First time I went on a Rocky Mountain Equipe. Hard work at time plus pleny of punctures. Following years on a SC Supelight and made all the difference. That said sure ya Chameleon would be just fine, assuming you have got appropriate/matching tyres, breaks, fork etc

Thanks for the info. Needing the land owners permission sounds true, but would we ever get hold of them? Most being absent and multi- millionaires!!

nice looking bike! Wont stay that way if it keeps getting leaned up against brick walls and ridden off road though… Mountain bikes are pretty good for the rough stuff 😆

What travel forks are ‘we’ running on those asr5 s 130mm 0r 120mm? I would think 130 is more of a match for back end but most appear with 120mm and the carbon i understand wont take a 130mm… cheers

Was there (Castleton/MamTor/Hope X/Hope)on Sat with bike. Only a dusting then but in actual fact this was just the right amount. White over, hard packed and firm beneath. Traction was great and all rideable including the ascent of Jagger’s Clough! Maybe be different now though?

Sorry I’m not anywhere near you. Back ground: started work in education, school based and supporting children and young people. Progressed in various helping and supporting roles to completing qualifications in psychology and later counselling. I now manage and coordinate a counselling service for children, young people and their families. So in short it has been a long and gradual journey, but worth it. Tell ya missus ‘good luck’.

She would need to comment on any previously completed qualifications/training in counselling/psychology, relevant previous/current employment, why she is interested in counselling with relevant life experiences etc and perhaps what she intends to do once qualified. Any background knowledge on counselling theory/psychology or knowledge of her chosen theory/theoretical approach. I am assuming she has some knowledge/entry level qualifications already so she won’t be a complete beginner. She may like to check the BACP website and the site of the course provider to get some background on the courses being offered etc. Show her your post, then you too will get some brownie points! Hope this lot is a start. Just to bring it back to bikes… what shop ya work in?

Cos he looks after number one. ‘I’m alright Jack’… I am begining to think Milk Snatcher was a pretty good leader (by comparison) to be honest… Come back Thatcher all is forgiven!!!!! Just heard on our local news he is pulling the plug on funding the National Mining Museum. So he has just finished off what Thatcher started! Nice one… Tosser!

Dirt! Incidently, the MBUK/freebie version has extended bits stuck on the end featuring Ted, Dave Hemmings and JMC for those that have never let it run through… Slightly emusing.

Did one 18 month since and it was useful. Interactive, discussion and informative with stats and data about RTAs etc. Out of the 15 or so of us only one got obnoxious about it all, think he was a taxi driver…I was ‘caught’ in a different locality and was allowed to do mine more local so that was good too. Incidently I got another warning only 6 months after from my local area (I dont speeeeed neither – honest), so I guess these agencies dont share info, or I am very lucky to be overlooked so soon after the first one. Both events were a result from the yellow speed cameras…

Good luck. Sorry I can not recommend any. Donny is that bad!! Out of a bad bunch I might suggest Don Valley, or a trip to Bike Tree or Edinburgh Cyles in Sheffield

I put up similar post a while back. Yeah bring on some funky colours (life can be dull enough at times). Putting this aside and referring to my original post I think an aftermarket upgrade could be better engineered. My current maxle is already mashed as the ‘cup’ where the lever sits gnarls it up every time its tightened. Come on Hope!

All you New Model Army, SOM or other similar 80’s outfits may remember the chicken dance… What about travelling crews…. Tazzymtb and gravety-slayer mention the Militia… (500 gigs is good going by the way) who has them these days? So glad i was groing up in the eighties!

toured there 15 years ago and went back 2 years ago and not that much had changed. As for company, you will have plenty of cyling partners (as it were) while on the road. As for trafic… well the whole population is only about 3 1/2 million ie that of a medium city here like Leicester or something, spread out over an area bigger than UK. You would be very very unlucky if traffic did pose you a problem. Deffinately take ya bike, you would kick yourself big time if ya didnt. Get packing!!

Once washed lightly spray with wd40 and wipe over. Job done! Or if you want a deep lasting shine ie removing any tarnish try Duraglit. WARNING!!! This will seriously buff to mirror finish and likely to be permenant so not advisable if you just want want a ‘polish’.

Dry dusty singletrack up, along, or down under blue sky with the sun on my back while darting a forest with that fresh pine smell. Oh preferably amongst big snowcaped mountains. The pine smell is a favourite though…

Done my 15 yr old Rab a few times in the machine with a down wash-in from Nikwax, then the important bit… A very warm (not hot to melt)strong blast in a tumble dryer til its bone dry. Clean and replenishes to new. Though I expect there will be some detioration in the down if its that old, maybe you consider having it re-filled… Contact Rab they are very helpful…

Close, MBI September ’93. Centre spread of 4 pics in sequence (though I’m sure I a seen a single full spread of one pic somewhere). Caption at bottom; “To hell and back: Mike King enters the Twighlight Zone. That’s the edge of the Kamikaze he’s riding on, and a drop of several hundred feet awaits over it! Not the place for your tyre to roll off eh?” Pics by Malcom Fearon/Single Track.

    Amazing and unforgettable (obviously).

Twas Mike King and I’m certain I still have it, but would take ages to look up. How desparate are you? If I remember correctly it was a centre spread or at least a full page in MBUK about ’93…

Esthetics are important in human existance did you know? How many of us think carefully about our sense of dress, decorating the home, gardening, choosing the colour of our cars, matching this & matching that etc etc. So its no surprise that many of us ‘take care’ when ‘dressing our bikes’, after all they are exremely important to us and allow us one way or another to live a more fulfilled life/existance… Just a thought folks…

Absolutley!! I tried my best to stay up through the night but ‘dropped off’ about 2.00. Woke up at 6.30 as three had been lifted. Catching latest now on Beeb website. Human resiliance at its finest…

If I was to reinvent Maslow’s Hierachy of Needs, bikes would fulfill my most basic human needs (replacing food, shelter, ability to reproduce etc…). Bikes already provide my self esteem, sense of belonging, aesthetic needs etc etc etc…And I reach Self Actualising only when I’m with my wheels!! Sorry to go all psychological on you all so early in the morning, but I couldn’t sleep cos I need to ride…. Now I’m off!!

Great stuff! and thanks for sharing. My memories have faded since I did the St Bees to RHB c2c 10 years since. Our big epic was the 3rd day (of 4) from Shap to Osmotherly! Such a reward when done though.
