Cool cheers! The only issue I had with the door sensor for the garage was that the roof will be the weakest entry point :-( All the rest sounds good. Im fitting the alarm box in a central cupboard tucked under the stairs. Im getting one keypad, the remote, portable battery one with the panic button on, so we can take it upstairs with us at night. So there wont be a box on display anywhere as such.
scottyjohnFree MemberAnnoys the sh*t out of me, but to be honest, I see it all the time in the private sector too. Companies that are 2% technical ability and 98% contract lawyers!
scottyjohnFree MemberWe had our baby 6 weeks premature and after seeing the apnea monitors they use in ICU, we decided on an angelcare one too.
Best money we have ever spent IMO. Such peace of mind knowing that if she stopped breathing for 20 seconds, the alarm goes off. Awesome bit of kit.
scottyjohnFree MemberHave had my Apple TV a few years now and the fact that Iplayer etc werent on there p’d me off. So I only really use mine for Netflix, but I find myself using my Ipad for that more often than not anyway.
Since Sky added all the catch up services onto their box, I dont go anywhere else for media. I had a friend who didnt have Sky, and he bought a NowTV box as I think you can get the catch up channels through that even when the subscription card runs out. Its crazy cheap too. I dont stream anything to the TV from a NAS or such, so my ATV is almost redundantscottyjohnFree MemberIve got the same as Dobbo above, little campbeds and really comfy. Tried everything else and nothing worked
scottyjohnFree MemberHis early stuff about Ivan the terrible and the Crucifiction were awesome. A huge meandering build up with huge detail, then Bam! punchline and the place dies laughing :-)
scottyjohnFree MemberLol Bensales,
Thanks guys, lots of good inspiration there. My primary design goal is to make the Ux as relevant and straight forward as possible, but if that can be done with a cool looking UI then all the better. Your right, the user groups will ultimately decide, but Id rather narrow their options to something that better fits the company direction in terms of user desktop look and feel. Have a meeting with one of the UI designers next week, and these will help me show / explain what Im thinking of.Thanks again :-)
scottyjohnFree MemberIm liking the Bell one mentioned! I can’t find where to be able to try one though, anyone seen one in the Glasgow area?
scottyjohnFree MemberIve never seen a really bad looking w211, so dont know if the ones I have seen have been particularly well looked after? Or is it structural rust out of site thats the issue?
scottyjohnFree MemberI was looking at around 2003 – 2005. My brother in law has a garage and I get most repairs at parts cost so parts etc wouldnt be too big an issue. Given I can get 50mpg out of my Audi, what do you think the likely mpg would be for the 220, 270, and 320 engines?
Also, what are the opninions of a 5 series of the same age / price? One of the new shape though not the older 5 series.scottyjohnFree MemberIf you cycle from the top end of the Glen along the road till you get to the start of the old military road and follow that all the way down to the Clachaig, I did this on a summers day with long grass brushing my legs on the way past, with the scenery and all, I have to say it almost felt spiritual!
scottyjohnFree MemberI used this on all my fencing two summers ago and is still in good nick, but Im going to redo this year anyway. B&Q do specials two for one at some times…

scottyjohnFree MemberSquarespace is amazing looking, and has a good interface, but I have used wix.com for a few friends, and their builder and templates are pretty good.
scottyjohnFree MemberHi,
We did this flying with a holiday company we used to work for a few years ago when ours was only 7 months old. It was great, although the car seat took up the third seat so was more expensive than if she was just with us on lap. Car seat fitted fine but for take off and landing we had to sit the little one on our lap with the proper extension belt. Other than that, it made a huge difference as she sat very contented for the whole flight. It was only a 4 hour flight though. We couldnt do it through the normal booking channel though and we got a friend from the airline to book it through their system knowledge.Id recommend it
scottyjohnFree MemberAbout 5 miles from my car in Ae, tacod the rim on my front and had to push my bike back all the way on the back wheel. My mates all went on to finish the ride, bamsticks! lol
scottyjohnFree MemberEnduring Love is a film that always sticks in my mind, such a strange premise and looks into every avenue of the human psyche I think
scottyjohnFree MemberHi guys,
Ive been trying Trello for the last week now, and I like it a lot, but the missing part seems to be time tracking, i.e. how long things are in the working on column, and when they were finally moved to the Done list? Any ideas how to augment this to reflect what Im after?Seems really good otherwise
scottyjohnFree MemberIf the current relationship isnt a shout fest most of the time, and all your after is a bit of a cuddle, you need to talk it out and make changes to make it better. Otherwise, suck it up and stay put for the kids sake. Sorry but I think thats just the deal when you have kids that age.
