DMR/Wethepeople) or 22mm (primo/odyssey) axle to pick from. After that you’ll be able to buy the correct bb.

Maybe i should. But, if it was a simple mistake then Ian could have explained and the issue been dealt with without ‘shaming’. I think his response speaks volumes.

massively over reacted including calling us all mentally handicapped.

I choose to ignore a number of personal insults, and addressed it with a broad statement. If you choose to take it personally then that’s on you, it was directed at the few on here that were getting a little too excited.

I’ll save any other replies till the issue has been resolved. But Ian, please read your original sale thread and show me where you stated ‘Sold as seen”?

You described the hub as a QR bulb, which it’s not. It’s a bulb shell/bearings with Pro2 QR adaptors.

It was fun for a while, but i’ll leave now and wait and see what happens. STW has a reputation for having a more mature user group, but I’m sure some of you are .
