Letting agencies are one stage down the scum scale from estate agents in my experience. Talentless muppets who make things as complicated as possible in order to try and make themselves look important.
We had to deal with one recently, and the bull**** they pull is unbelievable. I had to correct our “senior lettings associate” twice because she didn’t understand the form she was making us sign, and then had to use a pencil and a bit of paper to show her why her sums were wrong about the deposit balance I was to pay on getting the keys.
Then to add insult to injury, she had me sign and date and time every page, all 27 of them, making sure that the time increments on each page.
What a bunch of incompetent muppets.

My parents bought me a combined mini TV / Radio the xmas before 1982, the year the Falklands broke out, and I used to listen in secret to Radio Luxembourg under the covers at night from abroad lol, as I thought it was soo cool listening to something from abroad. However, I remember to this day listening to an extended news discussion on there, which more or less stated that the Russions were backing up Argentina, and US was going to back us up, which would lead to WW3.
I was sh****ng myself for days and weeks after that. I really do think it changed me, which is a terribly sad thing to say. Felt a real sense of hopelessness for a long time after that. Seemed to coincide with my semi goth period, listening to the cure lol

The most treasures thing I bought my missus after our wee one was born, was an eternity ring. You get them at all price points and I hadn’t realised how much it meant to her till she thought she had lost it recently. She was inconsolable. Needs to be something she can keep really

I have walked it a couple of times but more recently did a section as an enjoyable weekend. Train from Glasgow first thing Saturday to Crianlarich, then bike to Kinlochleven, (I found this enough for my fitness!) stay over then back on the train from fw on Sunday. Only section that used to be tricky for cheap accommodation was kings house, but the new log huts at the ski centre look perfect

Our flat was like this, but it had a constant air extraction system which constantly ran silently in the background. It had a boost button which ramped it up for 10 minutes when needed. That and the dishwasher meant no smells really

Nah Its not worth that much! Everything in life just seems difficult at the moment. Loss adjuster for the buildings claim called to say that the insurer won’t pay the letting agent directly, so could I call to give them my bank details, and now they are saying they won’t get payment to me for 5 working days! My move in date is Tuesday

What app are you playing the video stream in? If the mac is pre 2011 I don’t think desktop mirroring is supported in the new mac OSs. You have to have a later mac. The only place you can stream video from is iTunes

Did anyone see the “Great big energy saving challenge” on bbc2, just finishing now. They had a solar air heater, which looked amazing! Lines of drinks cans, glued together and sprayed black, in a glass fronted frame and then feeding through an insulated ducting into the house, was pumping out warm air into the house at 30 degrees for free. There must be a catch though. Although without sun or bright daylight, it must be useless. So nights would be cold

Phil & Teds explory here and it’s amazing, built like a tank, as it’s designed to take a second seat underneath. Been everywhere with us, including the beach, and folds flat for sleeps.

I had a c-class at one point from 2001, and it was a great car. Mercedes specialist friend of my Dad said that era had problems across the range, as they had a muppet at the top of the company who forced cutting design and quality corners.
I do think they aren’t as robust, but I think it started to get better from about 2004 onwards. Same as any other car though, if you get one that’s been looked after with all the stamps in the book, should be good.

I dont think anyone is right or wrong really, but this isnt about the daughter really, if it was, you wouldnt even be thinking about moving out and leaving her.
Its really about how much you do really love her deep down, and I think the daughter thing is just a symptom of the underlying issue.

Time to move on, both for your sake and hers. You both deserve people you can properly commit to.

Holding shift and right click in windows explorer shows the “open command window here” option.
Can’t believe I didn’t know this existed in windows, could have saved me a good dose of RSI!

I really enjoyed the film the road, but since having our daughter I can’t stand to watch it. I just can’t imagine looking after her when horror is all around, terrifies me.

So how many people are actually prepped for such an eventuality? I’m assuming the following should be a good start…

    Stock of bottled water
    Stock of canned foods
    Candles and lighting method
Solar charger for any torches etc
    Wind up torch and radio
Reinforce the garage windows with bars etc and store all this in there
Spare diesel in jerry cans in the garage
A weapon whether legal or illegal?
    Martial arts training
    Some kind of veg garden?

I have none of the above but it’s making me think!

I am a Talisker drinker, but when out with a friend at the Scottish Whiskey Society recently, I tried one called “engineer’s lunchbox” which absolutely blew me away. Smelled like sitting next to a peat fire which was blowing back slightly, so smoky, and wonderful taste. I raved about it for days, but unfortunately, £60 on a bottle of whisky is too rich for me these days :-(

If all the car details are in your name, sell it and don’t answer any of her calls. Screw her £1800 deposit, was there any proof that she provided it? That’ll teach her to go around messing people’s lives up. Karma big time

I think there is a lot of stuff around beasting the West Highland Way in a day, but there are some big climbs and descents, which I have found make the trip for mere mortals a two day shot. Follow the Way from Crianlarich, past bridge of Orchy, and then up over rannoch moor to Kingshouse. The new wooden cabins at the Ski Centre look like the perfect first night stop, then on to FW the next day.

Drive to Glasgow, get the train to Crianlarich, cycle the West Highland way through spectacular countryside to Fort William, do a couple of trails around FW, and then train back to Glasgow. Awesome few days

When I used to fly to health row a lot on business, I remember seeing it take off whilst I was in the BA terraces lounge, the one with the floor to ceiling glass overlooking the runway. Everyone in there got up and stared out of the glass as it was something to see. The fact that most of the people in the lounge were hardened business travellers, and they stood and stared like school kids shows how special it was.

Yeah we have that problem, she is on her own :-( I think I’m going to make the effort to take her to the local skate park, it has a really good play park right next to the skate park, and lots of groms on scooters and little bikes.

Just wondering if it will be too slow though. I had bought a little 240v to 12v converter but discovered it only put out 5A, which made the pump run so slowly it was letting more air back than it put in

Thanks for the responses guys. The guy who purchased seems okay, he has taken it to his local watch specialist who can’t look at it in detail till tomorrow, but thinks it may be the main spring. If we are lucky, he thinks it may just be disconnected, if unlucky, then it may be broken. So he will have a look tomorrow, if he comes back with a silly quote to fix, Ill just get it sent back to me and Ill take it to the repair shop here. I think the guy really wants the watch, so the deal would probably still be on. Just the cost of shipping, £90 each way :(

Anyone got any experience of cost to replace a main spring on a Rolex Sub? The repair it had along with the service was a bent main shaft or axle I think? So not sure if removal of this would mean disturbing the main spring?

Is it at all possible to turn the power off to the upstairs sockets? Use a power extension from downstairs, to verify if it’s the pwer sources causing the issue. If it is, then would it be possible to get a new extension put in? Ensuring it’s a better quality unit than the existing one. I had a newish flat, and the quality of the internal wiring was a disgrace.

Failing that get a spark to check the sockets are all installed and shielded as well as they can possibly be.

I am still looking forward to going to see this. I do like a cheesy blockbuster zombie film. But then I liked Day after tomorrow, 2012, and 28 days later. Jeez I even enjoyed 28 weeks later!
