Next on the hit list is a A901 Kenwood Chef that I rescued from the local tip some years back with speed controller problems 🙂

In an effort to get the electrical side of mum and dads decades long house renovation finally completed I’ve been getting a bit of workshop time in rebuilding this outside lantern for them…

Record 75 bench vice for scale…

The sparky persuaded them to get the whole lantern and bracket powder coated… unfortunately the lantern is made of copper and was soldered together and disintegrated into myriad pieces when it went in the oven 🤦‍♂️

It’s now partly held together with solid copper rivets (fiddly but interesting to do) with the top all re-soldered together.

Had to rig up a jig to hold everything straight-ish for soldering using The Daddy Of All Soldering Irons…

Pleased to get it done 🙂

Spent a chunk of time on Saturday fixing the rattly steering on a mobility scooter that my dad was given for free. Turns out they just use a threaded bike headset so no special parts required.
He had his first outing on it to the vintage vehicle rally at Carlisle Airport yesterday and got on pretty well with it 🙂
Next project will probably be acquiring and modifying a wee trailer to carry it as it’s a heavy wee sod to lift into the boot of my car 😆

I spotted this little guy at a vintage vehicle rally at Carlisle Airport yesterday. First show I’ve been to since lockdown #1 😎

Anything above the M8M6 is considered wilderness.

    FTFY…

£25 difference in shipping quote between addresses in Longtown and Gretna for 4 LED battens last week! Ever so slightly ridiculous 😡

Last thing I repaired was the annoying issue with my LG smart TV not connecting to WiFi. Back of TV off… clean WiFi module and reseat connector… reassemble… job done! 😎😆

People who are too stupid to have their house name or number visible from the street.

Cause of muchly daily swearing in my job.

Also architects who design new builds with utility meters buried indoors in a shitty cramped wee cupboard under the stairs instead of outside cabinets. ****.

The Annandale Way runs fairly close to the Fechan 🤔

I think the closest bit of it is one of the nicest sections too…

Every day really isn’t a school day any more so I’m super happy to learn that trick. Just hope I remember it next time I need it

Be careful not to breathe the fumes! 💀💀💀

Yeah, like I would have enough breath to spare to use that when I’m out on the bike! 🤣🤣

Quiet desperation is my default. I relate to a lot of what you just said but I can’t type up a lengthy reply right now.

    Same here 😐

I suspect there is much truth in the quote, sadly…

All expiry dates are supported by stability testing that proves its efficacy and safety. So if it has passed a defined set of parameters after a period of time the expiry will be based on that data
I was both responsible for testing drugs in that way and also in charge of teams that did that for years.

Oddly enough my girlfriend has just changed jobs after doing the same thing for quite a few years…

I’d probably start by measuring the length of the 2 legs of the sticky oot bit of those shelf supports, the diameter of the rod they’re made of and the spacing between them and have a word with a steel stockholder to see if it corresponds to an off the shelf mesh that could be cut and folded.

If you had to make those bits from scratch from steel rod with basic tools it’d get very, very tedious very, VERY quickly…

The rest looks straightforward enough but if you’re fitting it into a wonky shaped corner it probably isn’t 😆

Spotted a plot for sale in the middle of Shawhead when I was up there for work today, not that far from Crocketford…

Not sure if this’ll work but here goes 🤔

Edit: zoom in on the notice on the fence from a slightly different angle and the sellers details are visible on streetview 😁

Sandside** is an area that’s not great but slowly improving, helped it has to be said by the demise of the pub right next to that plot. Gradually changing from largely social housing to owner occupiers.

The plot at Greenlea looks pretty much straight at the railway line (which isn’t very busy) and might be a bit soggy underfoot but otherwise not too bad a bet 🤔

Edit: **can’t get the link to work but it’s the auction one Paton referred to…

    Keep looking OP!

My cousin lived there and moved because of constant harressment from a well known character that lived there. So it can happen anywhere.

Happened to my girlfriend and her family when they lived there. I’ve heard it from others who have moved there in more recent years too. Basically if you’re not a Fechanite of many generations born and (in)bred then it’s pretty much a given…

Fechan was certainly lively and a known reliable source of recreational drugs in the 90/00’s but then so was Annan and Lockerbie.

    Nowt’s changed…

Apparently it was just down to budget – they were given enough money to make six episodes to finish things off. I don’t understand why they included the sub-plot about the magic dogs/resurrection though, that was obviously meant to be a major thing in the next season, no point having it if they have no plans to continue.

There was also all the stuff about the Laconians and protomolecule research (mad scientist from season 2(?) suddenly popping back up again all excited about… something…) which was obviously heading somewhere too 🤔

Also Prax’s wee cameo which looked important plot-wise but got left hanging…

Amazon teeing up a feature film or other series spin-off or something?

My ex’s mum has one of those tables as she is/was a keen quilter. The slidey up’n’doon thing for the sewing machine is quite clever and handy but the build quality of the rest of it is not great for the money TBH. Kinda average quality flatpack really…
If you could find a second-hand one at a substantial discount then it’d maybe be right enough.

    ODG…

Better not let my mum see that one!

She’d be after it like a fat kid after an ice cream van 🙄😂

Does anyone else’s brain read prices like that in the voice of Dr Nick from The Simpsons? 😂😂

I’m pretty confidant that if Senna hadn’t been killed, he could have won four consecutive championships driving the Williams.

Except he wouldn’t have been driving for Williams the year after he won the title because of the teams long standing policy of not retaining world champions…

Even at their peak the Williams team never had the money to pay the kind of wages a defending champion would have been looking for.

Couldn’t find my car keys one time, after a brief search I discovered them in my other hand.

    All.

As Alanl said up there it’d be better to have a look into grafting a cutting from your neighbours tree onto a root stock. You should end up with the same apples that way 😉

Dormer? Maybe worth getting stub drills for use in a pistol/cordless drill, bit stiffer and less prone to breaking.

Milwaukee weren’t too bad when I last got some. Particularly their masonry bits…

I’ve just registered on Olights website. I got a free I3E EOS keyring torch

How did you claim that? When I click on the link it just takes me round in a loop to the login page then a list of coupons.

Anyone using Olights bike lights? I’m considering the RN1500 front light 🤔

TJ, I’m very anti-hunt but I think that monkeyboyjc has a point ref the killing. They’re not all doing it through blood lust.
    Still barbaric though.

But by going along at all they are choosing to put themselves in the position that they may well see a sentient creature terrified and chased to exhaustion and then torn to pieces and that they’re perfectly OK with that possibility…

If you want something to worry about look at China/India/Pakistan. All nuclear armed, all on the brink of actual conflict several times a year

    Yup.

Especially if you factor in the impact of the Taliban in Pakistan.

If you’re cycling in to ride the trails then it’s free anyway…

If you’re driving there to ride then don’t forget to tell the dude in the hut that you’re there to ride. Makes it easier for Rik to make a case for funding for trail repairs 😉

Definitely get one with an operator!

Tell them they will need to check with a CAT tool and genny to avoid services as hitting pipes and cables gets VERY expensive VERY quickly and it’s better their insurance takes the hit than your pocket…
