At the China Olympics, the BBC sent more reporters and pundits than GB sent athletes.

Mackem – it's not a big deal until your frame cracks.

All this talk of jet washed this, and worn out that has clouded a big issue.

A used bike will not have a manufacturers warranty. This is worth more than a service or a chain. The Hub are a reputable lot so will no doubt guarantee the bike for a short while after purchase. Not the full period that a real warranty will.

They are a good price, but go into it with your eyes open.

Was it worth bringing this thread back from the dead for a crap joke? :|

    Those what?

Is it the widget that replaces the front mech to run one ring? If so what are they called?

I saw one in What Mountain Bike an inferior publication this week and I'd have a go for a tenner.

EBay is good for getting rid of Ski gear IME. Good kit makes reasonable money.

Also, it sounds like I have similarly mishapen feet to you. I ended up with Head boots after advice as they were the widest in my price range. Much better.

A second hand £550 bike could be had for around £300. Take off your excess and no claims etc, and there can't be much in it.

And expect next years premium to be much higher at renewal, even accounting for the NCD. This will be the same when you ask for quotes from other insurers with a claim on your record.

    That's why not.

    You decide.

    Really?

Is a Heckler not an expensive single pivot frame? Made in the Far East? By someone who thinks One man and his Dog is a cookery programme?

It will remain a bit crap until faster hamsters can be sourced for the servers.

5's are top notch climbers, but they won't do it for you. I run 150 Talas on the front, and I do like winkling the front down to 130mm for the really steep stuff.

Try one, and don't judge it until you've tried it.

I must confess I swallowed tons line last week about being rung up and abused. I didn't notice the follow-up thread apologising for his mistake, but there you go.

Ton seems to be waving his righteous anger around a bit too much recently, and with little justification it seems. There's always two sides I suppose.

Except with Ti_Pin_man; he was just an idiot.

I'm not sure as to his regiment or if it applies. He was a chaplain, Rev. TJ Stretch.

My first real bike, an Orange Clockwork. Sold to a pal and bought back about 5 years later.

Merlin Works 4.0. Sold on here and then bought back when he caught the Jones bug.

Still waiting for my old Orange Vit T to come back to me. The biggest regret of my biking career was selling that.

I have been and I echo the 'prescence' of the place.

I also went to Bergen-Belsen, having family history there. Not with inmates, my great-uncle was one of the first dozen men in there to liberate the camp. He told me eyewatering stories when I was younger; but I didn't appreciate the impact of what he told me until I visited.

There have been a few threads on here with folks doing just that on the classifieds.

Shame on you is my first thought. Any pleas in mitigation?

And paying the fees is the least you can do for wasting everyones time.

I think it is a brilliant story. The rozzers need to be seen to investigate. Self outed stroppy old queen refuses to co-operate and won't say who, when or if it actually happened. Brilliant.

jenga – where was this? With you saying Lancs and Sustrans has me concerned that it may be local.

    I'm in Rossendale/Irwell Vale BTW

    In the loft there is.

Early 90's Spesh Metal Matrix frame.
    1993 Marin Team Ti (snapped)
1992 Ritchey P22 (Bent – hit by car)
    1994(?) Orange Dynamo Roadie
1995 Marin Quake full sus. (Just Rubbish)

I will need to have a sort out when I move.

RRR – save your questions; I think Jamies slunk off to rethink his launch strategy and re-pigeon hole the new frame.

Nino's in Rawtenstall is worth avoiding. Huge wait for food and if someone more important comes in, they may ask you to leave.

Nino's takeaway Pizza is recommended, though. The Dining Room in Rawtensatll is good, and I'll second Ramsons.

King £80-odd at Winstanleys. Not a great deal more than Hope, and so much better.

If your budget won't stretch that far Hope are good, but they will still need new bearings every 6 months or so.

Try a strip and grease first.

Quite few places (even Orange) reduced the Vit-T. I saw them go for around £2800. so stock advertised at full wallop looks pricey. Great spec though.

As for the name aspect, the sticker on the Seat tube that says Lynskey is a bit more familiar

Bike shop (wheelspin?) in Huddersfield had on of each; 17" and 19" not long ago.
