Sounds like the Poles are sending another batch of the more recently upgraded PT-91s as well as Leopards. Think the UAF have been using older versions for a while now.

If you’re not using it absolutely all the time then it’s not a bad idea to have the bench grinder on a removable board that you can clamp to the bench. The grinder can then be parked on a shelf or hung on a wall out of the way when not in use to save bench space.

Saw the thread title and expected single speed world champs content.

Pity Oxford don’t make something small enough 🤔

R Tech are nice machines, GYS Smartmig are also worth a look.

Auto darkening masks are the way ahead.

Keep an eye on Lidl as they recently had large screen (much better field of vision), true colour (easier to see exactly what the weld pool is up to) ones for about £30 which seem really good. (For car work, which is often in awkward corners that are a right bugger to see what you’re doing in, consider adding LED lights to your mask – makes a world of difference)

Bit of an aside but I like what this guy has been doing with concept art of classic liveries on 2022 style cars…

Yep, grey is just as popular round here. Regular cause of work frustration and sotto voce naughty language because it makes seeing house numbers (where folks have the wit to have one “visible” at all, that is 🤬) even more fun on a pishing wet evening.

Instantly banned when I rule the world 🤣

Could be wrong but that looks a lot like the stock from Powerbikes in Dumfries 🤔

I’ve had dealings with Sweeney Kincaid in the past…

Wouldn’t hurry back… hammer price plus VAT plus commission plus more VAT soon takes the shine off…

Plus they tend to be awkward buggers about collection 🙄

Out of curiosity, would someone (female) shifting a 1.5 litre box of wine and ~half a bottle of gin on their own over 3 nights be considered a lot? A friend seems to be shifting about that much most weekends.

I don’t drink and haven’t for a number of years (violent and abusive alcoholic brother put me right off) so I don’t really know much about it.

Maybe I’m reading too much into the situation but it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re talking up the prospect of power cuts as much as possible to soften opposition to fracking the shit out of the country 🤔

Bloody hell @bunnyhop – please can you edit the title!

@funkmaster I think he had a couple of attempts at Everest with HK/ Jagged Globe, apparently a competent mountaineer and very good company on the hill (as you would expect!)

I could well believe he’d be great fun up in the high places of the world but I’d be worrying about avalanches the whole time! 🤣

He’s someone I have a great respect for, especially after hearing him talk many years ago about how his love for the outdoors and animals helped him cope with mental health and alcohol problems (he said that the 60’s and 70’s were mostly a blur of booze, women and regrets) 💔

In my head he is the voice of Mustrum Ridcully every time I read a Discworld book!

    BUUUUUUUURRRRRRSSSSSSSAAAAAARRRRRRR!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there are any charities that are helping the Ukrainian government care for the huge numbers of POWs they’re taking?

Teenager roped into silaging with round the clock working to get it all done thought he could take some speed to keep himself awake, epic fail but this is why I was always shitting myself on roads in Galloway come silaging as they work in teams from farm to farm with very little sleep/time off whilst piloting 15 tonnes at full speed on narrow roads.

Funnily enough rumour has it that the rig involved belongs to a contractor from near Annan who ships his drivers and kit off down south to pick up on big money contracts hauling rye/maize for the anaerobic digester plants.

It sounds like drugs might have been involved as well.

As a company they have a bloody awful reputation for road behaviour, borne out by what I’ve seen of them when I’ve been working close to their base of operations 👎

Could the record for champion-to-runner up points gap end up getting broken this year? Think it’s still 155 points from 2013, isn’t it?

Kind of hard to bet against it with MV’s current run of form 🤔

Used to spend hours out with the dogs bramble picking on the farm tracks when I was younger. Mum had a business selling preserves through farmers markets and little twee boutique-y shops and bramble jelly was a big seller…

Biggest brambles I’ve ever seen growing anywhere were at the Vintage Excavator Trusts place at the quarry at Threlkeld (up by where the **** massive digger is). Pretty sure rust and pollution are the perfect fertiliser for them 😆

The missiles are being integrated into existing Ukrainian aircraft – Mig-29s – not an easy task because they are Russian-built with very different avionics systems compared to Western jets. But war tends to accelerate development progress, so perhaps it is no surprise that this has been achieved by Ukraine.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find that they’re specifically being used with the ex-Polish/ex-German/ex-DDR MIGs as ISTR the Germans did some upgrades and mods back in the 90s to allow them to use NATO ordnance when they inherited them and added them to their reserve fleet. The mods wouldn’t get them all the way but would probably reduce the number of headaches to a manageable level for a rapid wartime development programme.

That’s the key part. You can have all the tech in the world but if your biological element isn’t trained, motivated & disciplined then you’re on the backfoot.

Could be wrong but ISTR Norman Schwartzkopf saying much the same after Desert Storm ie that the Coalition forces could have swapped hardware with the Iraqi army and the outcome wouldn’t have changed because of the relative levels of training and morale.

I agree, the current crop of young hot shots are very pleasingly free of the usual racing driver arrogance

TBF it seems like Max Verstappen got the entirety of the current generations supply of arrogance… probably not enough to go around for all the rest 😉

1 halfwit working with a sensible person will have the overall effect of one halfwit…

2 halfwits working together will have the overall effect of one quarterwit…

3+ halfwits working together? Run. Just run away, quite fast…

I have witnessed this phenomenon many, many times…

Recently sorted out the speed control on my mums Kenwood Chef A901 that’s considerably older than me…

Got the same job to do on another one for my nephews mum that I rescued from a skip some time ago. Sadly its a bit later and a wee bit more tricky to do 🤔

Last couple of days have been dedicated to putting a new clutch in my mates mums Daihatsu Terios. Bit of a tedious job 😬

    @binners +1 for them too…

Got mine 3 years ago to try when I decided to let the full beard grow in instead of a goatee thinking they’d probably be shit at that price but they’ve given great service and are still doing a tidy job 🙂

Maybe a wee bit hard on batteries would be my only minor niggle 🤔

I found changing my diet to massively reduce my intake of meat, fish, eggs and, particularly, dairy made a huge impact on inflammatory pain (in my case back, knees, shoulders, hands and a dodgy elbow).
I was maxed out on Ibuprofen every day just to be able to keep on my feet. Rarely take any now.

    +1 for the Babyliss ones @AD mentioned…

Even I can make a tidy job with them 😆

Think mine were sub-£50 on a special offer from Argos just after the first lockdown ended 🤔

    Paid for themselves pretty quickly…
