the gun can often be very cold either bring gloves or have big hands. actually found it quiet painful one time.

Im used to and happy doing out door sports but this was just outdoor standing around holding a large cold heatsink.

I think as molgrips says probably the most interesting thing is the chart particularly the peak in about the 87 and then a drop. In some of the cases the confidence level did reach that peak again until 95.

This does seem to mirror the mid 80’s as being a very confident time for america and the outlook that people should be successful and confident ie yuppy/wall street etc etc.

The drop from 88-92 ish seems to mirror the grunge / alternative outlook where being different/depressed was seen as cooler.

Im not too sure on the economics of the 80’s but it doesnt seem to mirror GDP in anyway.

    america uk GDP 1980-1995

In america the only slow down seemed to be between 1990 and 1991. So seems like the chart mirror attitude rather than economics.

Im a member I say you can ride through it.

Really us cycling types should try and join the NT + WT en masse and force through a referendum to officially allow cycling.

Although as a member of both its already unofficially allowed in my book. NT are somewhat better I think, definetly some site you can cycle in.

I’ve trained for 10 out of the last 12 days

I imagine thats exactly the sort of “pick me up” comment ton was looking for.

I suppose the real answer is it different for everyone.

looking at footballer it does appear that some players become worn and and just cant keep the pace. While other players just keep going and going.

I imagine sport like rugby are going to wear you out faster than road or XC mtbing.

I got some kinda of aductor muscle issue from playing footy. I didnt have a proper hernia but I was diagnosed with gilmores groin although I’m not really sure.

Anyway I developed tendenitis of the abductor, Im not sure wether it was because I kept going or just because the way I’d developed meant I put alot of strain on it.

Anyhow took about 2 years to clear up and at point would just go with only minor twinges. So be careful with it dont overstrain.

During this time I couldnt really do exercise properly.

Since it cleared up its been 100% though.

I reckon I might have had saciolliac joint dysfunction myself.

Anyhow you need to be sure your core is strong. If you have both a hernia and a pulled abductor your likely to have core strength/balance/gait/sacroilliac issues which are causing the other issues.

if you do a google map search he should nt even need to get on either of the bridges. Being that hes coming from north londonshire.

I really like the trail at Cannock better than Swinley/Chilterns etc Better than many of the better known routes in the north downs.

Although if you have an expert the North downs probably has more routes, but cannock you can just get on your bike and ride.

Dunno if its a “proper” ride but it is a good trail centre ride. There are rocks there (but not naturally) and a couple of nice black extensions to the trail which can be changeling.

Problem is its going to be over 2 hours driving probably.

Going to dorking is an obvious suggestion but if you train it there is still a bit of road cycling to do to the trails.

I think if you want to just go, get on a trail straight from the car park not think and have some good riding then cannock is probably the best idea. Also it holds up well in most weather.

Its a shame there are no forestry commission sites which are in between london and birmingham/bristol as they would be easily accessible for at all of riders. It doesnt need much altitude to make a good MTB trail just a few trees and plenty of weather proofing. MTB swindon are doing some good work on a small trail there…

    Other places –
Thetford is quite quick to get to for you. But the trails are nt much cop in my mind (and not just because its flat)
Swinley trails are being redeveloped but there are a couple of good ones but again will you find them ? Might be better to go next summer when its all marked up if you dont know your way.

scu98rkr is right that Jesus isn’t even descended from David as Joseph is not his father.

I think you’ve missed my point, if you want to see it this way Jesus and David are both descended from Adam created by God. So they would still be in the same family ie humanity. Just depends how you see it.

    scu98rkr
    Free Member

well this depends on your viewpoint.

The gospels did give jesus a genealogy leading back to David. Although obviously they also say Joseph was nt Jesus’s father so why bother with a genealogy ? Suppose it was so ingrained in them days you could nt help it. Suppose you could say both David and Jesus’s genealogy both eventually lead back to God as the original father but then you could say that for everyone.

Anyway in the gospel Jesus makes it clear that his Kingdom is not of this earth. So presumably you could say the old testament prophets and predictions for

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end,

Hadnt really got the point that these things they were prophesying would be spiritual not physical.

Saint Augustine expanded on this in City of God linking the new testament prophesies to a heavenly jerusalem, rather than a earthy centre of power ie Rome/Real Jerusalem.

The mainstream jewish point of view is that Christians have got the wrong guy and their still waiting for a messiah who will bring earthly peace etc etc

All looks good the only bit that seems a bit of a shame is the fireroad from seagull to the reservoir.

    MAP

On my usual route I tend to use roller coaster and do seagull the other way.

Obviously soreen cant consider roller coaster as its on MOD land.

I reckon the red trail would flow better in the other direction myself.

Obviously tanks traps/Lab/Deer stalker can only be riden one way, but minor changes to the route could easily sort that.

i have some Shimano M087 wide. I was starting to get some Problemss with my feet for having too narrow shoes.

They are wider round the toe area in comparison to the specialised I was using before.

The only issue is they are really for PeoPle with fat feet as they are still wide at the ankle. Rather than for thinish PeoPle with short\wide feet but narrow ankles. [like me]

However they are Probably still the most comfortable shoes I have I just have to do the belt uP tight to make sure they stay on.

I’d wait till after christmas and see if you can pick up fifa 13 cheapish.

with online being such an important component of games now a days its important to have a reasonably new version.

