QECP events are great fun! Even got a free beer on the finish line on the night one!

Same again for 2015 😉 and don’t forget free camping & 50+ demo bikes.

I think Insurance costs will be going up massively for Enduro with BC out of the picture. There were a couple of tragic incidents involving spectators at a car rally in Scotland and a DH race in Wales, these will only influence that trend.

The Scottish Government is conducting a review of Motorsport Event Safety and the results of that will likely trickle down into Mountain Bike events. Land owners are also becoming more risk-averse and aware of their potential liability. You hear stories of FCS guys not signing the land use permission until the BC commissaire has signed a piece of paper saying he approves the safety of the course !

Add into the mix that Enduro is a new sport with still developing guidelines on the format and safety measures. There is no strong precedent for how the sport is run.

This means risk aversion, which could mean more mandatory safety equipment so organisers can demonstrate they are mitigating that risk. Or they could take that risk themselves. I know where I would stand on that.
Even if the Insurance goes up organisers will not be out of pocket. Not using BC’s expensive sign on and membership system will be a saving.

deviant all your pics are from enduro’s that use ski lifts to help you get to the start of stages. Very different to enduro’s in the UK.

This rule will only apply to certain events if you don’t like it don’t race or choose a event that doesn’t have the rule, simple!

Let me put my previous comment in to context. At the moment only one race organiser (5 race series) has come out and said the will make FF mandatory.

There were 50+ Enduro races in the UK in 2014 if you don’t like the rule you still have 45+ races to pick from!

However if BC start enforcing the rule on race organisers then you will have less to pick from but hopefully still enough for new riders to try the sport.

I’d also like to see a more rounded set of skills tested in Enduro.
Timed technical climb stages, along with downhill and single track stages would all be good.

put one on see how it sells! P.s good luck

Yup agreed on climbs. Timed climbs are for XC. I didn’t actually enter an enduro in 2013 as I didn’t like the idea of being “out of time” on a climb, then @scott from QECP explained that’s not how it worked but I’d already missed their 2014 event.

better keep an eye out for the 2 races in 2015 then 😉

The UK scene at the moment has jumped on the bandwagon and small organisers are putting on Enduros where they have no business holding that type of race

small organisers? No need to take the piss out of our height.

Its not always about the venue its what you do with it. In the south east QECP is the only venue/organisers that run races not saying we could hold a EWS round but what about a grassroots race? Something people can try before stepping up to the UKGE then the EWS.

Here what enduro-mtb thought:
http://enduro-mtb.com/en/race-report-grass-roots-racing-queen-elizabeth-country-park/

We have a great DH scene at that level with 17 races this year including 3 series.

I wish someone else would run Enduro’s in the south east so I could some, again it would be at a grassroots level.

I was looking for something like a blender, but a bit more sensible if you like, also something that felt a bit more sturdy than my 29er without losing too much efficiency, so i was comparing the bird to the blender and 29er in terms of fun and efficiency.

Maybe a steel Bird would have been fitting.

Once again, this is not a BC decision.

From Steve Parr Here

“Its not “a Steve Parr wanting it to be official thing, so lobbying British Cycling for it” its going to be a BC rule and I’m just giving our Customers a heads up before it becomes official.”

Sounds like BC to me.

Its not a big deal, UKGE you will need a FF helmet It will be part of the rules. So if I do any UKGE I will wear my full face, easy. Won’t stop me doing them.

The issue I have is with BC not UKGE. They have made a discussion for the enduro discipline as a whole but at a grassroots level the track/venues are and should be easier/fun. Just hope I won’t put off new riders to the discipline which could make it hard for local grassroots races to operate.

I know from experience at the QECP enduro we had 160 riders and 2 of them were wearing FF helmet. How many racing even owned FF?

Not sure what BC are trying to do but they don’t want to insure any of the enduros I have helped run. Not sure i can trust BC again, I tried in 2014 lots but every time they came up with a reason why they would not work with us.

Rant over!

And for the likes of the QECP enduro’s?.

QECP enduros will be riders choice as per pervious years.

Don’t responded!

As soon as you do you will be the first person they contact about anything remotely cycling related even if its got nothing to with you or your club. Have to attend parish meeting etc…

Put their concern to your club as an FYI and leave it at that.

It does sound expressive but they are a lot of fun. How about give it a go and if you don’t like it them make it your first and last one.

If like most of us you get hooked then welcome on board. I have sign up for this one and the FoD round of the Mini endure is a good one for your first one.

XTC Carbon is a very xc hardtail, how about as a low budget alternative a hardcore hardtail that would be appropriate for trail and DH? Some thing like this but add a 35mm stem and shorter crank arms?

They’re (Lets be honest here) quite expensive proportionally compared to say XC racing… so for me to do more they’re going to have to be pretty damn good fun

P.S QECP ones are £35 😉

Weeksy- Some info for you about the Enduro held at QECP.

QECP Day & Night enduro 2014 – Race Report

QECP Trail Collective enduro 2014 – Vid

QECP Traill Collective enduro 2014 – Race report

For 2015 We will have the same 2 races but with some new stages, Day & Night in May and QECP trail collective endure in July. But as Superfli said expect them to sell out fast.

On another note I would highly recommend the Mini Enduro at FoD

Jambalaya we will make sure the transition times are ok for all cats

Not sure about no practice. Riding some of the bit in the dark with out looking first could be a bit of a risk especially for the fun cat.

Lummox that’s what we thought too that’s why we are going to start earlier 🙂 plus we are looking to put more elevation in the race this year so more transition time would be helpful.
