The only things I’d say is I’ve got DT 4.1’s now. There the same weight as X717 but wider.
Now some people say there made of cheese and apparently the metal is less dense than on the mavic’s to achieve the same weight but larger area. I personally I prefer the extra width and I have damaged them so I doubt your gf could either.

“It’ll only be used for XC and a few trail centres, nothing too extreme and certainly no jumping, so surely a XC717 will be fine.”
The answer is yes
scu98rkrFree MemberXC717 will be fine for your girlfriend.
Does she do much riding already ? If not she’ll appreciate the extra speed.
Im about just 12 about stone myself and my gf is 8 stone. Theres absolutely no way she’d damage a XC717. She likes to have as quick a bike as possible.
scu98rkrFree MemberDoes any one still argue against the m25 rule ?
I’ve lived in London for 3 years now and it seems perfectly reasonable.I still have to tell people im originally from Birmingham when I’m from Lichfield staffs which is outside the toll road. So its not like it doesnt apply to other places.
scu98rkrFree MemberAre you looking at the BBC weather forecast ? Like this ?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1769
Basically this gives the worst possible weather for the day, as people tend to complain more is the weather is worse than predicted rather than better.
So basically the weather forecast was saying it was going to be worse on Sunday than Saturday which it was.
Theres only so much data that can be contained in a single symbol !
You might be better off looking at something like this
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ukweather/
Again it doesnt predict the weather perfectly but it does give you some ideas of when rain fronts are going to cross the country and how big / long they will last.
scu98rkrFree MemberTo be honest I would of thought fire XC would be fine.
I was using Michelin XC AT’s, which I tend to find a bit more slippy than fire XC.
Ok the first lap out it was pretty bad but after that it was fine, I was glad I had a reasonably fast tyre on the fire roads / ups and I managed to over take a fair few people here.
scu98rkrFree MemberWell surely Kaka is more likely to spend the money, than shiek abu whatever is.
So basically by paying kaka he’s taking money from some UAE bank account and transfering it to Manchester.
Kaka may then employ plumber etc in Manchester. He might buy a new car in the UK so surely it will help people in the UK.
The people who should be complaining about this are the residents of abu dabai in the UAE. Basically this is their oil money and their extremely rich royal family is just transfering 100m’s to Italy / UK.
Although supposedly this is because sport the best value form of advertising and will help abu dabai in the long run with tourism etc.

My name is earl – 85 episodes … so far
Scrubs – 154 episodes … so farIf you look at good british comedy’s ie
Blackadder – 24 episodes
Father Ted – 25 episodes
Faulty Towers – 12 episodesThere simply isnt enough material from the original to make that many episodes and make them all feel different.
scu98rkrFree MemberIts because every episode is almost the same and you feel like your wasting your life listening to the same clichés again, but at the same time it is actually quite funny.
Same goes for scrubs you like the characters + jokes are funny but once you’ve watched about 3 episodes you realise its the same thing again and again and again. I mean the jokes are good but really how they got more than about 6 episodes out of it ???
scu98rkrFree Member“Kicking a dog doesnt help”
What the original poster doesnt seem to understand is different people have different agenda’s. He needs to emphathise a bit more.
For instance if the OP’s dog, which you dont know is running towards you and you think it might bite you and you kick it and then it runs away. Then that does “help” you from you point of view. Your unlikely to see the dog again and it didnt bite you.
However it doesnt “help” the OP as it upsets his dog.
The OP doesnt seem to realise were all trying not to upset his dog.
scu98rkrFree MemberI pretty much agree with Big Dummy
I quite like thrills, and am happy to seek them occasionally. But a lot goes on my my bike rides besides looking for thrills. In any given ride I may choose, in no particular order, to seek: thrills, novelty, companionship, a sun-tan, photographs, cake, that pleasant feeling of being quite knackered but not too far from home or somewhere interesting to visit.
But I think theres one point he’s missed out, and thats that mountain biking CAN give all these different experiences.
Alot of other sport arent so diverse for instance I like footy but I cant say I fancy popping out to spend 6+ hours playing footy.
I like being outdoors so maybe I could go and play golf for 6 hours but then I cant mid course try and do something daring which will get my adrenalin going.
The best thing about mountain biking is if you’ve got a bike that isnt too light/heavy you can use it for lots of different types of activity even just transporting your self around ! Where as other with sports/activities theres not so much variety.
