If its just one of the three lugs thats broken off, just get the area built up with enough weld so you can drill and retap the hole, get whoever does it to build a fair bit of “meat” around where the new hole will be then file down the shape just to tidy up, reface and chase thread. I had this done a couple of years ago and its still going strong.

Lycra is just a brand name anyway is it not, Spandex is the real term, or is that not used anymore as it is well associated with 70’s glam rock and “Lycra” is the prefered name for the Spandex wearing XC jey boys,

Ahem, Babycham you say, on a camping trip many moons ago up the west coast somewhere can’t remember where exactly, anyway after camp and bikes were set up we nipped down to the village shop (in car) for some supplies, and low and behold they have a promotion on, buy the evening paper and get a 6 pack of babycham free, he only had 45 papers left as he had sold 5 to the locals already, so we purchased them all at 32p at the time IIRC, so 270 bottles of babycham later…….. £14.40 for 270 bottles, good deal we thought.
Shop keeper was not impressed so we left him 44 papers.

Anyone seen the new Salomon BBR, hideous but very good apparently.
Someone said its like which tyres, more like which bike, Nukeproof Mega being your Salomon Enduro and some super lightweight XC whippet machine being your Volkl race tigers, which are awesome by the way if it’s steep and hard packed.

You are kidding on price? I bought an offroad shock for my KTM race bike last year cost me over a grand.
I don’t get your distrubution/warranty comment either, they would be imported through mountain bike component recognised importer and distrubuted to bike shops anyway so any warranty claims………… you get where i’m going with this?

Anyone know why Ohlins market them through Cane Creek? Why did they not just jump into the mountain bike market on their own, with their reputation in the motorcycle and car industries i wouldn’t have thought they would have needed to bother going through a reputable push bike company.

Lots, anything from KTM enduro range, yamaha YZ, Suzuki DRZ, RMX, RMZ, plenty hondas fit the bill.
I race a KTM in the scottish enduro series but when out with mates for a blast about i also have 98 XR 400 which gets taken out all the time, you cant go wrong with an old XR 400, well capable and you can pick a good one for decent cash.

it’s a pity they never went that little bit extra and had concentric chain stays and the Nicolai “COR” iirc drop out system like they have on the Nucleon AM/TFR doing away with the chain tensioner.
Still looks the dogs though and will be a lot cheaper than the same bike with GBOXX, I hope?

Oil and gas here, subsea construction, busy as fek at the moment and has been for the last 18-24 months, bit of a slack period before that when the barrel price dropped, North sea is up and down more often than a brides nighty, normally end up overseas, Africa, South America, Gulf when it slacks off a bit in the UK sector but now cant get away from the North Sea, bu99er!

If the boys misbehaved in PE at my secondary school the teacher (mr Carnie) would make you go and change into one of various left behind girls little blue pleated skirts and a sleavless tee shirt that was way to small, and then spend the rest of the time playing footie out side the maths and english departments, not good for a 15/16 year olds ego. Extremley funny if it was someone else.

V2’s on both bikes, can’t fault them at all, the fact you can buy all the components as spares wins the day for me, also splashed out on vented discs for the DH bike for the alps trips, probably overkill and fookin expensive but they look the dogs. Only other hope product used in the last year is their Boxxer one piece top crown stem which is also lovely.

O and the tech lever adjusment.

Was in Norway last week, Bergen to be precise, 0.4L of local Noggie piss £8.50 and it is vile, it’s called Hansa so if you are ever in Bergen best avoided. Then went to a club later and they were skinning you £10.50 for a bottle of Corona, still didn’t stop us getting pissed up though.

Where to ride such a beast ??

On a mountain in Scotlandshire maybe.

Got my frame a few weeks ago and built up with stuff from DH rig and a Hammerschmidt, reverb etc, also only had Fox 40’s in the garage so put them on till I decide which fork I want, but it’s so good with the 40’s shimmed down to 180 I may just leave em on as it looks the dogs with 40’s on it, really nice buil quality and Canyon were a delight to deal with.

I have the knee/shin VPD pads and the elbow VPD pads and they are the best pads I have had by a country mile and comfortable to wear on long rides.

I once heard something about marmite and Vit b working, anyone tried them ?.

I normaly take vit B1 at the start of the midge season and it works for me, doesn’t stop them totally but they are less of a nuisance, forgot this year though and only started them a couple of days ago. you need to start them a couple of weeks before you go to midge area though, and apparently vit B1 gives you more energy!
If anyone is planning a trip to Aviemore/Cairngorms and camping/biking in the area, camp at Rothiemurcas rather than Glenmore as Rothiemurcas has Midge eradicators/machines which keeps them at a minimum means you can sit out dawn till dusk and be relativly midge free.

Well I can confirm Smidge is s***e, I live not far from Strathdon and the little b******s have been out in force this last week, ditched the “Smidge that Midge” and went back to the 50% deet jungle formula even that does not keep some of the harder b******s away, 3 hour jaunt up my local hills and came back covered!
