    Mark,
I missed this as was off internet at christmas..

Was hoping your updates would continue, i also wanted to ask but was afraid.

Please keep us informed as to any updates. I work for a company run by an indian CEO and have a few indian colleagues (we have a joint venture with them) so if i can do anything it would be with pleasure.

You are someone who is very much an inspiration to me and my family. Keep on keeping on.

yes thanks it was but we measured just incase! Its a cheapo bike and was semi printed on the bb.. but not v clear.

    ah ok, many variables.

I measured the length of the spindle on the one that was going out, as i have always done.. then measured the frame and thought it’d be good…

its not an old bike, just a cheapo one.

Going to have a remesure and see.

I have never split a chain and reused the link-pin – its not meant to be done as far as i am aware..

I have never used a tool for a quick link ever – i dont see the need? you squeeze the plates together and then apply weight on the pedal with rear brake on to make it click into place (for stubborn ones), but 90% of the time no need to do this..

taking them off, use a bit of wire or bent spoke to hold the chain untensioned (easiest way) and again squeeze the plates together and push and they fall apart?

I would prefer to use these and know my chain isnt going to explode as i reused a link-pin..

great job! What gap do you have floor to bottom of the cedar? And what did you use round the edges of your roof?

    Hello again:

nice weather is here and the rush after 2nd child is calming so i have some free time ish..

wondering with regards to rafters and spans? Anyone got any good infos?

Im probably going to go with 80×60 for the walls – probably too much but tricky to get other dimensions here that would work.. But the roof im not sure what to go for. The free span is 2.5m. Anyone?

    thanks in advance

    hello,

question for a numpty like me – how do i now find posts that i have posted in – i can find ones that i have started but no longer easily ones that i have responded to?

i can see them but they are all in a list mixed up and i cant just click on the thread title to find it again..

and if i find an old thread its always been chopped to bits – like the first few pages missing and all photos missing?

    is this normal?

<span style=”color: #444444; font-size: 12.8px;”>If you make a sliding frame on the length, I can’t see how you will avoid having a hard point in the middle.</span>

well the current proto works, and is comfy so i dint see the issue in that really. i see the point but i cant get around that really. camping is of course a compromise. just need a comfy mattress..

yikes! i hadnt seen the prices.

ok wood it’ll be. i have the basframe made for the back, will just fix the wood slats onto that.

    thnaks!

we weigh 65 and 58kg so not much..! the rear satic frame is fully supported but the sliding part would rest upon the end of the static frame and then have front feet to support it.

refining the wooden one i had done – no – it was a copy of the amdro bed and it was a faff to deploy and cut out the rear view mirror. My wife couldnt put the bed out and when i did it meant going from in the van to the outside. With the sliding bed, it can be made up from inside.

ive been trying to design a wooden one with slats and i probably should stay with that idea.. cheapest and relatively easy to construct. I just need to get round the guidance for the sliding parts…havent had the lightbulb moment for that. Ideally i need to be able to prevent the sliding part from lifting out and be able to lock it in position as well when its open.

    i’ll see – thanks for the ideas/suggestions.

yeah ok forget i mentioned the condesnsation! stupid idea..

    i was looking here: https://dragonplate.com/

    and here: https://www.rockwestcomposites.com/connector-accessories/carbonnect

for inspiration. clamping carbon tubes? I wasnt going to clamp them as such. If using the rock west type solution there is an alu insert – i thought it looked quite neat solution..

Maybe not but weight is an issue I’m trying to ‘fix’ and it is lighter.

    Can’t edit the last one…

also to reduce the bare metal in the van with regards to condensation..

    scotia

Well, I’ve done the first bed in wood and it was too heavy and cumbersome to deploy..

the second is currently in Alu but I’m trying to make it lighter and a better design…

just trying to to find an easy way to join the tubes..

so im kind of doing a similar one to the OP.. the base isnt the same but the walls seem to be similar. How does one stop the OSB on the wall (with ends on the bottom) from absorbing moisture? i’d planned to have my structure, then ply then dpm then breather battens and larch.

MH: well im just new to this so am trying to figure out how to finish once rafters/board go down with the epdm. Im trying to figure out if i want an overhang or not, and if so how to finish the underside of this?

Im going (so far) with a water tight building in a similar vein to surfers summerhouse with a rainscreen in larch. This larch isnt really functional as i intend it to be waterproof already.

Im also unsure how to finish the waterproofing at the top & bottom.. or does it just get battened to the structure and thats it?

DD – sorry i didnt see this.. uhm im not sure.. a bit lost to be honest.

OP – have you finished yours yet?! Have you got details of how you have dealt with the sides meeting the roof?

Shed is back on – i’ve gone through about 4 designs as the location changes all the time. We’ve now fixed on a site that doesnt annoy the neighbours..

I have been looking at various threads and on the web for advice on how to build… its a nightmare to try and pick through the does & donts..

Does anyone have a list of things to do, im thinking especially doors/door jambs, windows, roof, overhang or not, how to finish between walls and roof.. AlexSimon? Mcmoonter? Tymbian?

where does one get this info?! The terminoligy for the parts is sth im missing too!

AS – did you manage to get a list together as you talked about in your thread?

i have a shape that may well be a nightmare but i cant do anything about it. I have my reliable festool tracksaw and router though so should be ok.

i wouldnt bother questioning who it was that slowed the process down to 3months, but it might not be the german side of things?

It doesnt really change your day so why make the point?
