Well i have worn them several times so they should be but they really hurt – i can only imagine what i’ll be like after a day in them.

Living in Switzerland, makes getting to the shops tricky for Ghillies!

bon et voila merci ‘snaps’..tu est vraiment con.

Apart from the fact that this is a bike forum, not an MTB forum..there are a number of people on here who ride on the road..so please refrain from your typical response.

ive just used dvd flick, having been recommended it from here.. it works well to change the avi file into dvd readable stuff. Then use dvd fab5 to burn the dvd..

normally a lbs has a tool that fits it once the steerer is the right length. To do it diy im not sure – getting it straight might be tricky!

Tbh i never used one – just used an fsa headset with a conix..does me fine.

Carbon – not convinced…current bike is an S-works E5 in alu so i’ll see.

a_a when i had my last knee op in London they looked at me and started talking about wheelchairs. I can now walk, run and even cycle lightly.

Never give up. I know it might be corny, but i looked at the late jmc for a bit of inspiration in getting round health issues.

“All my lifes dreams have been kicked into touch and out of reach. Gutted.”

Having knee serious issues (over the past 15 years) i appreciate where you’re coming from (tho i havent had the same problem)

Take it slowly, and try to look at those dreams with a view to making them possible with what you have.

I know thats easy to say, but i have tried it and now live very happily with what i have although with pain smetimes. Its not what i wanted but unfortunately we dont always get what we want (not in anyway getting at you, trying to offer support!).

All the best, and if you need owt, just hollar!

fauxbyfour: “Sorry Scotia, you are typical of those that like to blame your inadequacies on external influences, for example where you live.”

No need to be sorry, just dont talk bull. Do you know me? No, didnt think so.

My inadequecies? Which ones? My drinking is under control, and always was. When in the UK i did notice a very popular trend towards the drinking life. All the posts ring a bell of friends and colleagues, drinking the nights away till they were blootered.

I drank within my limits, and didnt (still dont) binge drink. Here, i appreciate wine and beer, but only when i want to and in moderation. There is no pressure, and certainly no stigma if you dont drink.

Since moving this pressure, and ‘norm’ has been completely left behind, so for me there is a link.

oh and why did you give up the booze? there is no need to go to the extreme. Maybe if you cannot control yourself, i’d start to look inwardly before coming on here and giving your twopence worth..

“I know an organisation in Scotland that did this….minus 17 C one morning. Instant frostburn from the metal handrail if you had no gloves on”

    Really? -17°C in Scotland? Where?!

Tbh, when i worked for an oil company in London, the rules were the same for when off the vessels/rigs as on – as if we could have no LTI’s offshore why the hell couldnt we manage it onshore. It all comes down to a little common sense though imho..
