My go !
I reckon its sacro illiac joint dysfunction.
This one helped me -> SELF-TRACTION SUPINE
look at SELF-TRACTION SUPINE on the link
PS it takes along time to do it right honestly it took me about six months. You would benefit from doing some situps first and stretching the backs and particularly the front of your legs.
You honestly need to put alot of traction in your while keeping your core tight.
When you do it right you will literally hear a pop and it might be quite painful for a few minutes. Round your sacroiliac joint and down your sciatic nerve (if this is the problem not something else).
Then you will notice less sciatic pain over the next 24 hours.
Mine seems to go out of line when I shoot playing foot if I didnt play footy though I would never have the problem.
scu98rkrFree Membercome on rich bit harsh, pretty positive message from the new guy !
Cannock is good cos the main route is all marked up so not much thinking you can just cycle.
tearing down some scary (at least to me) rutted, rocky, chalky and sandy singletrack, sometimes scaring myself at how quick I’ve found myself going.
If you havent got an suspension then your doing well I reckon. Went round cannock with out suspension a couple of weeks ago, and it is tough if your not used to it.
scu98rkrFree MemberYes, house prices are high but a lot of young people complain about how they can’t afford a house but never make any sacrifices to save.
Too many people are buying must have items like every Apple product under the sun, travelling the world etc. and not saving. I know my parents had to scrimp and save to get their first deposit and were right on the limit of what they could afford.A lot of people just don’t want to sacrifice their lifestyle to be able to buy a house, but are all to happy to complain that they can’t afford one.
Do anyone of you remember how when you were young you thought your parents were idiots and you’d never be like them ? Say the same things, whinge the same things act the same way ?
And this is coming from someone who was born middle aged.
scu98rkrFree MemberTechnically very easy you kid will be fine there.
But I found the trail very tiring. Could nt seem to get a good rhythm on them as very rutted/bumpy in places.
scu98rkrFree Memberbut the market had stagnated then
If the market had stayed stagnated there would nt be a problem !!!
I dont see why u’d see a stagnant market as a problem presuming you were upsizing/moving to a move expensive area.
The only time a rising market can help any one is if their downsizing/moving to a cheaper area.
If the market hadnt stagnated u’d have still had to have saved for the next deposit, unless u were lucky enough for ur Leeds flat to be in an area of particularly strong house growth from 2001 to whenever.
scu98rkrFree MemberActually not really. I bought a house in Leeds 2001 and sold a year later, made a modest amount, enought to manage to together a deposit on a flat in London, but the market had stagnated then, I had to save for my next house deposit.
A combination of these 2 graphs probably suggest u brought at approximately the right time. Admittedly u might have been better a year or two before.
As you can see houseprices were going up before 2001 but they really shot up from then on. Admittedly if you were buying bigger and bigger places these would have hindered u too, but at least your deposit was increasing with house pricing being in a house already.
This show interest rates have generally been reasonably low since 2001 so you should of got good deals on your mortgage.
scu98rkrFree Memberbut I’m just about to move to my 4th house at 36
Yeah but that means you probably got on the housing market at just the right time ie late 90s.
Im 32 brought my first house a couple of years ago.
I got some money at 18 (linked to my dad been killed during work when I was young).
I did nt buy a house then because I was going to uni, then did PhD, postdoc involved moving to a rubbish area of London (got very cheap rent). Generally was careful with my money, got a good job, pays alright, now doing research into fuels.
But almost certainly I’d have been financially better off buying a house in 1998 renting the spare rooms and generally just looking after the house and sorting rents and not getting a “proper” job. Maybe even just staying at my mums and renting the full house out till I’d paid the mortgage. The money I’d received at 18 would almost certainly have tripled. Have wages tripled in that time ?
Maybe long term my education will be better for me financially maybe not.
scu98rkrFree MemberCheers MrMo more good stuff particularly the Strava download linky
scu98rkrFree MemberAlso a couple of nights out is probably far more expensive than any electrical gadgets people might have. Probably would be better to start saving there.
scu98rkrFree MemberToo many people are buying must have items like every Apple product under the sun, travelling the world etc. and not saving. I know my parents had to scrimp and save to get their first deposit and were right on the limit of what they could afford.
