On my holeshot the end of my bars used to touch the tip of my saddle/penis* 😯

Got a spoon now and it no longer touches.

    *Still got the same penis.

In not to bothered about the weather, I always think it a good leveller. All rounds this year were muddy/Wet, Fod & Quantocks were worse than Aston hill and they are meant to be good in the wet.

It hard to sign up for a race if you don’t know the format.

Its a great series just needs to be a more if about the race before it and quicker results would be good too.

I have all ready said I want to every round next year, Superfli you in?

That is a good point superfli a short format/race description before each round would be good. I’m sure they used to do that on the website be for each round.

Again sounds good, one for next year if they do it again.

Out of interest, why the wet scream over muddy Mary up front?

Base on the race on sunday, Anyone with large volume tyre were really struggling with mud/grass clearance. Locked up wheels every where, it was fine if you were moving but if you stopped/crashed with large tyres you were screwed. 2.2 wet scream on the front worked a treat. (there were no rocks)

Had a great day racing (3rd in HT cat), Wet scream F and Swampy R. Worked a treat, cheers for the advice guys.

There will be spots on the day.

Why not ride the full suss if it already has the Swampies on? Having a bit of rear suspension could aid the amount of grip you have significantly…

I am signed up in the HT cat already and my HT is my DH bike and my FS is more XC/Enduro.

Does the Betty work well in mud out of curiosity? Doesn’t really look like it will but I’ve not tried one.

not tried, used the last year in les arc, tignes, pila. They work well but no muddy/wet day really.

Whatever you’re happiest riding, personally I hate swamps, too round profile with no decent edge when leant over and would rather ride minions in mud over them.

I like the swampy they seem good it the chalky, rooty, slippy stuff we have near me. hmmm thinking about it wet scream F and Swampy R, I think I will got with that.

Minion’s are a hard pack dry tyre

I know that why I plan on taking it off, I was just saying whats on there at the moment.

If it’s proper muddy then the wetscream on the front IMO. And probably the Mary in the back if it fits- more an intermediate but it’ll do the job.

agree, but it don’t fit, I could go wet scream on the front, maybe big betty or a swampy.

I had not heard of jackbrake before this thread and not noticed it on the prophet or the morewood. So its not an issue for me.

However I have changed all the bearing on a giant glory after 3 years of light use (Fuk doing that again).

Never needed to changed the one on my prophet after 5 year, still feel solid.

In my opinion Single pivots are fun to ride and simple to maintain.
I will never buy a bike with as many bearing as the glory again. For me its more hassle than it worth in the long run.

Might consider a single pivot + linkage but not this time round.

I think I will do Afan round only this year as Im doing the mega and lots of QECP stuff happening, its going to be a busy year!!!

    What’s up with your Prophet

Nothing I love it, I will never sell that frame, been riding it since 2008 and fancy trying something newer. The other option is to respray the prophet and get custom graphics.

Thats my Morewood in the classifieds, if you do want any more info let me know

I had a Morewood Shova ST for a bit, I have a prophet at the moment. Looking foe a 2013 or new really

That rockrider is £619. Strip it, sell all the parts, buy an air shock with the proceeds and you will have a decent frame for 1/2 the price of any of the other options.

Lets face it, its not that hard to design a decent single pivot and I am sure the decathlon designers will have got it right as their downhill bikes are actually pretty good. If its not boutique enough you could always respray it and get custom graphics, it will still be cheap and no one will know where it came from no 😉

Suffice to say that it’s been….interesting, and not confined to mechanical issues.

You can get cream for that.

e.g. some of this (ignoring the initial leg up from Southbourne to QE), and while you are at Kingley Vale there’s plenty of ‘diversions’ – including the DH and enduro runs at Stoughton (see Lambdown on this map)…

    This a great ride.
