I tend to choose the jobs i do myself, after doing a little personal risk assessment..

its just money at the end of the day…

    compared to life.

my cousins husband is 29 and currently fighting for his life… he didnt ask for it or do anything stupid to get there…

    makes you wonder about risks.

tinas – i always thought you were an engineer..?

anyways as has been said please dont use a ‘3D printed part’ for what you describe..

Whether you use depose or frittage it will break if your bodge broke.

Anyway to describe it – i have no idea what you are talking about in boat terms but if you can maybe do a sketch of what you want you can ‘design’ a part that is machinable? Even if its split, if its alu then it should hold better for your use..

Water softners should only be used for appliances, such as heating boilers and washing machines. Drinking and general water should bypass them as it makes the water taste foul.

    if you say so…

    +1 to what doris said..

if you do it then make the most of it and dont spend the time comparing to the uk..and whinging. it’ll make your integration more difficult.

From my experience evening classes are good, but some people require to be in the country and ‘immersed’ in the language for it to work.

I came to switzerland (french part) with 1yr of french evening classes, but i couldnt speak or write for jack.. i’d quit my job in london and enrolled myself in a 3month 25h/week course.

That did the trick and i then got a job 2 months later..

If she has transferable skills she’ll get a job easily – with proper english and up and coming german she should be an interesting catch for german companies..

edit: What i wouldnt do however, is to stay around and chat to english speaking people in the beginning.. good to have new friends etc, but not good to hold onto the language. if her head works in any way similar to mine (crap with languages) then she’ll need to free up space to take on the german.. and dont just sit around watching english tv..

edit again..: my gf at the time, now wife, didnt really give me an enormous advantage tbh.. the 1st 2 months i couldnt communicate in french..so we spoke in english. but as soon as it’d clicked we spoke in french..

    very nice stoner..

would be interested in his ‘design’ for the shelves – with the oak i used rabbet joins and conventional joins with glue.. still going strong after a years hard use..

but with mdf im not so sure.. but i like the invisible joins on your bookcase/shelving..

would you mind asking him or if you know letting me in on the knowledge?

Nescafe is not real coffee! Jesus, you bang on about which bottom bracket makes you go faster etc then think freeze dried liquid is the same as ground coffee beans brewed up in different ways.

Man I hate how susceptible people are to advertising.

sorry but are you confusing nescafe Dolce Gusto with Nespresso?

The Nespresso brewing units function with real coffee grounds..

dont know where you got your info from rollingD, but its false..

    I don’t drive over 75mph generally…

I do ride a motorbike over that though. Like I said, for the road, the conditions, the traffic, I thought his speed was reasonable.

Ask yourself this, if the bike is a 1300cc Japanese bike with 150+BHP and a top speed of close to 180mph, do you think the rider really bought it to do 70mph everywhere ? Simple answer, bikers buy big fast bikes to do big fast speeds. That speed was IMO well within ‘cruising’ speed for an experienced biker on a big Japanese sports tourer.

weeksy… uuuhm so? My car says it does 160mph.. Did i buy it to do 70mph everywhere? Well the law states various speeds on the roads for a reason..

this video shows a fair hint as to why excessive speed is dangerous..

used SW, SE, autocad, Unigraphics NX, Catia and now on Creo.

It all works but for quickness of use and easy learning, i have found SW to be the quickest.

Unigraphics NX the most powerful – any shape was possible it never fell over..

    Loving the remarks so far!

Swiss german side is more ‘regulated’ but sounds like you met some strange folk ‘rickmeister’ it happens..even in the uk.

This site is quite good: http://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/destinations/holiday-destinations-in-switzerland.html

As you have young children im guessing activities etc are a must – not sure if you can do via ferrata with so young but would be good if you can.
Canoeing – i have no idea personally but here: http://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/interests/adventure-sports-summer/riverrafting-and-canoeing.html seems to suggest places.

We are near to Lausanne, but in the country really. I like the city but also the surrounding area is nice with several attractions..

Camp sites are pretty common – though there is no official body like in the uk that groups them together.

On and On – you’ve been in Geneva 5 months and you find it dull? What have you been doing?

Moved to Switzerland in 2007…wife is swiss. We now have a son and are v happy.

We go back to Scotland from time to time but dont get any pangs of ‘oh god i miss the uk’.

However, i wouldnt move just because you have 1 month of rain.. or work is going through a bad patch.. grass green etc.. all been said before.. if you want to go and experience somewhere different then go!