Laziest quote of the day, generally the only apple product most young people have is the iPhone.
In some ways a decent smart phone is a good investment, if you have a computer at work a smart phone means you might not need a computer at home, an internet connection or a land line. Especially if your renting and moving from one place to another moving a smart phone is alot easier.
The question is have they got a good deal on their contract ? Well you would nt know from looking.
Most of my younger cousins dont have a computer/laptop anymore just a phone.
Also it has to be said most of these electronic gadgets can be had very cheaply. Remember most younger people dont have cars which the older generation did have that would £1000 insurance a year £50 MOT £100 tax + fuel + price of car. Why didnt people in the 70/80/90s not buy a car and save for a deposit ?
Because the public transport system was terrible and a car was seen as a necessity. Why do most youngesters now have a fancy smart phone because being able to get on the web/be connected is seen(probably is) as a necessity.
scu98rkrFree MemberIf the number of houses built exceeded the demand from a growing/more disparate population, or the population steadied or even dropped, house prices would go down.
Actually the population did pretty much stabilise between about 1975 and 1995. Even with people wanting to live in smaller households/increasing divorce, the wage to average house price ratio was probably the lowest ever in the mid nighties.
Really we should of tried to keep it that way with a stable population, guess it pretty hard to stop immigration in a more connected world with a billion more people. The strange thing is Germanys population has actually fell in that time why dont people want to go there ?
scu98rkrFree Memberyeah I think thats reasonable.
26″ will have to stick around because some riders are shorter than others.
scu98rkrFree Memberyou can get disc brakes quite cheap second hand and even a fork. But you need disc ready wheels honestly just save u buy a new bike.
If u do this everything else will be upgraded too.
scu98rkrFree Memberride your bike till its ridden into the ground.
by then you will be enjoying it so much you will be able to justify spending several times what you think you can right now.
agreed
scu98rkrFree MemberCheltenham to Cheltenham via Cranham, Leckhampton, Cleeve, Nottingham hill, dumbleton, and Bredon hill. Almost get a circuit of Cheltenham and a major chunk is off road. It it a long day though! and the final climb up Bredon is the hardest of the day, if you pick the Ashton climb rather than the Beckford one.
Think going as far as Bredon hill might be a bit too much for a first attempt in the Cotswold but might be interested
scu98rkrFree MemberPS Just signed up for Strava, how do I download the GPS/GPX ?
scu98rkrFree MemberOh yeah if you have anyother good GPS files put them on ->
:) :)
Its soo much easier to follow the route when an OS map is shown rather than the google terrain map !
Cheers guys for the help.
scu98rkrFree MemberThat would be amazing mrmo,
alfabus thanks for the map ta
mrmo thanks for the other map
cheers
scu98rkrFree Memberlinking cranham to Cleeve is perfectly possible, starting from my house the route is about 30miles. However!!!! Cranham!!! mud, Leckhampton, bits MUD!, the link between cleeve and Leckhampton MUD!!!!!
Would u go the same way as suggested on the Garmin maps ?

This is all well and good but it isnt a route map !
Heres another I did for the Chilterns 30 miles.
This is the sort of thing Im looking for
scu98rkrFree MemberWell when I went down to the Quantocks I did this route.
Quantocks from the station
Map of RouteAdmittedly getting to the hills and back alot of the route was on the road, but still 40 miles.
Im wanting something similar 30 miles offroad would be good, could even push it to the 40 if there were on road sections to join places up.
scu98rkrFree MemberFirst there is the steerer tube.
From about 1997 to recently this was a standard 1 and 1/8th of an inch width.
Almost all forks will have forks with a steerer tube of this width.
But recently 1.5″ and tapererd forks (1.5″ to 1.125″) has started to appear these wont fit. (Neither will really old forks just 1″).
