its to go through the floor under the seat on the T6 for the heating duct to come through. The thing is there is already a hole there from origin about 40 i’d say so was hoping to just enlarge this (its just for cables, but not used). not sure if a hole saw would be ideal as centering would be tricky..

sorry, so to answer the question not very accurate!

OP – how are you venting? in the soffits are you putting vents? Do you have other vents?

i’d also love to put in sliding door/doors..but worried about weather-proofing/waterproofness if i make it myself..

OP – did you make yourself the frame for these doors that you received? or was it included?

thanks DD! well you seem to know your onions! i need to figure out the best way to have ventilation for my shed – i was guessing to copy a little bit my house and put some in the roof – cant remember the technical terms.. do i need vents low down so that this circulates?

whilst there is an expert here, can i be cheeky and ask a question regarding the rainscreen?

I am in the middle of planning a shed for ours and like alot the modern larch clad buildings..was going to copy that and a bit of the design of the OP (as in flat roof, with pent). I was going to use horizontal cladding with a space in between each profile (with furring strips), but im now confused with regards to the rainscreen “system”.. I thought it’d be open at the top and bottom, hence allow airflow.. is this ok?

if not what do i need to do?!

want this as a finish: http://www.naturhousecz.de/sysrefer/102/6/164/domek-na-naradi-s-plochou-strechou-naturhouse-s5-wuppertal/

surfer: sorry nothing useful to say…but i hate you! kidding, well jealous of your space..

i wish i had the space to do sth like this.. I will be making us a shed, but on a much smaller scale. How are you finishing it?

whats your roof made from? Epdm?

    why does it annoy you?

i get in to the office at 6am, shower and eat cereal and start 6.30. No-one else is around.

i dont get paid to do this?

i brush my teeth and have a tea afterwards..

muggo – you’d have to be in early..

dezb – i take mine in with me.. sorry to disappoint

will try a solar fan.. see if that makes a difference.

ok i’ll have to look into increasing the airflow then. Not sure how to improve on this though! i have essentially big vents at the bottom and big ones at the top.. should allow air to circulate?

or do i need to try a fan? would have to be solar as no electricty to the carport..

Ah ok..non nô i thought of making spacer to lift the floor from the blocks..

Well the floor itself is dry, no rain can get in really except driving rain and even that is doubtful really. The idea of a floating floor was to be able to put some insulation in and seal it more like a shed..?

pardon?! imagine headset spacers, disc if you like… lying flat.. you’d have to go a long way to crush those…

this is a car port that is shared with the neighbours, not linked to any house atall.. its standalone.

no windows, but all around at floor level there is a 5cm gap and above the sliding door there are two huge holes.. i dont think ventilation is the problem?

    scotia

would it be a problem to have a floating floor then?

If the spacers are those big plastic pipes then they wont be affected by any moisture.. but what would happen to the wooden floor? If i put a membrane down first would this help?

well the bikes and other things in there are on the whole dry, but just recently with the more colder weather i have noticed the bike grips are damp and the bar tape on the roadie has some mould..

We do have a sliding door at the front and the sides are panelled off so its like a little shed if you will.

There is a gap of about 5cm between the canexel wall and the block floor so this is where the water would get in, but it hasnt rained in weeks here and things are damp – hence the thought of condensation?

ok well i’ll see. i still need to get the official permission from la commune & the neighbours ok with it… then finish the design.. so i’ll be here a while.

meanwhile im researching doors, roof and ventilation…

i was thinking at least the outside as we may need to take it to the boundary – allowed here.. i’d finish inside after..

i might have a problem… i may need to build the shed on the patio and then move it into position… idocy??!

Love the commute! Been doing it for 2yrs now, 200km a week in total so not much in comparison to some here.

I now have a slightly longer route but with next to no traffic which is great – all on cycleways into Lausanne, though i dont get to see Mont Blanc if i do this..

    ah ok, thanks!

anyone have any experience with sizing? i ride a M/L litespeed road frame.. would 56 be the right one for me?

    inspiration[/url]

this is what im going to try to recreate but will take some time – got to get the design done and the commune to sign off on it..

if i do it this way, i can do any old structure with boards, membrane then add on the larch cladding?

    how do people ventilate correctly?

I ride this all year round. Alfine 8 on the back, TRP hylex hydraulic disc brakes, full length mudguards, schwalbe marathons (will change to schwalbe winters when it gets icy)

STP – how do you get on with the winters? im considering getting some for mine, but not sure..will have to check spacing etc.

any pointers for a bodge that’ll give me full mud guards on my litespeed icon? its now my allyear round bike.. but mainly commuter as i dont get much time to do anything else..!

i have a front crud guard Mk2 but the rear doesnt allow 28mm tyres..

ok thanks – and sorry in advance to ask so many questions..!

one last one for now: windows – did you just put in panes of glass and wooden beading? ive done this in an interior door but hadnt thought for the exterior?

As – just a quick question re: roof – i am doing the rounds with regards to what to use like you did when you did your build… How is the polycarbonate holding up? We have no trees in the area so wont have leaves.. but here in summer it does get hot and in the winter we can get snow..

Did you fix your in alu channels? i saw one company that does it like that..

if not how did you join?

    thanks!

thats what i was fearing for the roof…

i’ll see what i can find.

i know AlexSimon – im more than jealous of your shed… the space you have is amazing. i dont have that.. here land is too much money..!

that is great, thanks alot! (and thanks northernmatt)

yeah i was thinking a basic structure like above and then clad it, just wasnt sure with regards to the substrate wall etc..

i’ll have to get along to Hornbach (swiss B&Q etc)..

Roofing options as i see it:

    felt
wood like the sides over felt (see: google)

    or…?

this will be replacing a metal shed and pallet wood store..

Do i need to have the ‘shed’ structure walls, ply, membrane and then the cladding?

i would like to prevent water coming in.. the slatted look is just aethetic for me..

i wasnt going to insulate it, but if we could store the buggy in it i’ll insulate..

one part will be to store wood and this will be left open, but the other part is realy storage of things like lawnmower and bikes and garden tools..

So from the responses, i need to add: Its not going to have power… i dont have that luxury! and its not going to be big enough to work in – i do that downstairs in the house in my room/our cave for wine..

right im going to look into the actual breathability next time..

    no rucksack – panniers.

if i take the jacket off in 5 or 6deg weather im going to not be warm enough in my current set-up.

will have a rethink. armwarmers are definite things to get..

haha aP..not all downhill no, but certainly not uphill. on the return i am in shorts & short sleeved jersey..

all well thanks, fabi is expecting after 4 yrs trying (medical help proved to not be the answer..) so we’ll be 4 in dec..

Welcome to visit aP & london_lady any time..we have a spare room with bed, and cake. and wine.

its not thick, i dont wear the fleece (its the 4 in 1 jacket)…both mini pit-vents are open.

i dont wear it on the ride home..

ok i’ll have a rethink to my outer layer, i was just hoping to not have to carry another jacket aswell..

    thanks for the responses.

i dont really want to slow down, im far from a pro (and never said i was anygood atall) thats for sure, but im not overly pushing it either
