So, out of curiosity, is this event claiming to be the British Champs, and if yes, who decided this was the Champs anyway ? There is no governing body, nobody to award the right to run the champs are such, no official standards to which the Champs event has to comply. Theoretically, I could order some medals, print up some posters, and run an event called the British Enduro Champs. Not going to, well not this year anyway, although there is no reason why not to, just wondering if there is an formal process or does somebody just declare themselves ?

Remember a few years ago when about 10 events were calling themselves the World 24 Hour MTB champs, one couldn’t spit without hitting a 24hr world champion.

In fact sod it – next weekend – British Enduro Champs at Innerleithen. I have entered. Entries are now closed. Results next week…

UKGE Put the question to the panel of enduro race organisers. No one objected.

In my opinion as a race organiser and a racer, UKGE are best place to organise the Endruo Champs in 2015.

Hels do you work for BC?

I really hope this happens. I don’t think price is the issue, UKGE just need to tell more people about this event not everyone on FB

Mc the buget system is a pain in the arse for the organiser.
Edit: sorry I’m talking about our old system

    Everyone should use it.

With my racer hat on I agree! It was great to uses it at the lee quarry/cock hill PMBA enduro.
I Have not done a UKGE this year yet but I’m doing the UKGE champs in 3 weeks and look forward to seeing the new timing in action.

There are now 2 timing companies doing ‘most’ of the races in the UK now. This was not the case 2 years ago. Both are very good and going forward should not have any issues.
UKGE, Mini enduro’s & WGES all the one.
SES, QECP, PMBA, WES,Enduro1, Redkite, Tweedlove/EWS use the other.

    Sorry for all the acronyms.

except for the QECP ones, always slick there!

Sorry, but having organised and controlled budgets for both DH and Enduro events I call BS.

Timing 3x the price of a DH event ? Who does your timing ? Swarovski ?

Sorry Hels but this is what it costs if you want to provide accurate and reliable timing.

Every area/race is different but for us:
DH race timing would cost £600 for a single day and single track.
Enduro race timing would cost around £2000 for single day and 4 stages.

In the past we have done the timing of our enduro’s for much cheaper.
£0 in fact. But the homemade system was not slick, waiting for results at the end etc…

The new timing system costs around £10 a rider, we put the price up by £5. Now running at £40 per one day race (4 Stages).

People are happy to pay a extra £5 for a better service. One of the main positive feedbacks we got from our last race was the timing system was great.

    This:

Timing Around 3x or 4x more than DH event
Online entry Same as DH event
Insurance Bit more than DH event
Medics Around 2x or 3x more than DH event depending on length and location of track
Course tape and signage Around 3x more than DH event
Days of work to plan and prepare Around 3x more than DH event
    Catering Same as DH event
Car parking Same as DH event
FC permits and rider charge Depends on how may land owners there are but I could be alot
Radio comms Around 2x or 3x more than DH event depending on length and location of track
Marshals Around 2x or 3x more than DH event depending on length and location of track

Also add to the list zero support from the governing body.

Bird Zero.3 will come in just under £1k and still a great spec for the money if more at the budget end of their offerings. Or for not much more you can have a cracking set up.

Zeros tick the 650b & aggressive boxes. +1

I’ve got a set of RS Sektor (air) that I was about to stick in the for sale section – they’re 2012 models, 1&1/8″ steerer and 20mm maxle. Currently set at 130mm but you can remove the spacers if you want them longer. If you’re interested let me know, I can take some pics and measure the steerer when I’m home later.
    yes interested email in profile.

At the moment, there are 2 descents, one which is kind of bike-parky that will take a good rider 2 minutes.

The other is a bit more enduro-like, steep, rooty and slithery in the wet, but is only about 1 minutes worth.

There is another one marked out, ie trees sprayed a bit, no idea how long this would be as it’s only a rough plan at present, but I can’t see it being any longer than 2 minutes.

3 stages, ridden twice, one transition to the top? Sounds fun

As Northwind says it can be hard to tell. QECP Enduro sold out in 90 mins where I believe the “DH” event last weekend still had places available to the last minute. All of it is organised on the same hill and (@scottfitz can confirm) is quite similar really.
Yep same hill, even same run/stage/track.

Was a great event. Really well organised, thanks to Kev, mike, medics and all the marshals!!

Got 3rd in hardtail’s, didn’t know there was a Hardtail podium until the prize giving. Good thing we stayed 😉

It was tongue in cheek comment.
Seriously though If there’s alot of you camping on Bacup park and it’s properly organised it will be ok. Just lock everything up. Seriously everything.
If you are the only ones there then maybe look locally. I live here and is rather camp up at the quarry than in the park.
    Cheers that’s good advise.

Gossa, all of the mountain bike range will be 27+? Does that mean you are dropping the fatbike?

Yes things change but not always for the better. I guess time will tell and prove me wrong.

Btw isn’t really a modern version of the blender.

Again, why wish them to fail?

ok fail was to harsh. I just annoying when a company that used to have a good well thought out range resorts to gimmicks like this.

Many it’s not a gimmick and I’m just a moron. That is a distinct possibility!!

    scottfitz

but them not doing what you want isn’t a reason to wish them to fail, surely?

It just means what they do isn’t for you.
Who is their range for then, I am a potential charge customer!
