To me it sound odd that you can even enter the lotto without doing a qualifier.

Interest you can race enduro on a BC licence outside of the UK but BC don’t sanction/support enduro in the UK. Sounds odd.

You’d not agree that digging trails has got way more popular and cooler the last few years?

I would say its grown at about the same rate as the popularity of mountain biking.

Edit: can’t comment on Scotland, As I don’t know the seen and I don’t know the history of areas like the tweed valley. My comment relates to the SE of England.

I understand that you may disagree with them, but can you really be surprised? It’s a big part of MTB for riders for the last 20years+ and it’s not going to change any time soon.

In the area I live most official riding spots would not exist with illegal digging at some point in time.

The two websites southernenduro.co.uk and the ticketing site tell you very little.
Sorry been slack on the website, I have now added all the events with more info.

Will there time penalties for missing your start time.

No time penalties are planned. However the stages will close at a set point.

Thanks Scott. Tempted by the Champs lite, though would rather do all the stages if coming for a weekend. Especially the steep and tech ones, I’m guessing the more hardcore stages won’t feature in the lite. Appreciate you put on races for racers, but for me being well down the rankings the social aspect is a big part since I’m only really racing my mates. Unfortunately I’m a fair bit older but no slower than my riding buddies, which is why the WGES mashup format appeals.
Just a for a slightly different point of view I have meet some really cool people* traveling around racing in my age cat, especially at the early UKGEs. Now when we go racing we all me up and practice together even though some are now in vets.

*Kimbers remove the word cool for you mate 8)

So to ride with someone of a different age/sex (but similar speed) we’d need to enter the fun category? To be honest would only be entering for fun anyway, certainly won’t be bothering the sharp end of the results.
If you want to ride with friends all weekend you need to enter the Champs Lite.

In the Champs you can practice on Saturday with your friend but for the race you will be in you age/sex cat.

So will have to ride with people who are (a) in the same age/sex category and (b) have a similar seeding time?

Yes you will be given a start time for seeding base on your category. I.E male seniors will all seed from 16:00 to 16:10 in number board/start time order.

thats a good point, seeded overall? or seeded categories?

    categories

In for the champs. Not sure I quite get how the seeding/waves/starttimes work.

On Saturday afternoon you will race one of the stages (Seeding stage)*
Your result on that stage will reflect where you start on Sunday. On Sunday you will be set off in categories in seeded order.
There will be start times for each stage.

*Seeding stage counts to your overall time.

I have a history of confusing the hell out of locals mixing up tracks. Top of one into something else then switch to this or that. Big bus stop etc…good luck locals ;)

I really wish it wan’t going live for another month as my bank account hasn’t recovered from Ard Rock, local DH and British National Champs entries this month

It would be great if it sell out quick but we have 400 entries for the champs so I can’t see them all going on Saturday but I have been proved wrong before when it come to ticket sales.

I had full intention of doing the series this year, particularly after BES folded, but being down the bottom end of Cornwall, the reality of travelling the south and south east for a single day race, just wasn’t financially feasible for me in the end, which was a shame. Even getting to round 1, my nearest, was still over 4 hours of driving each way.

I did look at doing a SW series but the logistics didn’t work. The venues are there but would need to partner with a local if I ever did it, a bit like the Welsh enduro series is set up.

Southern Champs was one of my favourite races this year!

    Cheers, such a good venue!

For your info guys the Southern Enduro full series ticket and the Southern Enduro Champs at Mindhead(Exmoor) go on sale at 09:00 this Saturday on the mordirt website.

The guys defending them here are missing the point that most people have raised and are trying to explain yet again that it’s because people ‘don’t understand’ or are ‘negative’ but are avoiding the obvious – the owners behaviour, like Donald trump supporters.

It’s very easy to criticise people for following the dream, putting their head above the parapet. Like any new business they need to find their place in the market.

They appear to be as easy target for internet bullies but when they stand up for themselves the internet bullies don’t like it.

I like their products and pleased they are confident in what they do, try some new ideas and mix new ideas with old ideas.

further up the trail where it flattens out, grass has now established on the trail over a section of 10metres. I notice the grass sections are already holding water and feeling squishy – what to do? Rake out/kill the grass? Leave it?

Any low off trail dig out and fill with gravel/stones and low point on the trail build up a bit so they are not low points.

How much riding is at QECP – I’ve only ever been through it when doing the sdw? Are the trails marked? Could be a good mix of fun bits and old school exploring.

    5km (all weather) blue trail
    5km red trail
Head out East towards Harting to extend the ride longer.

I don’t make my kids wear a helmet when they’re just pootling round the cul de sac, but they would wear them if going on a proper ride somewhere with other people/rough ground/a decent amount of riding time.

Interesting I always consider the Pootling around the cul de sac when my son is at him most vulnerable.

When off road/ longer rides he is supervised more and tends to consecrate on what he is doing.
