If he does get the elbow, who is likely to replace him? I’m not all that read up on the internal politics of the teams

Unsubstantiated rumours abound that both Newey and Verstappen would bail if Horner goes 🧐🧐

Not sure I’d want to be the one to make any decisions with that prospect! 😬

For technique: find a comfy chair and break out lots of coffee and biscuits and go through the basic MIG videos from Jody at Welding tips and tricks on YouTube.

For the welding set: get an R-Tech or Oxford. The chaiwanese sets are pants!

    Oh man… that sucks! ☹️

He always seemed like quite a nice bloke. Serious jockin’ got me through many a Friday afternoon!

Phrased like that makes me wonder if he meant he maybe moved to RB a couple of years too early and missed out on that pairing at McLaren 🤔

I know it’s not going to happen but I’d quite like a certain German multiple world champion to follow in the footsteps of another German multiple world champion and make a comeback with Mercedes 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Either that or Alex Albon but there are a few rumours that he’ll be going to RB when Checo gets the elbow.

Sadly I think Ocon is the most likely outcome 😕

Back in 2000 when I was a student in Aberdeen my flatmate and I got paid by our landlady to hack the 30 yard long privet hedge in our buildings car park down from about 15′ tall and wide to a single row of stumps 3′ tall. We did it in late October/early November. We only needed loppers, hand saws and the brash overconfidence of 19 year olds to cut it down but a fair size of a petrol chipper and a skip for disposing of the mahoosive pile of branches afterwards.

Actually had quite a nice tidy 4′ tall hedge when we moved out the following year.

I wonder if the work that’s being done on Ammonia as a fuel might overtake Hydrogen. Wärtsilä and a couple of others seem to be pushing pretty hard with it for fuelling ships as are Toyota for smaller engines. Possibly not a solution for cars but maybe more practical than either electric or Hydrogen for trucks and buses.

Their stuff is all made in house and is very good quality.

I suspect the overall result at the end of the season will be closer but Verstappen will probably get another title without loosing too much sweat. I doubt if RB will have another year where they can stop upgrading mid season to concentrate on the 2025 car though. I think the chasing pack will be too close for that.

One of my favourite examples of his sense of humour 🤣🤣

I think the way he played John Harrison in Longitude was one of his best roles (a series that deserves far more recognition than it ever received ❤️)

Wild-ass guess based on experience from work would be that she lives elsewhere (possibly some distance away) and the house and car actually belong to a parent/elderly relative that is now in residential or nursing care. She could be staying there occasionally to save on hotel bills when visiting said relative. Renting houses out or selling them while the in-care elderly owners are still alive seems to be an absolute minefield for care fees, IHT etc.

There are thousands (probably tens of thousands) of houses around the country sitting rotting away for just this very reason. Sad and bloody frustrating given the shortage of housing across the country.

ETA: the maintenance issues may stem from there not being enough funds in the owners accounts (assuming proper financial POA is in place) to do much. It could be at the mercy of when/if the family can spare the funds to do anything.

Just done this on my bedroom.

I used Crown trade white emulsion (£11 for a big tub from Wickes, less a wee discount for a click & collect order via Topcashback 😁). Watered down by ⅓ as above. Worked a treat although it seemed to all disappear into the polystyrene coving I put up and need extra coats 🤔 (probably me being shite at decorating).

Aye, looking around a bit more it doesn’t seem that cheap after all. Think I’ve still got the covid price filter running in my brain somewhere 😆

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think that’s maybe the only possible way the start could have been better for Lando TBH 🤔🤣

Always had a bit of a soft spot for the XL cab on an International ❤️

First tractor cab I ever used that seemed like it was supposed to be operated by something vaguely human shaped 😆

1455XL is likely to be my forever favourite tractor 😍😍

At the end of the season rather than before would be my bet.

Recovery drives through the pack seem to be his specialty.

ISTR a joke in last seasons thread was about Horner having to say “great recovery drive Checo…” on the radio at every race 😆

I don’t care of they are important pollinators, I still hate them!

I keep a tin of Zambuk ointment handy at this time of year. Dab a wee bit on as soon as I realise I’ve been got by one and it seems to get rid of the itchiness straight away.

I’ve always wondered what happened to the people who were in that car.

    I remember it happening…

It’s a Transit van that was being driven by a lone woman in poor winter weather conditions at night IIRC. Don’t know if she fell asleep or something but she left the road at pretty much the top and went about 500ft down the bank into the Beeftub. Luckily the van stayed upright almost the entire way down and only rolled at the bottom. She got away with a broken arm and some cuts and bruises (ISTR she got herself out of the van and walked to Corehead farm to get help but I could be wrong… it was a very long time ago).

I’ve walked the Annandale way by stages. The loop up from Moffat through the Beeftub to the watershed is one of my favourite walks. I helped plant some of the trees in the Corehead woods that you would have ridden through on the way down from the Annandale cairn.

If you decide to follow the Lochmaben/Hightae fork in the trail there was always an issue with missing/stolen way markers crossing the hills on Rammerscales estate. Lockerbie/Castlemilk route is better marked but probably less fun on a MTB.

I’ve always had better results with stuff like Wellseal than Hylomar TBH.

It’s more down to the fit of the gasket and the mating surfaces being right than the sealant.

    What’s the tractor?

Any bets on when RB will stop developing this years car and shift focus to next years? Going on current form I reckon they could give the RB19 the chop after about Italy or so and still comfortably win both titles* 🤔
The damned thing just seems to be in a completely different league to the others!

*probably first and second in the drivers one at that

I suspect a lot of work has been going on in the background to retro-fit these kinds of weapons since Russia made war on Ukraine…

My guess is that the design process for hanging NATO munitions on them started a long time ago, most likely when the former Warsaw Pact countries started to join NATO, possibly even before given the Mig-29s that the Luftwaffe inherited from the DDR… which were subsequently sold to Poland and now Ukraine.

At very least adapter rails to go between the ex-USSR hard points on the plane and NATO gear will have been around for 25+ years plus some electronic adaptations at a guess.

I think what we have here is a disconnect between what we expect of a bike, and what the average casual/occasional cyclist people who view bikes solely as kids toys and not an early step in their kids independent life expect.

    FTFY 😉

One of my mums cousins* played a role in the SNP moving away from that end of the spectrum in his time among the party leadership:

    Billy Wolfe

Edit: * possibly a second cousin (family trees/family history has never been a big thing for me)

    Well, that was fun! 😆

Feel sorry for LeClerc… again FFS! He was doing a solid job with the tools provided up to that point 🙄

Nando looked like he was enjoying himself 😆
Really hoping AM can keep up the push as the season progresses.

Even though I’m not a fan of Verstappen that was a pretty much flawless performance. Another fine recovery drive from Perez too 😆

Did anyone else feel like there was still a bit of a grudge between Checo and Max after qualifying? Body language read like it to me somehow.

It was 4 Belgian F16s, out and back from Coningsby I think. Out over my house and same back!

When I saw them I wondered if they’d made a run over the ranges at Spadeadam.

I was working near Annan and thought they looked like they were coming from that kinda direction 🤔
