Thanks Scottfitz, it wasn’t me that emailed, but go ahead and reply to who ever it was anyway

Thanks for the link to rootsandrain, looks like the Dyfi enduro slots bang into the right timescale for me. Still a fair trek, but closer than the south coast!

Not done any racing for a couple of years (to be fair I did bugger all before that too) so it should be fun and something to aim for when I get the cast off my arm
I’m the race organiser for the gravity enduro on the 21st July, we have a reserve list if you would like to go on it (Send me an email). We have already had a couple drop out. There are about 20 people on the list at the moment.

Ahh I know where you mean. Unless you have “bigged” it up a great trail that can be accesses by lots of different levels of rider and still fun for good riders.

That’s what we are aiming for, we have also put slower chicken lines around stuff but i don’t think they will get used in the DH Race, maybe in the gravity enduro.

The rock gardens will no doubt change numerous times before the event as they keep getting ripped out by some scrots and we put them back in

    That why there getting bigger/harder.

Where they hold the archery competitions ?

If its that trail, its was really nice and with a bit of work excellent That the place its woodland the park rents out for Archery,4×4, Mountain bike, motobike and mountain board events.

Scott, will the gravity enduro be using the new DH track?

yes but not all of it 70% ish.

I shouldn’t say this, being a hardtail rider and all, but could you make the rock gardens more spiky?

They have changed a bit since we first put them in. 😉

Where about’s ? I take the fact its not going to be cheeky as your race on it its OK to say

Is it the one that comes out on the road at the hill up from Buriton ?

No not that one but it is near buriton. Its in the events woodland the other side of the road.

I shall be doing this. Can you do the usual GP race thing and turn up on the day to pay?

Yes as long as it doesn’t sell out online. It’s 150 max, talking to the GP boys the other day and they said they will stop the online entries at 130 to leave 20 spots on the day. If there are only 20 spots on the day you will have to get there early to guarantee a spot.

Lets hope it stays dry for this one! QE runs really fast in the dry, and extremely tough in the wet – could be a good leveller

You are quick there is in the wet mate, If it rain you will finish high in your Cat 😉 but Hope it stays dry 8)

Email i got today from the park manager:
the weekends archery competition went well with 90 odd archers on each day. See blog. When I was up there on the Saturday two cyclists appeared right in the middle of the circuit and caused small chaos. I have an image which I will shoot across. In the end all resolved but a pain.
The organisers did mantion however that they appreciated the message on your site so thanks for that.

I went from a Giant Glory to a Dialled holeshot (140mm forks) for DH duties. I have a lot more fun now.

But of course fairies like kudos100 need triple clamps 😉

is it the full red loop

No its uses bits of the red trail and some fire roads so should be time to overtake and fuel.

    Thinking of heading down myself.

Apparently they’ve got some 650b Cube Stereo’s in the demo fleet.

Looks like there’s a good selection either way.. http://www.qecyclefest.co.uk/mtb-demo-day/ Unless you want a 26er 😉

Never been to Aston, do you ideally need a DH bike?

AM bike or Hard core hardtail will be fine.

Good comparison, Larson is like a toothier SB8. ****-all grip on anything offcamber though, and cloggy. You want a cheap one? I’m not digging it…

I will have it :D, what size is it?

    2.35″ Larsen

100% on back great tyre. I am running Minion & larson combo at the moment.

Aaah, saw those woods from the train a few times, thought they had potential.
Are these trails just cheeky or full on naughty? Or do we have permission to be in there normally?

No bikes are on head down is the official line. But I’m there tonight “Testing” out a trail for one of our events. Hope the archers aren’t doing the same!!!

Stay in the Park! Don’t cross New Barn Lane (which is the road you cross as you leave the Park on the SDW heading East). There should be signs up on all entrances to Head Down I think.

But you will be fine on the SDW 😉

Yep the mountain in scotland are a bit bigger than the hills in dorset 😉