I have fifa 12 and I’ve found my self in the top division on the online head to head might even win a championship.

I’m sure its because the best players have gone to fifa 13.

To build muscle you need to eat a lot. Lots of protein to stimulate new muscle growth, and lots of calories (starchy food like (sweet) potatoes, rice, veg, etc) to actually build the muscle. You need to be eating above your maintenance level of calories. Of course you also need to be lifting heavy enough to shock your system into building new muscle but it sounds like you’re doing that already.

This is probably where I go wrong. Although I go through periods where I eat quite alot I also tend to go through periods where I really cut back. I often find my fitness/energy often seems to improve if I almost fast some times, I seem to use the food/calories more effectively if I only have small amounts. If I eat alot I often feel less energetic.

Do some people just not really put muscle on ? When I do cardio I can quite often see my fitness improve from run to run or ride to ride. I’ve never really seen anything like this with gym/lifting weights and I do now try to lift heavier weights not just do lots of reps.

I can put on some muscle on my legs and occasionally if I do enough push ups I can put a bit of muscle on my chest.

I’ve never been able to put any much muscle on my arms and any small amounts I put on will just go with in say 2 weeks if I stop.

Its not like Im totally skinny naturally and Im quite fast sprinting in footy but my arms just dont like muscle and I return to my natual shape straight away.

So you’ve been there 13 years and everyone who lived local to you left the firm moved on ?

All the remaining people try to stay out of the office as often as possible while you are there ?

Even your CEO who obviously respects your work (been there 13 years) tries to stay away with some vague excuses ? He even accepts the business will be less efficient (and therefore profitable ?) and even flys to Paris rather than spend one more day in the office a week with you ?

Your IT guy refuses to come out of his room to talk to you unless you offer him food ?

    hmmm….

Not too sure I about keeping the core warm, but I find if you keep your wrists warm this helps with you hands.

If you have any arm warmers these can help keep your hands warm.

The aldi gloves are good especially for commuting. They have a bit less feel than normal mtb gloves, but really arent that bad esp once worn in.

The other option I found that has worked is a pair of under gloves with some thinner winter mtb gloves.

This way I get good feel/grip and but you can still get a bit of warmth.

Good to see a few more positive views on this page. Page 2 in particular was full of extreme negativity.

Looks like on the blue trail there will be a fair bit of new singletrack.

Looks like there a few sections of fireroad still on the red which is a shame.

Well his presents suggest he likes potporri. Also he doesnt seem to mind giving slightly damaged presents so he should nt mind getting slightly damaged used presents. I would suggest he might be wanting some potpurri for christmas.

I’d go for 1 bag this, year 2 bags next and 3 three the following. Hopefully he will still give you one bag each year.

After a few years you will only need to store 1 bag of potpurri a year.

I think coldplay is the best call so far they are real musicians even if totally MOR.

It has to be MOR obviously but dont forgot Phil Collins was in Genesis who were well regarded.

What you really need is a band/group that would have been cool or at least technically decent when Bateman was at school/uni, but then sold out and became totally commercial. Or who are very much into stadium type music being the ‘best’ in a very narrow sense ie most sales/tickets/etc

To top it off and be a full fit for bateman, after this commercial success the lead singer should descend into madness when they cant quite reach to be the very “BEST”.

    350g?

    Dont you mean 450g?

The stans 455 is a 455gram rim and thats one of the lighter one. I think the crest basically is the lightest rim at 440grams or something.

Also – the level of use has increased enormously and so the unsurfaced trails like the Gorrick 10 or whatever you call the 15 foot wide slog between Swinley and Crowthorne have just become fire roads – I remember when that was a narrow ribbon of singletrack… Again – in terms of sustainable use this cannot continue.

Did she actually post it to “YOUR” wall.

Or did she give it as an update therefore appearing on your feed.

If she posted it to your wall then fair enough, your a fairly harsh bloke who likes to take the p**s she should know that and expect an ironic response.

If she gave it as an update it probably wasnt aimed at you. yes annoying but you just need to block her from your message feed.

In real life if you over heard her talking to your wife/friends you wont immediately take the p**s you’d stay out of the conversion. This is similar.

I think it depends what your going to use the bike for.

    Im 5’8.5″ – 5’9″ with a 32″/33″ inseam. (I think fairly long legs ? and short trunk ?)

Generally I like a bike in 17″. Although I have a feeling womens bike might fit me better ? :)

I have a scandal 29er in 18″ but I plan to use it as a pure XC machine, maybe even short bits of road/cross. I also wanted some room to possibly put a frame bag one day.

I’ve rode it round the chase and it handled every thing well especially the climbs, but in comparison to some of my other bikes it feels big. Its not so great for jumps/air I think thats a bit the wheels and a bit the size.

If you want more of a pure XC machine I would think about the 18″ but if you want more chuck ability maybe a 16″ ? Although I have to say at 5’9″ I find my 26″ more fun for jumpy type trails (ie llandegla).

Obviously some of the stories quoted by the OP are not that important on the world scale, but food price increases is massively important and will effect everyone world wide.

I took a bunch of newbies to llandegla and cannock the next day.

    No problem with llandegla.

They actually found Cannock harder because the ups are more technically difficult and they upy downy nature tired out the guys more than llandeglas one big up.
