Just got back from digging at QE and the switchbacks are riding much better(more flow) and the is a cheeky little tabletop near the bottom. We still need to tweek the last 3 corner next time and that section will be done.

They mad lots of progress at the end of the final descent (to take out the fire road at the end) Two berms done and the rest rake out. I reckon it will take two more dig weekends to finish.

    Happy trails.

I recon unless you have been to all of them you can’t answer the question.

But out of the ones I have been to.

    1. Afan
    2.Brechfa/cwmcarn
    3.FOD
    4.swinley
    5.cannock

But new been north of cannock, doing Scotland/ the north road trip soon I hope.

I like that massive table tops at brechfa

There’s nothing scary there though so he should be OK I reckon. It’s a fair bit chunkier than FOD though. Perfect for a 5 IMHO. I’d sooner ride FOD on a HT than anything else.

Agree with that, the blue at FOD is super fast on a HT, and Cwmcarn will be great fun on a 5.

I personally like Afan and Brechfa to Cwncarn, thats just me

The blue @ FOD is good but short (with little height gain/loss) and the red is utterly forgettable. Cwmcarn is a better option IMO.

would agree that cwmcarn red is hard and more tec. maybe not for his first trail center.
There loads at FOD two blue trail 7 & 9 miles long, 2.6 mile red, skills area.

heres the info on Cwmcarn if you go there http://www.mbwales.com/en/content/cms/Centres/Cwmcarn/Cwmcarn.aspx

As kevolution said that 04 big hit came with big hit 26″ front and 24″ rear wheels. Run it as it was designed, that will work best.
I used to have one, only had it for 6 months cos it was poo. I suppose that why there so cheap.

Good luck hope you get on with your better than mine, if not buy a 08 glory frame (1 sold on Ebay for £200 last week)

had it on the lowest setting to conserve the battery

How Far did you go? High run time 3hours, low run time 24hours. You must have been riding all night

I think W2 has most bang for your buck.

+1 make sure you do the black option on whites aswell (best bit).

brechfa and do red and black.

    +1 Do Blue aswell ;)

    south west of country

do you mean UK, Eng, wal, sco?

Can i also add forest of dean in to the mix Ride the Red and the new blue(really good fun)

Go to cwmcarn and do a couple of laps

only one trail there, its very good but unless you are going to ride the DH a couple of time there not enough there for a full day.

I would bin the tensioner and go for magic gearing.

Its each to there own. I like having a tensioner, easy to adjust on the trail with a multi tool.

    scottfitz

I did my tensioner up tight then 9 speed chain streched when i went for a ride then I did my tensioner up tight then 9 speed chain streched ETC….

it took about 5 rides to sort it self out.

am worried that the chain might be a little too tight as I can lift up the chain only 0,2 inch/5mm

    Sounds fine

Take Hex key out with you if it slip nip it up tight again.

    Hope this helps

More gears = more gearing options!

Less gears, pedel faster, pedel harder, pedel longer = fitter, better rider.

Why spead so much time messing around with your gears, spend the time riding your bike!

I quite fancy giving it a go, but with place names like ‘moor and ‘plain is it not closer to a really short XC time trial?

Yer it is but with skills stages, Bombholes, Tec Downs and stuff.

    Its £35 hes link: http://www.enduro1.co.uk/shop/index.php

Disc or v-brake, not a game changer, but if disc it’s just that bit more of a bargain.
The forks probably aren’t going to be the best, but then you can spend £500-600 or more on a brand new bike and the forks are still rubbish.

    +1

Learn to do it while riding then. Its not that that hard. Just got to be careful, do it somewhere flat-ish and go slow

Really! by the time you have slowed down and faffed around with it you might aswell just stop and do it.

    somewhere flat-ish

I only drop my seat post for steep tec sections.

chris_mbuk- Get one see how YOU get on with it and if you don’t like it sell it on, to me for a cut price ;)

I went to alps last year with organic resin pads they lasted all week and were fine 35-50mile a day for 7 days. I don’t think they even went down that much. I think big rotors help keep them cool.. :-)
