The Portugal experience sounds fantastic, but what, over a decade ago or so we in the UK had CYB pioneering and all the Welsh trail centres and uplifts followed, FOD, Cannock etc, 7 Staines and other Scottish places all funded through various means and plenty of active volunteer groups. Much of that has literally rotted away but go to some places and they are more popular than ever, some almost deserted, funding for maintenance/ rebuilds very limited and a shit ton of red tape which pretty much prevents volunteers doing anything worthwhile.
Locally we recently had massive funding for the commonwealth games, some of which provided a new family trail which is very popular, there is a dedicated DH area run and maintained by a few dedicated people, a couple of still very popular but getting a bit run down/ dumbed down XC trails, used to be some very well attended XC dig days but thats finished ( red tape) but lots of off piste to ride for the Youtube gopro vloggers.

Torx rotor bolt with the edge filed off works great, can be put in a drill bit to start the build.

The Spadas are definitely an aero DH fit.

My xt linkglide mech and shifter have been fine, had it since February on full power unrestricted ebike.

Do the more expensive linkglide cassettes have a better surface treatment? I’ve got 8 months out of my LG400 10spd running two chains and it’s starting to slip on the smaller cogs, which is OK wear IMO.  I was going through 12spd deore in 4 weeks before I got linkglide.

Think the XT cassettes also have replaceable smaller cogs

I have 2.3 TRPs in my Codes, works fine.

I have a 223 Galfer on my ebike, with galfer adapter I think and magura MT7s.
Im convinced it makes my forks significantly flex more (160 mm lyriks) when braking hard.

This will cut through most brambles and take out a good arc swing of bracken once the sides have been sharpened. Light so not too tiring to use or carry and not too long, it sticks out of a backpack about 20cm.

Trails in the woods are good reasonably steep tech and easy to loop round on the fireroad. Best riding IMO is quiet time footpaths or totally off paths.

Decent bike knee pads and jeans is a minimum. Learning to knee slide is like learning a trick but basically wear every safety accessory available. Full face, shin pads and gardening gloves ftw.

Had a new mellow park open by us so going to make an effort to get back at it now the kids have gone back to school.

I’d love to see Gee land his drop.  Maybe someone else will get the nod to put it in a line / take on Gees line?

Does seem to be not enough new talent though.

    Road signs in the UK.

I used to put the roadworks signs out on motorways, 1,2 3 miles and 000’s of yards until you hit the cones. Everything was measured out in metres, sign placing, cones, white lines, road widths, bend radius, the whole road network basically. But not the numbers on signs.

I’ll happily throw imperial measurements into the sea.

I use an XT chainset and GX 12 spd everything else apart from an Eagle chain. Works great. Go for shorter cranks aswell, 165 rides much better than 175 IME.

They all mention who the original idea came from. As did everyone who used an FSR Rear end for 25 years.

Paid a licence fee to Horst Lietner / Specialized

IIRC apart from Nicolai as Karl actually invented it when working at / for Leitner.

Im not convinced by zero friction, Hambini is doing something to disagree with his results, cant wait.
I use smoove and squirt, they are way better in dry weather than wet lubes, but wet mtb needs a wet lube.

When I lived in the UK it was the ‘thing’, but moving to BC, we just tend to have a car park and if we are lucky a basic toilet.

    Nobody likes a show off.

There are plenty of towns and villages surrounding Cannock Chase all within riding distance or right on the trails and have great train links to Brum. However your job would need to involve purchasing a big pick up truck and you would need to be bright red, bald and have bad tattoos, preferably up to and including your throat.

Older Fox float internals can rattle, known issue solved by getting a different shock.

I put a larger chainring on just to try and eek out more cassette / chain life after switching to Linkglide.  Running 38t 11-48 I think and very very rarely use the low cassette gears.

Ive been using linkglide 11spd with 2 XT chains in rotation on my E bike probably over 6 months now maybe 1000 miles, chains starting to jump occasionally on smallest cog and mech has a bit of wobble. Still shifts really well though.

I’ve seen plenty of people running it, you don’t even need a bike.

I’ve also seen people on horses on Follow your Dad & the Monkey trail, they are a bit like a bike with suspension, but a lot bigger.

The cube battery cover can be tweaked to provide a tight fit, the lock needs removing then adjust the top bolt thing.

Just make sure the port is shut and dont spray a hose at it.

@thered 165 XTs on my proper bike if you want a spin. I put 30t chainring on as it does make a difference in power/ torque whatever over 175.

1-4 hours ebike or all day possible on a proper bike from the garage door. Bonkers amount of trails locally if you know where you’re going. 3 hours today on the pedals all quality woodland singletrack then beer. Peaks , Wales,  Shropshire all an hour or so but can’t be arsed driving to ride unless I’m having a day off work and making an effort to go elsewhere. Definitely go other places less than I used to. Partly having 3 kids/ less time but also just cant be arsed driving instead of riding.

I use one of these, if you sharpen the edges & keep them sharp you can get through clumps of work of ferns and most brambles in one swipe. I can clear a full trail on Cannock Chase before resharpening.
