Not so fussed about the legal bit, more about the grin factor. I’ve come across quite a few sections and cursed not being on two wheels …

Thanks all, sorry – there is a ‘what would you like’ bit – neat tricks I was referring to.

Yes thanks, the hub is white/rim is grey – so 2009-2011.

The Risseracing link shows the replacement hub as 100mm, is there another conversion kit needed also?

Very quick smiley face, thanks both – two very safe sounding ‘tangs’ and job seems a good’n.

Okay, back out to the garage with the appropriate tools – mallet, gaffer tape, first aid box and a celebratory/commiseratory beer.

    I have the pre-outboard adjuster BB7’s (2010?). Unless there is a stealth outboard adjuster … ?

I recon you’ve got a valid point on grass routes feel and lower entry levels at events. However, the man/woman hours that go into event planning and direction certainly makes the minimum wage feel like a dim and distant memory:o)

Having said that, there are events like the 24/12 hour of Exposure, Brighton Big Dog, Singletrack Weekender, Bearded Men ones (don’t know much), Strathpuffer etc. Progression (either upwards or downards) is an inevitable inertia. Quality attracts people. Sara and Paul tripled their entries this year, chapeau, I say.

No Fuss, Pro Velo and Mike Wilkens (and the others) have all established a ‘brand’ following because they consistantly hit out high quality events and … well, everyone needs to make money!

Mountain Tops are inspirational places – riding trails and looped routes are … something different, you climb to achieve a top … you ride trails to achieve flow. Different but the same.

People use guide books to find where to flow in general and read magazines to be inspired, initially and to use the route guides.

I suppose it is all about ethical and controlled enjoyment, the voluntary Snowdon riding limitations being an example of that. But at the end of the day, Snowdon has a stonking big railway/cafe up it and the Cairngorms has a ski lift/cafe. The UK mountainous regions have been an economic asset for some time. If snow is to be less certain, then the more bikes appear at these locations, the better for the economies that have been built up over the years. Look at Aonach Mor.

Not sure wheter I prefered working registration or riding … nah, riding – what an absolute hoot! Special memories of the ELBNO – howling wind and rain in a massively tranquil place on awesome trails; on your own, but not on your own.

A big up to Mike and John and the guys. Fantastic weekend.

Talk about positive mental attitude. from BBC:

‘David Westgarth, of the Raasay House Community Company, said: “What has happened is absolutely tragic, particularly as the house was looking so fantastic.

“We are all a bit dumbstruck at the moment, but this is not the end of things by any manner of means.

“We will build a new centre. There is a huge amount of community support for the scheme and whenever you get a setback in a small community everybody gets together to overcome it.”

Raasay House managing director Lyn Rowe said: “We have had a number of setbacks with this project over the years and we are not going to let this one stop us.

“We will rise from the ashes.”‘

Although 2009 is uncertain, the Raasay Rumble is not down or out. It’ll be back!