Then there is the length of the steerer, different frame has different head tube lengths. You need to make sure there is enough steerer for your bike. (what size bike do you have). New forks will have an uncut steerer but 2nd hand might have a shorter steerer. 220mm should fit most bikes.
Then there is the Frame geometry. Frames can be designed to fit different lengths of fork. Getting to long a fork can lead the frame to lean back and the steering to be too slow. A short fork might lead to the opposite.
Generally forks with the same travel (ie 100mm) have the same length this might not be true.
If you get 100mm Rockshox I would imagine it would fit your frame.
Lastly there are brake mounts. Do you have discs or V brakes ? Old forks need to just have V brake mounts. Fork from about 2000-2007ish have both, and newer forks tend just to have disc brake mounts.
scu98rkrFree Member. It’s got a Manitou Magnum R on it. How much do you normally pay to service a fork? Is it worth servicing?
No unless u do it your self, as stated above.
Personally I’d just sit tight and buy a whole new bike when u can and also more importantly when u really know what u want.
scu98rkrFree MemberI suggest hanging onto the bike u have till you really know what you want.
Then if your really addicted spend as much as you can on a new/sales/good condition second hand bike.
Dont bother trying to upgrade because if your already thinking of a new bike you will upgrade and then still want a new bike.
Which means you will have spent twice.
Also MTB bikes seem to be going through a particularly changeable period at the moment ie tapered forks/larger bars/different Bottom Bracket standards/10 speed/possible 11 speed/15mm axles/Dual Chainrings.
Im not sure how this would affect your decision but might be an idea to get as many new standards as possible.
Personally I dont think 10 speed will last too long it makes a lot of sense to go straight to 11 speed and 1 chainring if they can do it cheaply enough.
scu98rkrFree MemberI now have superstar one and it fits.
Come with both crown races which makes it somewhat better value than on-one. Ie £40 + £20 for other crown race.
So confirmed as the standard for the Scandal.
ZS 44/28.6 | EC 49/40
scu98rkrFree Membereffectively, they never actually come to a complete stop
Thats me I slow down a long way from the lights try to slowly roll it so when I get to the stop line, the lights have changed.
I dunno why I do it just something to do I suppose.
more likely to do it in a good mood than bad, just a little game I play I suppose.

scu98rkrFree Memberoh thats cos the upper is smaller than the 1.5″ lower, and is placed inside it ?
scu98rkrFree MemberMind you on this pic of the smoothy mixer
The upper headset looks internal or semi integrated.
But looking at my frame it looks like it should be a standard external.
scu98rkrFree Memberthat one is close
ZS 44/28.6 | EC 49/40
but surely I need a
EC 44/28.6 | EC 49/40
?
scu98rkrFree Memberoh no its an external upper as well isnt it ? would that superstar one fit ?
scu98rkrFree Memberalso the on one is 50 grams lighter, seems a bit silly to get such a light frame as the scandal then put a 200g headset in.
scu98rkrFree Memberyeah cheers guys.
getting totally confused for it was internal for some reason.
the superstar one does look slightly better value as it includes both the crown races.
On-one are charging £20 for the tapered crown race.
Think that might be the one to get still £40 ! Dont think I’ve ever spent more than £20 on a headset and never had the bearings go either.
scu98rkrFree Memberthey support their back with there arms so its not quite the same.
scu98rkrFree MemberThe ground near the berkshire surrey boarders is much more sandy than the rest of the SE.
Similar to cannock chase but not so gravelly.
It should nt be the same as SIT/MM where the mud will clog and your tires wont turn.
But the gritty nature of the soil can cause havoc to drive chains if it rains hard, can quite quickly destroy disc brake pads and bottom brackets if it gets in.
I remember on one Gorrick Enduro very few people managed to complete the whole 6 hours (even the good riders) because their drivetrains/disc brake pads were destroyed after a few hours.
Im not completely sure the land near minely manor is quite so sandy as in Swinely.
