2.35 Bontys on my 819s, quite big 2.35s aswell, I have no eye deer how this effects the profile.

What is the legal standpoint? I believe there are no by-laws prohibiting dogs, pedestrians and horses from MTB trails. However, I only care when sycophantic morality from armchair experts kick in.

    Wheres TJ ?

FWIW I take my dog around all trail centres, never use a lead or do a recall and hang his poo bag up outside the cafe on a tree. If I bother clearing it up at all.

Rich- Was a guy riding on the hill above to the right if youre riding from stepping stones to 7 springs, he said it was OK. I think hednesford hills side probably will have most, cannock side serpantly had more than stafford.

I had UST 2.35 Supertaky High Rollers., not Lust. I dotn think lightening em up will make them fast rolling, as they are still made of glue at 42a.

I changed my 2x 42a UST high rollers to a Spesh Roller RS with stans on the rear, a bit quicker rolling but got rid of both and now run Bonty Jones ACX TLR, 2.35. Seem a good allrounder, not gone anywhere proper rocky yet but sidewalls dont seem too flimsy and pumped up straight away on 819s.

I got good price from Swinnertons Cycles.

I admit that I was privately educated and don’t really work as I have a substantial trust fund. However I only own 2 decent bikes (Ok they are very bling) and I ride alot due to the love of bicycles and dirt, always been the same. Just cus I’m well off doesn’t mean I’m any less of a biker, and certainly not ATGNI, I’ve paid my dues.

Ifyou can ride confidently down a red XC trail and OK on 2 foot drops youll be OK. There is bigger stuff (much bigger) but you dont have to ride it.

I like riding the bits round Wonderland, Litle Bringewood/ Balboa, more like techish downhill singletrack than a proper DH track.
Have a look here, ride it all and you’ll be pooped.

Well if you riding on your normal UK trail bike it will not be as beefee as a DH bike, so a trail bike in t’alps may break a bit more easy than a DH bike, if you are using same trails, yes?

Plus ridign all day in heat on harder trail makes yu more tired so you take poor line choices, ride a bit less finnessy whatever.

Last year I smashed a rim, Del totalled a wheel, Jims crank snapped, Cockey-wide-boy-geezers we were with had some bits break iirc (including a cracked jey crack’n’fail).

However I think the baggage handlers do as much damage as riding the things…

If something hasnt broken on a trip to the Alps I would count that as lucky. or you ride like a gayer.

819s- check the UST nipple/eyelets things are all tight, I had to tighten a few of mine up, it has same effect on spokes as loose nipples.

I hadto have one 819 rebuilt with new rim as I had flatspotted the rim and the buggerign spokes wouldnt stay tight. I think 819s may be a bugger to get spokes correct once a bit of damage has knocked the rim about a bit.

If you want to try tubeless 819s are very stiff, can take a beating and are not too heavy. I run those and Im 15 stone(all solid muscle).

Its the contractors who may actually eff/not eff the trails up. Our local official trails have to be reinstated after forestry works, but the contractors dont know what is official and what isnt- so some cheeky trails were left Ok after works a few years ago, they’ve wised up now though :-(

Phil they were made for our local official trailbuilders by someone with some steel plate, a few may have been ‘liberated’.

I’ll ask a man wot might know.

    A & B.

We’ve fixed up and improved a few trails that have been wrecked by thinning / storm damage. Even if the old trails are under there somewhere there will be tractor ruts and so on. Maybe make some wood features if there any logs left.

Stikkee rubber, stiffer soles and modern flat peggils are nothing like reeboks and power straps of old. With good shoes and pedals your feet really dont move at all. As for bunny hops etc you just need to point your toes down and have a practise.

There should be some self imposed STW towers rules on taste and decency of ads, the site has gone beyond those IMO. The ‘new’ state of ads yanks my crank.

    Purple Extreme is rubbish.

Finish line green is messy, attracts crap and wont last through big wet rides.

White lightning waxy whatever chain needs to be utterly clean before application otherwise rubbish, then only OK.

RnR Extreme does seem good but you need a bit to clean chain so seems expensive.
