Torque wrenches are a great idea for those without the infinite wisdom of TJ. Ritchey do a bike specific one but its not cheap. Proper engineering ones arent cheap either and the ones Ive had havnt always had the same units as that stated for the compeneent- as the tools were UK and the components US of Goddam A.

I forgot to mention one time an Audi had parked blocking the same bridleway as I rode past I ‘noticed’ a rep in it tugging off to Club magazine. He didnt even alter his stroke as I rode past, just kinda made a cupped left hand-cover for Captain Picard. FAF.

I wont mention pushing a pram down the pavement with cars blocking it forcing you to go round it on the road with mini-me. Same thing. Selfish twunts.

I get really tight thigh/arse muscles from too much stretching a few months back. Deep HEAT and gentle stretches do seem to help. Tie your laces up whilst standing up.

Bridleway entrance I use alot is often blocked by socer dads Audis, its just seen as somewhere to park. If they get scraped by my brake lever tough sh1t, but I wouldnt do it on porpoise.

What rim? If yur tyres and tubes are proper UST you dont need rimstrip. With non-UST tyres / UST rims the Stans rimstrip can help the seal but its not necessary.

Soem hefty rocky downs around Hollinsclough, you can do a route from Longnor if you grab an OS map.

No, they go creaky and corrode unless you clean the outside of them regularly. Work well but no better than XTR and can eat your frame.

Friend has new Goretex ones and are superb.

I’ve been to the alps a couple of times and I’ve heard that Canada is better?

    Sweeping statement there.

2 mates live in Vancouver and ride Whistler but prefer riding North Shore and Squampton.

John, you can only ride in straight lines anyway.

I had a new rear Hope hub with thru axle and put a DT RWS in, it does stiffen up the frame a bit (but not much) and is less faff than a QR but expensive.

People who own Lupine LEDs are very happy with the robustness and performance and lack of faff not only ruining their own ride but also their friends rides.

Stoppiggn mid ride to change batteries is daft, dont you fix a puncture before riding?

Ive spent a bit of time camping/train one year and bike/car aother time. Went to lots of places, it was always pretty and lots of stinky cheese and tastymeat to eat. Hitching is pretty easy if you want to dump the bikes and seemed very safe. Offroading mentality seems to involve fireroads up & down, LBS gave us offroad routes based on the size of our cassettes, seriously.

Just south of Bad Goisern is a village called Hallstatt which is the most pictureskewer place Ive ever been AND it has amazing ice caves- well worth a small detour. We camped by the lake just down the road in Obertraun Winkle.

Lots of insects live in rotting wood. No little insects = massive food chain shortage in nature.

Dont forget about the little insects.

3/4 will let water in through tops of socks & boots, and if its proper pissing down in can come though the neck of your jacket. I got soaked in my Gill eVent jacket in the Lakes, came in through seams, which are supposedly sealed.

If we count Sunday as start of the week then 1 good ride with Snakebite then 3 good rides in the snow so 50 milesish, plus commuting so another 40. Thats 90.

    So why am I overweight?

Last night I moved my Bonty tubeless tyre from one wheel to another, with gunk still in. It took about 5 mins, no tubes to put in, put on with fingers etc.

IMO its the sealant which is the good bit, I did it cuz of thorn punctures. Havent had one since I switched.
I dont really care about weight and TBH havent noticed a difference in that or grip. Only gone down once but it blew back up and resealed.

I use 819 rims and Bonty tubeless tyres. Blow straight up no probs.
Lack of UST tyres is a bit rubbish, Ive also used Stans strips and normal tyres on UST rims, they area faff to blow up first few times but you do learn how to do it.

Its not one for serial tyre switchers.

I just walked in through reception with my helmet under my arm and Hi Vis vest on, everyone was amazed at my masculinity for riding my bike in this morning. Then I told the receptionist I was on slick commuter tyres, and the snow wasnt as deep as the other day yet. :HERO:
