scott is it near the activity centre?, was thinking of bringing the family and camping

tots near centre 2 mins walk from camping, 8+ near top of hill 5 min drive & 15 mins walk from camping

    Play areas

Let the children loose in our fantastic play areas. For children aged eight and over there is an extensive range of equipment at the Adventure Play Trail near the Juniper BBQ site. Also for children under 8 years there is a range of animal themed play equipment in the Tots Play Area close to the Visitor Centre.

I’ll stay in fun please as it’s James first event and my second but I’m at the tail end of injury recovery so will not be ‘at my best’ by a long margin. Approaching the event in the true spirit of ‘fun’
    Cool see you sunday.

My first enduro race really – bit scared
What time should we be on site?
Is this the usual car park in QECP?

even experienced racers get nervous before races. Its part of the reason we get hooked.
I will be emailing out a park/camping/sign-on map with the start times later today.

Riders Breathing will be at 17:30 but you will be able to sign-on from 16:00.

Scott, I put a request up on the Facebook page about getting myself (Al Bowen) and my pal James Angove grouped together both in fun, don’t know if you’ve seen the request or not just wanted to double check.

    Cheers
Nope missed that one, just looked did you message QECP facebook page or me? Any way Angroves and Bowen are together because they have the same team name. Remind me your second name.

P.S for the future putting the same team name as your mates is an easy way for me to put you together.

dantsw13 – if it was me, I’d go with the Heckler
But you have hobbit wheels 😉

Its just a balance of ease of transitions vs ploughing downhill in my virgin race!!

transitions are the quickest and easiest ways to the top not a drawn out transition for the sake of adding km. Some of the stages are STEEP! some are rooty, some are pedally, some are super fast, some slow and technical, some are fresh cut, same are well used, some have berms, some have jumps, some have flat corners.
    Hope that helps 8)

It does – Reverb and Smorgasbords. Special prize for the slowest rider on a HT with the most crashes??

    sounds fine to me.

Cheers Scott, probably reverse order to be honest……

I have switched you round so you are less likely to catch each other on the stages.

Hmmm – trying to decide if I should service my Heckler with 160 Marz55’s on it, or just ride my go-to bike, a Ti Fireline 29er HT??????

PS – never been to QECP, so have no idea really!
Does your Hardtail have a dropper post and aggressive trail tyres? If so go for that.

Scott – could you put myself and my mates start times together and under the name Fat Ginger Racing as per my email? Hindle, Burgman and Newhouse. Perry has had to drop out because he can’t remember the dates of his own children’s birthdays….Cheers!

Fat Ginger Racing – Hindle, Burgman and Newhouse. Done. Is that quickest first?
Get Perry to email me, I will leave him in for now in

There’s some info via the hargrove’s cyclefest site and some on FB. Anyone know if it’s going to be seeded, or just by class?

I’m entered in Sport, which i hope doesn’t prove too embarassing… Just by class, If you want to go last in sport let me know and I will make it happen 😉

We also have USE/Exposure supporting the race, so you can hire lights from them:

Hire a MaxxD they are a bargain.

Rode most of the stages on Sunday, really happy with it. Wish I was racing it not organising it 😉

Conditions: Bit muddy at moment but with the warm wind it id drying out very quickly. Forecast looks good for the second half of the week.

P.S Camping is available Friday and Saturday nights.

    My take on things:

    Stage 1:
Turning up when the time said then having to wait around an well over an hour for the start (Could of communicated it better but not end of the world) Stage was good bit on the peddle, rooty, off camber & some nice steep drops.

    Stage 2:
On the peddles to start in to some cool off piste DH stuff. Great stage.

    Stage 3:
Same on the peddles to start in to some cool off piste DH stuff with some tricky off camber sections. Not sure why it went through the bog at the end but that was probably bone dry when they scoped out the tracks. Fun stage shame it didn’t count but again not the end of the world.

    Stage 4:
Same as stage 1 but with 900 bikes down it in 6 hours. Really cut up if you were in and around 300 bib number not as fun as the first time down it. Would have been different if it was dry but it was the same for all the Hardtails. If had to choose one to do twice it would be stage 2 but that would not work for the timing.

Overall I had a good day, Planning on doing eastridge round and FoD again if I’m free.

I use and like both, but I think the Fat Albert are a bit better because of the larger volume.

Sounds like a great event – but it’s high time we cut “gravity” from Enduro in the UK and catch up with the rest of the world. anything not Enduro as in proper Enduro (rather than riding round ad nauseam for 8/12/24/3568433774 hours) shouldn’t confuse the issue.

Can’t used the term ‘Gravity Enduro’ Anyway unless you have permission from the TM owner:

My RF N/W only lasted 6/7months and has now start to drop the chain,
    RF 34t Narrow/wide
    KMC chain
    SLX Clutch mech
    SLX 11-36 cassette

Swaped for a Vectoix N/W I see if that will last longer. First observation is the teeth are bigger on the Vectiox but still runs very smooth.

Also might put the RF one on backwards on the other bike to see if I can a couple more mouths out of it.
