I was just thinking of Sick this morning, well my Sick Ti gnarcissist. I was planning on selling a couple of months ago, I didn’t and its still my bike of choice / fav to ride.

Shame the Sick boys turned our to be cockwobblers because they made a really good bike.

One place I have been to that I would love to go back is Pila.
It’s a 2 hours drive from Tignes so maybe a day trip or a couple of days.
We did a day trip when staying in Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

No need to go near the building work’s.
Carry on through the car park with the building works on your lhs.
Just before the marquee there is a standpipe with a double tap, comes up on your rhs
If you can smell stinky portaloo toilets you are on track, then carry on round the tarmac and pick up thesdw straight ahead

Has BC got involved in enduro yet?

No and since they pulled out it has gone from strength to strength:
    -Broke 10,000 racers mark for the first time in 2018 (2018 74 Races, 2017 71 Races, 2016 88 Races)
-Best male to female ratio since the start of enduro
-Set of guidelines for new organisers
-All the organisers working together (BEMBA).
-A proper national series and nation champs.

Mates races are cool too, this was one of the last ones I organised before becoming a proper event organiser.

Edit: I forgot about the KV Mega, that was the last mates race. That was fun :)

And for reference if anyone in the south wants to get their kids racing for free/in exchange for marshalling let me know. Unlike PMBA you race in age groups with your peers.

If he’s as good as you say then the podium prizes are often (RRP) more than cost of entering.

Source: Southern and Pedalhounds enduro, my better half came 3rd in fun women once, I’ve never got close.

    For Southern’s we work on:
    1st £60-70 (RRP)
    2nd £40-50 (RRP)
    3rd £20-30 (RRP)

and we have 15 categories. (6 of them being ladies cats)

wrightyson did you miss my post about racing for Free? I’m sure PMBA would offer something similar to me if you are up north.

OP your son can race for free! Well at least at any Southen Enduro race or South West Enduro Race. Lots of other organiser offer the same.

All you got to do is Marshal in exchange for his entry. Thought?

I get the impression Lee was taken for a ride as much as anyone, if not more.

Well now you can race your e-bike around an MX track:

This weekend’s MXGP of the Netherlands has now hosted a press conference in front of MXGP’s collection of international and national media to announce the new e-bicycles race taking place on the 1,550 meters long Imola MXGP circuit following Saturday’s MXGP Qualifying the 17thof August.

To be fair to Lee if he is going out on his own he has a sh*t ton of lessons learnt from working with Sick.

I’m surprised this thread has gone on so long and no one has mention unrestricted Ebikes and racing. And lots of races not having rules against it or actively turning a blind eye.

Marshals and medics did a great job, it was super dry and loose out there.

Cheers to everyone that came 900 racers was a real challenge. And 100 ladies between the 2 races is incredible.

Practice stage 1,2&3 in the morning before the mash up, you can d them in under an hour.

    No seeding on Saturday now?

    No 2 reasons:
    1. Main reason not enough day light for 600 riders.
    2. None of the other BNES rounds have seeding.

they’re doing a bit of housekeeping on old insta posts now too and removing any negative comments.

Personally I would spend the time reply to the backlog of emails but what do I know.

As above its a lot of money. Looking at the company that run it they are very road orientated not sure they teamed up with someone that understands the market or not but they messed the mark. In my opinion was to big for year one, start smaller and build on your success.

I went for the Öhlins STX22 Air, the frame has a linier suspension curve.

This is a mad thread. Just keeps on coming back!

With the 2 week social media and email blackout I just hope that Sick haven’t gone and people get the frames they bought and their warrantee claims sorted.

Did you spec your own geometry?

Yes on a spreadsheet, its loosely based around a Large Shan no.5, tad longer, tad slacker and 5mm shorter chain stay.

How much did it run to for the frame

The frame was £470, plus shock which I bought in the UK and I got it spread by my mate in the UK too. I think £470 is the price painted with no shock.

    Hi Tom

I have just had one built, first ride yesterday.
To soon to talk about longevity but happy with the build quality for the price.

I also fount the ordering process straight forward and think about getting a HT made too.

    Some pic here: https://www.strava.com/activities/2330301250

As part of the order you can get Headset, rear axle, chain guide etc.. or not its up to you.

How do these events compare to something like a Gorrick XC or Big Dog course? Vaguely interested, but concerned I might be massively out of my depth.

Are full face helmets and pads compulsory?

At the grass roots level is simular technically to a Big Dog/gorrick

If you want to give one a go the Southern Enduro in Pippingford is probably one of the easiest rounds.

I don’t think there is a race in the UK where FF helmets and Pads are compulsory (there are some in Europe)

Until the personnel of the hurtwood committee change, there will be no change. As a former Hurtwood trails trail builder, it was like banging my head against a wall for a few years with them, gave up and walked away with the rest of the group.

As I said sticking your head in the sand while rider numbers increase year on year is currently working well for them.

Anyway I tryed, it’s a real shame the AONB guys were very forward thinking.

Can anyone enlighten me on how the BNES series points system works? 🙂

    “BNES Series points and Champions
By working together, the BEMBA organisers have been able to create series points with overall series rankings. At the end of the season, National Enduro Series Champions will be crowned.

To gain points for the overall title, racers must compete in a minimum of four of the first five rounds and the final round. They’re able to drop their worst result from the first five but can’t drop the final round points. Riders can get an overall series ranking from any of the rounds.”

And I’m almost certain we are using the BC points like the BDS.
