london is big…want to narrow down where you’ll accept?

12 I’m in the UK, can I buy from the USA (and vice versa)?

    – no. If you are a UK resident (and you have a UK address and card on file with Amazon) you must buy from the UK store. If you are in the US, you must buy from the US store. If you are in ANY other country, you are considered by Amazon to be “rest of the world” and you must order from the US store.

There is a slight grey area as to whether you can switch from .com to .co.uk to buy books. Also, if you buy a Kindle in the UK and move for a long period to (say) Germany, then Amazon may restrict your purchases from the UK store and ask you to switch to the US store – again this is rather grey and new and will develop. Hardware purchases however ARE restricted as above.

ah..not so sure now..it looks like it’ll be reverted to .com after a while..

I think i’ll still try! The worst that can happen is that they change it after a while to .com..

Well i was thnking of buying it then sending it to my brother in Edin..then him sending it to me.

I guess i need to know that this kindle, being of UK destination originally…will have access to the uk book store ok…or will they then pickup that i am in switzerland?!

from what you say CHB it might be ok?

I got the 3G version as I often walk into a book shop at an airport etc, think I like that and can buy and download as I walk out.
Buying exclusively from Amazon is not too bad as they have a huge range but if you live abroad then it’s annoying as you do not access to the UK book market; it’s mainly the US which for me is not the best
I did find that it was also quite to do some monochrome surfing whilst stuck in Amsterdam airport.

Is that right? I have an amazon.co.uk account from when i lived in the UK…and its still active now that i live in Switzerland..
If i buy a kindle from them and get them to ship to me, can i then download uk books or not?

SpokesCycles – Member. He seems OK. I have his “Dinners” book which is meant to be “simple food to make in an evening” and I only make one thing out of it because it’s either “put toast in toaster, pop, apply butter, serve” or a 6 day long kitchen marathon complete with jus de nothing better to do.

All in, Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall is my favourite because his food is balls out ridiculous but in a fun “killed it with my bare hands” kind of way.

seriously? i have two of his books, dinners being one of them. There are tons of recipes in there that dont take long..what are you talking about??

or are you just being typically STW?

seriously for those who say you shouldnt need to convert them…what am i doing wrong then? They are films in AVi format..i dont actually know if there are many versions of avi or not but its beginning to annoy me this thing and i just got it saturday..

is there a certain setting of avi mpg and mpeg-4 that the ps3 can read??

They are ok but not great. I had a Tassimo one which made a nice coffee but if you drink a lot of it the cost of the capsules soon add up. I went back to a Cafetiere after I ran out of the last lot of capsules.

i love stw…not reading the post again…the OP asked about Nespresso machines not Tassimo..

ahwiles: of course – im not complaining, just asking for suggestions from you lot.

I dont actually know if it is this that is causing my migraines, but it is a exploratory test. The doc said there is a mechanical problem in my back that is also not helping.

It seems that it is the Casine protein that i am trying to avoid at the moment not just cows milk.

Easiest thing to do is cook yourself and only eat “proper” food. That way there are no hidden ingredients. It’s made easier by the fact here mum specialises in teaching people with food allergies how to cook and eat healthily.

That is what i do…but still the list of things not to use is scary!

Juiced – really? I didnt know that. I have just yesterday bought some soya to try but it was really so that i could kick off the 21 days..this wknd i will go to the one health shop that i know of and see what they have in the way of others.

Yeah i really dont want to take any pills…..kind of the aim of seeing this doc re: migraines…..really fed up being medic dependant.

Thanks for the tips tho people.

    any more?!

well im actually in switzerland so its a little harder to find things (health shops not so popular as in the uk) but i went to the doctor and he did these tests on me hence the stopping for 3 weeks to see what changes that makes.

i cant have any sort of milk, no animal milk anyway. Soya has been tried and passed the taste test suprisingly.

i’ll need to see if i can survive a winter without fondue!

It seems that we have similar tastes in films…though we have actually seen alot of the suggestions (and they are great too) we tried to find the others but the dvd store here in the small village aint great..

I tried to get shawshank out as my wife hasnt seen it, but they didnt have it..toy story 3 was already rented and they didnt have many other things that grabbed our imagination.

So we did a photobook from our recent holiday in greece instead!

But thanks for the recommendations quand même..will be used in the future.

I don’t see how a stovetop can make a bad coffee by having too hot water.

Believe it or not but coffee is actually quite a tricky subject, and is very sensitive to temperature. Studies have shown that temperatures above 92°C gives the coffee a burnt taste..therefore your just off 99°C is too hot..

    Do you mean Aluminium?
Ah, have you ever wondered about the fantastic mount of energy required to make aluminium? Plastic is probably better.

(Best not to think about this when considering a new bike though, which of course is entirely sustainable, even if you drive 100 miles to ride it in a circle then drive home again…)

    POSTED 6 HOURS AGO #

uuhmm yes thanks Zokes..i work in this field but thanks for the heads up!

I was actually picking up on his mixup of the two systems…pernickerty maybe but as i said i work in this field.

Yes the plastic is possibly better, but Aluminium is a very recyclable material.

this might be sacrilige but the nespressos are actually very good and far far less hassle and mess than a traditional
Sorry, but IMO it is sacrilige. They are very convenient but the pods are hugely more expensive than loose coffee, you are very restricted on coffees and suppliers and there is all the plastic waste which is an environmental no-no

Do you mean Aluminium? The Nespresso machines use aluminium capsules and have a very large selection of coffees, the Dolce Gusto (Nestlé) machines use plastic capsules and have more restricted sorts of coffees.

cp – sorry no – should i stop working then?!

Current assembly has 105 parts and works a treat. File size is only 14.7Mb tho..

All i was trying to say is that it can work v well with a lower spec machine – currently on a Dell M6300

FEA and works running at the same time, all working just fine.

I have used tuneup with itunes, worked well for cover art and for names of tunes if i remember right.
    It is rather slow though.

Great when they’re working, absolutely shite when they’re not (sums up apple really). My sister “upgraded” to itunes 10 which isn’t compatible with her ipod nano of the latest generation.

i have the last version of the nano and changed to IT10…works flawlessly..

Arrange to meet with the police at the same time. Then you really can sit back & relax…
