Provence! We were there last year coinciding with the tour. Guarenteed 99%of summer time good weather, stunning scenary, lots of history, great riding on/off road, loads of wine and lavender, and of course the Ventoux. Its a long drive (if thats ya case) but well worth it. Check out Bedoin and Malaucene…

Thanks for that eth3er, this is what ive done using option2 from flickr hence hopefully you can see the image,
however option 1 that flickr tell us to use has an additional code, that when pasted doesnt work. I assume then that using option 2 is the only way to do it?

I did the same ride on same day! We cant have been that far apart. The only others I saw were going in the op' direction. Massive snow at start of derwent edge , did ya see tha cornice/overhang up above by the juction with the vantage point? Most rideable route too and tracked out singletrack on the descent to barn/ paving slabs. Cheers for sharing

woody2000, I knew instantly where these were! A superb one day walk – the worlds greatest so they say. I have many almost identical pics from last year (snowy) and '95, red hot! Did you make it to summit of Ngnarohoe (the big Conical one to the righ -out of shot) (Spelling?), that I would like to do!Happy days…

I returned mine last week to retailer to then be sent on to Fisher for warrenty insepction. Not the same problem though I think. Trouble with play in left bushing/bulge area but only on certain pressure settings (my preferred/ideal settings at that!), becoming very 'loose and knocking'. Still waiting for response as to any/what outcome… While I'm here, any clues as to what Rockshox Warrenty Dept are like would be helpful folks… ta

I was only thinking of Mountaincycle yesterday wondering if they are still going? SShockwave used to do them but I havent heard much lately from the brand. If they are not currently being imported then this level of service should help? Good news storey…

wipe over with wd40 will keep it gleaming, water free and protected from grime. You could be brave and use duraglit or brasso (the stuff that is like wadding in a tin). This will deep clean but may polish up ya metal more than you wish, be careful it will make a massive difference to how ya bare metal looks.

Ok I know we're not always, always…. right… Honesty with your customers is helpful though and avoiding comments like "no, but we can get you one…" referring to not stocking item or being out of stock… 2 months later and a deposit paid… still waiting etc etc. Had that one so many times. My longest wait was for a pair of rims being delivered (with a different excuse everytime)is 6 weeks. Was told 3 days at first. One day they were in the delivery van riding around the town "as we speak" and still had to wait more weeks… rant over

Its all making sense now considering the amount of money it does cost to put in several racing days back to back when on tours. Way more so than an elite/pro mtb team for sure… And like yous say the manufacturer still gets their name banded about on the bikes etc

DO NOT MAKE EMPTY PROMISES (or threats even), and remember we your customers are always always always always right!! Bet ya thinking I've had some rubbish treatment from LBSs in my time? I have and I' sure plenty here have too. Hope that's a start for you guys…

+1 for Ritchey WCS Carbon. Merlin for sure but i have found Ribble to very cheap these days (if they do Ritchey), CRC, wiggle and Parker-International, pro bike kit,Primera-bournmouth also good starting points…

I would have thought ya local Marin dealer would supply and fit under warrenty. Most warrenties imply all work should be done by a suitably qualified mechanic etc. If so thats your argument to get them done for you…? Just a thought.

+1 for washing up liquid. Wash RINSE and go! Belive it or not rinsing will get rid of any salt, if there is any in the first place…

+1 for washing upliquid! +1 for nickc's comment. And, do we not rinse? then this gets rid of any salt in the water anyway. 20 years worth so far and no signs of my bikes failing due to saline treatment.

Not ace but try this, its my short winter ride: Castleton, up on the 'broken road' of Mam Tor, left at T junction following for about 1 mile to Eldonhill quarry, left onto stoney well drained 4wd track by quarry, stay on track climbing to crest (some of this maybe a bit muddy) continue back onto stoney ground/bit rocky with some large drainage ruts and then descend fast and rocky to tarmac. Left, 1/4 mile turn right to pick up Pindale stoney/rocky descent, through quarry bottom to tarmac and back to Cton. What mud gets on bike will be washed off on the last 2 descents,(consider ya bike tyres getting a stone wash) (9mile). it can be extended here and there too.
