Agree with johnny63, speak to the mason guys but I’m 5’8 and found the 54 a little too big for me so sold it. Would buy another (albeit a 52) in a flash

@Roverpig that’s what I was hoping, albeit using my wahoo bolt rather than my phone.

Kinesis say long drop / 57mm. Depending on your budget TRP RG957’s are very good but they’re around £100.

Passed my mod1 today and mod2 booked for mid November. Looking to buy my first bike over winter when I can hopefully get a bargain. Been riding a hornet which I really like but am looking at a duke690 or early street triple as my first bike.
    Any other suggestions of opinions?

I’m torn between the grail al or going all out and getting a bokeh. Gotta admit the canyon and it’s price is winning me over. Shame about the delivery dates or think I would’ve ordered by now.

Thanks, glad you’re enjoying it. I’m in the market for a gravel type bike that is also good on the road. Looks like the Alu canyon is right up there. Was also looking at a diverge

How are you finding the grail? Interested in an aluminium one but delivery times are estimated at March 2019 now!

I did my CBT around 10 years ago but due to finances / work never went any further or bought bike. I did my CBT and theory test 2 weeks ago. I have my Mod 1 test on the 23rd. Having done the CBT and a morning riding I can’t wait to get a bike, Currently have my sights set on a KTM Duke 390.

I’d say turbo over rollers if you wanted specific training. I have a kickr and actually enjoy riding the turbo now. The reconditioned ones are direct from Wahoo.

Great find. I’d report it as found property to local plod, provide your contact details and ask them to put it on records as retained by finder. (I’m sure they can still do that). They usually mark things up for destruction after a set time so it would just end up getting binned if not collected by anyone. Saves it going missing from the nick / getting destroyed and you retain possession of it. Its a win win I reckon

Well, the boy loved it. Only one mishap on the red route where his pedal hit a stump and he went over the bars but all good. Had a look at the dirt jumps and downhill as well.
    Thanks for the recommendations

He’s been watching old videos of the downhill stuff at Pines so thats the plan for the morning after McD’s breakfast. A proper boys day out.

Thanks, have done a fair bit of googling and looked at reviews. Too much to choose from, but I quite fancy an orange clockwork and can get one for a grand, (over my initial budget though). Any thoughts on the clockwork and 29er (100mm travel) or 27.5 (120mm) travel)?
I know spec isn’t as good as others but always been a fan of Orange bikes?
    Decisions, Decisions!!

I have one, had it about 7 or 8 years, one the best family cars I’ve had. 2004 model and bought used from a Vw dealer with 70k on it. Practical when out as a family although not much luggage room when all seats in use. Fits loads of bikes and kit in when needed. We used to do Cornwall every year in ours with a roof box on and got pretty good mpg from it. For us with 5 kids it’s fab (although we also now have a caravelle for the long holiday trips)
Never really serviced it and only problem weve had was clutch / dual mass flywheel. Cost around £900 to sort around 2yrs ago, probably more than car was worth.

We stayed here a few years back, great place, friendly owners who were experienced and knowledgeable about routes etc. As and when I go back it would be the top of my list.

We go on the 4th of June, I’m planning on a compact and a 28. Hopefully that should see me up most things.

Last Tuesday saw my second time trial. 7.7 miles on a flat course. Looked ok or so I thought, bloody freezing, rain, hail and the last 2 miles into the head wind from hell!
Managed to hit over 33mph at one point with the wind behind me. Finished in 19.59 with an average of 23.3mph 16th out of 35.
    Pretty happy with that.

Did my first 10 a month ago. Felt great for the first 7 miles then turned into an awful head wind. Finished in a 26:02. Got another local 10 on Tuesday and have also signed up for a ride on the a63 in a few weeks.
Just need to practice the distance more and do more races.

I tend to read more on here than I post (unless I’m selling something). Posts like this remind me why the forum is so great. I’ve been having major issues for months and after reading the experiences and honesty of many on here I will be getting booked in for a chat with my GP next week to see what’s the best course of action for me.
I always thought I didn’t need help and that tablets won’t do anything for me, time to man up and make that phone call.
    Thanks all.

The 6800 bolts appear to be pressed through the body of the brake. They feel and look loose / removable and that you could get them out, I couldn’t see a reason it wouldn’t come out however I couldn’t get it to budge. I spoke to my LBS and they said they weren’t removable. I didn’t buy the new brake from them so they had to reason to tell me that if it wasn’t correct.

FWIW, I bought a pair of ultegra 6800 brakes from eBay a while back. Didn’t check them and when it came to building up my new frame I’d been sold 2 rears. The bolt was not removable and I ended up buying a new front.

What forester says. Get the polar strap it’s miles better. My garmin strap even with a new battery would spike upto 230bpm’s when I would expect to be around 140. Swapped to the polar strap with the garmin clip in transmitter bit and had no issues at all.

Any idea how far back you can claim or that people have been successful with? I had an initial loan when I was 18 then got a further loan to pay the first one and buy a new car both had PPI as far as I know. This was probably in 1995 ish. I know who they were with but have no paperwork anymore

Direct from Santa cruz? They show the new ones on the web site Santacruzbikes.co.uk but state
“This is the decal set for the most recent model, for older models place call us on 01423 780 088 to for availability.”

    I got a set a yr or 2 ago.