scottyjohnFree Member+1 for Doh’s suggestion, used to do that back when I had spare time! lol
scottyjohnFree MemberHmm, I like the look of Trello! Will give that a go, cheers
scottyjohnFree MemberGreat guys, thanks, I’ll pick up a tin of the osmo oil this week, sounds exactly what I’m after. Thanks again for the advice
scottyjohnFree MemberMy mate uses the tado controller and he loves it. I have ordered one too, and the thing that swung me to tado is that it installs on your mobile devices and tracks your location, so knows when you come and go, learns about regular patterns and adjusts the heating automatocally. If your away and go to head home, the tado app knows this and turns the heating on at the right time to get the heat up to temp by the time you get home. If you come home every Tuesday evening, but are only in for 15 minutes and then head out again, it learns that and knows not to turn on the heating. The location thing is what makes it awesome. And my mate can see on graphs when his missus has returned and left the house, so slags he if shes late lol. You can either pay an up front cost, about £240 I think, or pay it every month at £6.99 a month. Follow them on twitter and ask a question and a guy will call you to check that you got the answer you need, and also offer you a 10% discount. Seem like really nice people too
scottyjohnFree MemberWhat do you use your PC for? That might steer your decision. Lots of secondhand Macbooks on ebay, gumtree etc, and I have bought from those sources before with no probs, so always an option?
scottyjohnFree MemberShe sounds like a right muppet. But its not the guy’s fault so just pay and go have a good time. I think your right in that it may put a lot of people off just for the rudeness of it.
scottyjohnFree MemberI had a Geography teacher called “Mad Harry” who had a mini crossbow that fired chalk. Caught talking and you got shot! lol
One of my mates got held by a PE teacher while his mate the music teacher leathered him! Heard the Music teacher had a nervous breakdown a few years after we left. Man had serious issues!scottyjohnFree MemberHad it last week, along with a chest infection, and floored me for the full week. Still struggling a bit, but back at work and starting to feel a bit more normal.
Dioralyte sips was all I could do for daysscottyjohnFree MemberI really like the look of them, but a friend who is an AA man said it was the car they see the most problems with. He advised to never touch one with a barge pole. Might just be anecdotal rubbish, but hes a good guy and I trust his opinion :-)
scottyjohnFree MemberNo mate, not in Knightswood.
Peterfile, its stuff that has been ongoing for years, before I bought the property apparently. Nothing came up on searches though that said there was any flood risk in the area, SEPA reporting seems to be a bit of a chocolate fireguard.
The main flooding thing has got worse since they built houses behind us, but the sewer thing is totally new, and looks like is associated to the development also.
Scottish Water have replied to our MP stating they have found an “issue” with a sewer overflow, so hopefully will get that report at a meeting we are having with them in Feb.And yes, it has been stressful, but the main concern is how this affects insurance premiums going forward, and house prices in the street.
scottyjohnFree MemberThanks guys, I’ll have a look there. And I’ll also speak to my insurer about getting some legal assistance for us. Thanks again guys
scottyjohnFree MemberThanks Nipper,
Ive had a look and will drop them a mail to see if they can point me in the right direction.
The insurer will cover the lost items and repairs, but there is clear evidence that poor planning decisions and possibly some negligence from the builder have caused this issue. The insurer wont cover us for various costs associated to being uprooted, and also the fact that our houses are now on a flood register, with the associated increase in insurance premiums and impact on saleability and value. Act of god would be one of those things, but it being caused by someone not doing their job properly is a different matter.scottyjohnFree MemberMy mate walked it with his father and said it was a life changing experience! He met his wife on the walk, and they named their first child Santiago, or Jago for short!
scottyjohnFree MemberChanel allure homme sport is great. However after a mate of mine gave me a small tester bottle, I got a bottle of Creed Green Irish Tweed, and it is awesome. Lasts all day and then some, and was Oliver Reed and Sean Connery’s fragrance of choice, so its gotta be cool aint it :-)
scottyjohnFree MemberYou can get a Sky Now TV box for £9.99 and flash it back to the normal Roku software, and get a full feature roku box for £9.99 :-)
You get all the advantages of the roku, and can watch Sky through now tv also.scottyjohnFree MemberYou can buy a now TV box which is basically a roku with different software on. Only £9.99 and does most stuff you might want. My experience with my atv3 has been frustrating to say the least! Doesn’t reliably do anything I wanted except play netflix!
scottyjohnFree MemberThe good thing is they will be replacing all the flooring, so we will be back to a good level bare rectangular shell. All the pipes etc come from under the flooring so should be straight forward to pop them up exactly where they are needed. Ive fitted about 4 kitchens in my time, with the help of my old man (the skilled one!) All B&Q and they were all fine, so either B&Q or Ikea Im thinking. Will all depend on what the contractor quotes :-( Im not feeling very lucky these days though!
scottyjohnFree MemberThanks guys, we are hoping the contractor gives a large quote as the adjuster says he will give us the contractors quote minus vat as a cash settlement.
Cant see refitting new carcasses, and then fitting old doors to new hinge points etc, probably need modified to do so, and fitting old worktop back on, sink in, appliances in etc being a cheap job for a contractor working for an insurance company? So hoping its a large quote and we can get a complete ikea basic kitchen for the same money. Fingers crossed as its been a stressful few weeks! Could do with a wee bit of good luck out of all of this!
scottyjohnFree MemberIm dreading leaving our rental, we have been put there temporarily due to flood damage at our own place, and I am guessing they will try it on big time when we leave
