Now if you could just teach BMW drivers where there indicators are and that 4 feet is not an acceptable distance to travel from the car in front.

Hi mate, i’m a PI lawyer by trade, i specialise in motorbike claims but it only takes me 10 mins to knock up a letter of claim for you, or if they continue to mess you around, to draft the Small Claims court documents.

My work email is paul.whitlock@cogentlaw.co.uk if i can be of any help.

I ordered one of the mmmbop frames in the CRC sale, does anyone else's come up really short? Used to riding a 17.5" Cove Stiffee and and a 18.5 Trek EX8 full sus, my new 18" ragley frame feels like it is much shorter than either to the point of feeling like I am sat very much on top of it and banging my knees on the bars when i turn?

I think you can get away with a shorter steerer if the top stem bolt clamps it, which your post sounds like it won't?

Both stem bolts have to clamp the steerer.

Thanks for all your help Brant, much appreciated and great frame, keep up the good work.

Brant, thanks for that, but no need, i'll try just using the guide and no other spacers, sure it will be fine. I'm no mechanic, more of a bodger, i wasn't sure what effect having the extra 2.5mm in there would have.

I was just itching to take it for it's maiden voyage tonight though.

    Thanks again.

Brant, thanks for coming back to me in person.

Anyone know if i can get away with running the chain guide still? It would throw everything out by 2.5mm, i can't send it back to CRC as it has been fitted now.

I did use the "persuader" to give it a great big whack, did up the BB either side as tight as i could get it, measured the width of the chain guide making sure it was 2.5mm like the spacers.

Pushed the drive side of the crank through and whacked with the persuader, then went to attach non drive side crank arm and put in the plastic widget (not sure of real name) before doing up the crank bolts and noticed that I couldn't.

I think the worst thing i ever googled was when looking for a replacement for a well know multi tool and put in……Leatherman.

I spoke to the ison guy as Bikeradar Live, he said that the first order of frames to be imported had already sold without anyone actually riding one.

They are taking orders for the second batch but not sure as to when they will actually receive them as yet, i think you have to effectively go onto a waiting list.

RB – I don't suppose you want to swap your Pikes for a set of Fox 36 2007 Talas 110-150mm adjustment?

If so email is in profile.

What about a Cove Stiffee? i bought one cheap off the classifieds to build up for a bit of fun, and now hardly ride my full sus, fit big tyres and you don't feel like your riding a hardtail a lot of the time, great fun, ridden it for XC, downhill and had a ball on it recently at Chicksands 4X course.

Thanks Mr Mills, i thought that would be the case but i know what i'm like, i do most of my bike fettling with a hammer to variable results! My luck id whack the pin out and not get it back in.

    Cheers.

I already have the remote on the old post and a new Joplin with the lever, I want to swop the lever and the remote between the 2 posts.

It appear that the lever and the smaller "lever" that the remote actuates are attached my a small round pin eiher side or all the way through, but i cannot see how to take them off. Any ideas?

A friend who shall remain nameless, got drunk at a family christmas, got a bit "confused" during the night as to where he was and apparently took the xmas tree to be outside and pissed all over the presents underneath including a very fine cashmere jumper!

Contact your insurer, they can run a thing called a MIDIS search which will tell if it insurered and can request the DVLA registered owner of the vehicle.

Then contact their insurer and the Police and get a statement taken from the witness.

If they are not insured, make sure gives a physical description of them and sue them via small claims court.

For something different what about South America, Peru and Bolivia offer some fantastic riding, did Macchu Piccu with a bike and the Road of Death in Bolivia, 64km of downhill with stunning views.

The people and weather are great too.

I'm now on my second EX8, having had a 2008, I now have a 2009 that i brought off the classifieds here.

I like the fact that they do the 18.5" medium/large size, i've owned Santa Cruz Superlight and Heckler before and this bike pitches itself in the middle perfectly, i'm not the lighest of people and still surprised at the inclines I can get up, and then always surprised that with just 130mm at the front how well it holds a line flying back down.

The only difference I make between riding my local Surrey/ Swinley trails and heading to Wales or Scotland is to swap from 2.1 Nevegals to 2.35 Maxxis Minion or High Rollers.

Here's mine with 90% of the parts coming from the ST classifieds

I was using to shorted seatpost and traced the cracking sound in rear end of EX8 to the fact that too litle seatpost was in the frame, pushed it further in and the really discontering creaking noicse stopped instantly.

If you can pick up a copy of Mountain Bike Action, the american mag in WH smiths or somewhere, they always have loads of ads for different racks etc that fit pick ups as so many Yanks drive them, we used to have one that used sucker pads on the rear window when we were over there.

I'm amazed, knowing from previous threads the forums usual thoughts on coloured bolts, coloured cables and the like, i think i've escaped very lightly. Cheers fellas.

sorry Stevo, never really got the trying to out niche each other, there some lovely weird and wonderful bikes out there, but i believe that gears and suspension were invented for a reason… mostly to help slightly rotund fellas like me get up hills.

Total cost about £1050, the cranks and Joplin seatpost are carried over from another build. I've tried to use best of everything, Gore cables, Goodridge hoses, Easton carbon bars, Straitline brake levers, Chris King headse, so i don't think it was to bad and certainly cheaper than I could afford to do it all new.

Hopefully not cracked, although with my bulk on it, who knows..

Not sure about the cheap frame, best frame/ bike i've ridden, i've had the Santa Cruz etc, but find this best fit and best ride of all the bikes i've owned.

I'm impressed, i thought i was opening myself up a real mickey taking, especially as i got a little carried away by the time i got blue chainring and bottle cage bolts.

Hora.. i'll have a word with the Forestry Commission about the weeds, apparently they've let trees grow all over the place too!

Crocodillian..the positioning of my helmet is not something i thought i'd discuss with another man.
