hi dan45a I can’t comment on the C but will very much recommend the alloy. I built mine up as light as I could afford for xc/trail use and find its superb in every aspect. Not cheap mind… Take a look at the Yeti fan site for more pics and info on ASR 5s.

Yetifan.com the only place to go for Yeti clothing. T shirts change stock frequently so if you dont see what you like today try again in a few weeks and they will most likely have others. Andrew is very efficient with keeping the site up to date and posting orders straight out. “Up the Yeti”!!

Frenck Alps are a good start, and certainly plenty of infamous climbs! Why not take your mates and let them MTB while you roadie. Places like Morzine cater for both exceptionally well…
I was out in Provence during the ’09 Tour around Ventoux, Bedoin, Malucenne areas. Not as ‘mountainous’as the Alps, but just about guranteed superb weather during the summer months and excellent network of quiet roads. The weather makes or brakes these types of hols for me…

Mme… Not a good storey. I’ve been riding Yetis for a few years now and its a shame part of their UK network let their customers down like this.I do hope you get this sorted out to your satisfaction very soon. Good luck. Feedback on here to let us know…

Ahh… They were the days! Left school in ’83 no job, no future, miss spent youth, on t’ dole/working on the side for cash in hand, hitching around the country seeing bands… not a care in the world! Thanks Mags, swine!!

Yeah did some of this 18 years ago while touring there, sure its changed since. I sailed by tiny boat from Picton to Punga Cove then onto Endeavour Inlet, to Tirangi, to Anakoha then back to Punga Cove. This was one of many small de tours while touring. Three days on this I think. Some pics below. Get cracking!!

Os W – Well remebered. Not quite so ‘new’ now, usual contact points havig the usual scuffs. Why Mavic stopped doin the Ceramic coated rims I dont know! Shimano need to loose their ‘XTR Grey’ once and for all!Apart from that all is well. Oh, the saddle is loosing some of its ‘silky’ coat (laminate)around stitching…Thanks for the kind comments too.

yo, Doncaster Wheelers C/o Don Valley cycles probably ya best bet. Rosso is near Finningley and not too far from Harworth (Tom Simpson territory)if they still have a club I’m not sure? You could also try Scunthorpe or Rotherham areas too?

Do you mean gear cable? Make sure the screw is tight that holds the gear cable port cover in place on swing arm. Mine was loose and tightened it up. No more cable slide…

Just a few thoughts… Not a plated shoulder but did have part of my elbow plated. What I found interesting was the advice from the specialists: 1, my arm would never go straight again. 2, there would be no point in having the plate removed… 1, I made sure my arm went staright again. 2, I chose to have it removed! 8 years on and its never given me any jipp on those counts or any other. Plenty of physio and make your own judgements about having it removed once mended upon how you feel. Good luck with the recovery!

Just got back 3 days ago having a week based at Applecross campsite. Its very limiting! Infact hardly worh a 13 hour drive, that said Torridon is around the coast and a bit better. The well known/publisised Torridon circuit is damn good and gives a high mountain feel whenn crossing Bealach Lice pass. Back to Apple then, the ride over to Kenmore is good and thats it. There is a quick coastal blast to Sand that’s a there and back ride. You could ride the local walks through the woods ok for a 15 minute blast. We did discover by walking what would be a good short route on the penninsula at Sheildaig.

The best thing about Applecross is its remote location and accessing it by Belach Ne Bahr (ignore my spellings). This is the road in and is Uk’s highest road. You may well want to trip over to Skye for a real adventure…

It is a great place to be based if you are planning other activities, better suited to hiking, sea kyaking and beech combing.

Did it 1 1/2 years ago ascending from Bedoin. Begin with a good ride in, say from Malaucene, via col de Madaleine (not THE Madaleine)and into Bedoin then ascend through Chalet Rennard. Thats about 30 mile round trip and should do you fine.

To make a few points: where have I suggestd I am concerned about buying XT parts or flocking to CRC? In all honesty this is not my intention or interest. As some of us are recognising a wider impact (on the Japanese accomomy) I am wondering how their industrial infrastructure will be affected; anything from importing, exporting, suppliers… (The Japanese are panick buying, BBC news now). Since I posted this, I have been in touch with my Japanese sister in law and 1 nephew and 1 neice. Neither have been offended. I have brought it to bikes because we are on a bike forum and we ride bikes. Like wise I could have asked about any aspect of Japanese manufacturing. See ‘chaingangs’ post about donating 5% of Shimano sales … They can only do this if the parts are available and now back to my query… At some point it will hit us in the sense of UK importing, sales etc and therefore the wider impact.

I have my personal thoughts and emotional responses to this disaster, and don’t feel I need to aire them on a bike forum, but would like to be able to discuss the wider economic/manufacturing affects. As its been said, Japan needs to build their econmomy to be able to grow from this event…

No not worried about bike parts, thinking about this after Honda have released information about their car production etc and the likelyhood of parts being stocked up. I am being curious here and relating a general consumer issue to our interests? So no intention of being insenitive or offensive.

I have spent great times there including an extensive bike tour. This is a tradgedy for such a fantastic country. Thanks for any more news. Meanwhile I will keep checking news sites etc. Ta
