not so easy here in switzerland.. its not like the uk.

business is business and they dont like selling things they use, there is no discussion and maybe thats difficult for us brits to get used to..

i’ve tried two car upholsterers (thers only 3 or 4 that i can find) and both refused..

That is why i am after Trim-fix – widely used in van conversions…

    big yin:

so sorry for your news, must admit im sitting here tearful at my desk.

we are in a different but similar situation – cant seem to have another child. i know its nothing like what youre going through but what i have found very important is that it has made our couple very very strong.

be there for one another, and cry together.

you will be able to ‘get over this’ you wont forget but you will move on.

    courage et tout de bon.

May as well chip in as this thread has a few owners. I’m in the UK and looking at T5s but will be moving to Geneva for two years as of Feb 2017. Not sure to buy in the UK and drive a RHD abroad or buy a LHD in Europe – or any other combination. Are prices still level in Europe ?
( yes I can look up on abay but local knowledge is appreciated )

prices are faily high… try autoscout24.ch for a tester..

You can quite easily do one for 15k. 10k for van, off the shelf conversion kit for less than 5k

seriously 10k for the van? What mileage do you get on that? here in switzerland they keep their value terribly… 10k gbp would get one from 2005 with 150000km at least..

Alpin: can you send me some more info (email in profile i think – lemme know if not..)?

we are in the middle of considering all of this after 2wks in scotland and we loved it..

looking to buy a panel van and convert – if the swiss laws allow me – how did you get averything passed in germany? here the cost of a base van is almost tear inducing so i’d have to get it right!

    ^^ twisty’s option sounds good.

seems silly to bodge something for those frankly strangely placed sockets..

is there some reason you are avoiding the only electro’s opinion?? ie move the sockets?

    easy job..

for an mtb forum, you are incredible… from not knowing the term pretzled, to soft-tail..

But seriously the comment about lycra?! They are not doing a couple of loops of the forest and then popping in for tea & cake..

And as for the course being easy, wow i take my hat off to the keyboard warriors..try one loop at that speed. love the comments about mincing down the logs..

I don’t want to take heavy-duty drugs and am open to alternative solutions, but after 18 years of trying things, I’ve become fed up!

totally with you on that. i have had them for 20yrs (and a bit, god im getting old).

i have a backup of relpax with me at all times, triptan. that is sure to work for me, but i get a follow up migraine the day after or so if i take them..

if you reacted well to the accu, try again with someone else – where are you based? i am in lausanne, and tried 3 before i found one that worked for me.

its not worth not trying, we’re here once, and it goes fast.. dont want to be in pain..

    i have tried:
    teeth
    neck and back ‘stress’
    general stress
    physio in back, neck, mouth
    coloured glasses,
    feverfew
lipisgec (mentioned above, i forget the spelling)
neuro (he told me, you have migraines, take pills.)
    hypnotherapy
diets – no lactose, no red wine, no choc

OP – i get migraines aswell so i can understand your desire to get rid of them/be able to control them

But, i have never tried so many drugs/medics! If i were you i would try really taking a step back and looking at all the things mentioend above – diet stress etc.

I am now using accupuncture for mine, and its holding them pretty steady – only had 3 in 2wks holiday. Normally 2-3 a week..

most of the time its actually better than 3/ 2 week period.

give it a shot – cant be worse than migraines..

Have you got kids? Have you tried to meet someone to discuss whatever might be important for more than 3 minutes with a 2 year old on the side?

yes, and yes. it is normal, people are used to it… its called life.

dont condition children to watching the box early on – you will regret it.

of course its not easy, but neither is being a parent..

i wouldnt bother with x-ray or mri. mri seems to be the only way to see the injuries, as mentioned… but i was told twice that nothing was wrong it was in my head and then they went in and trimmed it back.

the problem with trimming it is that they cannot do this without leaving a sharp edge which can then catch when you move the joint.. and then tear..

that is why i sugegsted the exercises to take the strain off the joint. Both my knees have slight tears in them now, but im strong enough for this to no longer be a bother.

if it is cartilage damage, it wont unfortunately fix itself. I have had this 4 times in my knees (twice each). Each time the meniscus was trimmed back but in the last op they used staples to hold it together as it would then still do its job and removing it wouldnt help me in the long run..

what helped me was to build up my legs to take the strain off the knee..

i have a problem you dont have as yours seems to have been a result of a one time incident.. i had my leg straightened to realign things…massive difference.

stick to physio and workouts to build up muscle is what i’d do.

i’d perso avoid going down the route of arthroscopy if i could.

    good luck

I’m not buying the what do you expect for the money comments.
You can buy a complete bike for the price of a London road frame. The seat post would be in a hole of the correct size.

That’s exactly my point, a frame retailing around £200 will have been made at a far lower cost. That lower cost will mean lower tolerances and, a lower margin product.

thats crap – you’ve totally missed the point of that post buckster… if a 200gbp whole bike can have the frame seatpost correct why the f can planet X not get it right on a frame costing 200gbp?

totally inacceptable. OP demand a seatpost to fit (get them to send a few if needs be) at their cost.

joe – did you read the article?

singletrack has the right to write journalism..its a little bit their job..

i live in switzerland, so we are not in the eu… and i tell you its a pain in the arse for alot of things.. silly little things, but also work wise it aint so great..!

oh and prissiness re: maxxis girls? really? you find that kind of thing ok? i applaud stw’s approach to that..

either drill the joists like DrP suggests (hole saw for example) or compromise with the walk in shower? yes a step in shower is less cool, but a step into the room isnt great and is more costly.. you’ll go into the room v frequently, into the shower less so (if you think about it…) i know the shower will be used alot too but a bathroom is more than just a shower..

I have similar issues with our lawn – here in switzerland we’ve had a very wet winter and spring… june is proving to be very undecided with regards to sun/rainfall…

This has drawn our attention to our lawn, and the clay soil.. we may have to install some sort of drainage – but how to get the necessary fall? can we link it in the our developments drain? as we have a pretty flat plot and is surrounded by the develpments roads..
