3 psi front and 4 psi rear in snow last night.

7 psi for rocky and rooty stuff in summer.

BB30 bottom bracket and crankset installed backwards. Normally work with the bike in a stand but was doing it this time with the bike upside down. Spent a while wondering where the derailleur hanger had gone before I realized my mistake. …

In iOS just choose “add” in find my friends (or choose share location from contacts or messages app). You can choose to share for 1 hour, until end of day, or indefinitely. Once you added someone in the app, you get the notify option to set up geofencing notifications

Find my friends has exactly the same timeout functionality. It also does location based notifications.

In the mountains they do use coarse grit as you suggest, but in the lowlands, it’s normally salt. The Rhine valley near Basel is actually a big salt producing area and has been since Roman times. There’s still a huge plant in Möhlin and the famous salt water thermal baths in Rheinfelden.

In my previous post, I mentioned road climbs up to Gurten. I meant Gempen. (Gurten is a DH trail near to Bern)

Lovely area to explore on the road. Several routes up Gurten easily accessible from the centre. It’s about 400 vertical meters. Otherwise, just explore Basel Land. It’s littered with deserted farm roads and 200 vertical meter climbs. Strava routing and heat map will sort you out.

Regarding ice, we use salt, not grit. Far more civilized.

There has been a quantum shift in our expectations.

We now expect by default to be happy, to be rich, to have an interesting and fulfilling job, to be healthy, safe and for life in general to be easy.

The disparity between the expectation (heavily influenced by the media) and the grim reality, combined with increased awareness of mental health, is driving the explosion of depression, anxiety etc.

Hard to follow exactly what you’re on about, but emissions is standard parlance for regulated process by-products. Not every “emission” is by default a pollutant.

Piecostomus is absolutely right. Assuming there’s no play then it looks ok.

Enjoy the new bike and particularly the silence until the BB30 bottom bracket starts to creak like crazy after a couple of thousand kms.

Weak pound likely to mean that global surplus will be flogged elsewhere this year.

Many Japanese toilets can’t handle a larger than average western dump. A halftime flush is recommended if you have sufficient sphincter control. As a vegetarian, this advice might be very helpful, specifically if you are laying down a billet with monocoque construction.

5 years for me this December since I reclaimed my life from alcohol. Our alcohol dominated culture still bemuses me. Still get cravings a couple of times a month, mainly for ale, white wine or champagne and I can still recall exactly the taste of all drinks, even specific vineyards and vintages.

Was at a wine festival today but oddly never even for a millisecond thought about having any.

Alan Carr worked for me in case anyone else has a problem.

Myself and my wife have had this done. I’m somewhat boringly 100% European, 60% British/Irish and the rest French/German/Scandinavian. There’s 0.3% Sardinian thrown in as well.

My wife’s is much more interesting with bits and bobs of many ethnic groups, broadly matching what we know about her family history.

The health side of the analysis is also very interesting. Done by 23andme.com

Hmm, don’t see any of them so far. Is my “P” better than your “P” or are they not activated in mobile Chrome?

Fatbike night ride in the snow with a full moon. Temperature -4degC so everything crisp and dry. It was perfect.

I can imagine that it will be a useful safeguard when turning right (on uk roads). I have poor peripheral vision so my glance over the shoulder needs to be done very slowly in order to process the information. This device should help (but then again, a mirror also works and is considerably cheaper….)

Hit a cat, in a forest, in the dark, on a fatbike, full-on, with my front wheel, at speed, running a 4.8″ Surly Bud. It ran off with no obvious impediment.

Just soften the tyres so that they deform into/around the gutters and strap down with some cheap straps. I always loop the straps around the metal sub-frame of the rack rather than through the channel in the guttering – should avoid causing any damage this way.

Check the weight limit of the rack if you’ve got 3 fatties on there though.

Maybe it has migrated to my pits. Why doesn’t my crotch smell as much? I can get fairly close for a sniff, and it doesn’t smell owt like my pits.

…and that’s the whole point of the Charlie Hebdo brand of satire. They want to challenge you to see beyond the obvious. You can certainly argue that this is insensitive but in this case, it’s our reaction that is being mocked, not the migrants/refugees/Aylan.

Utterly useless in very cold (<-5°C) conditions but effective for the rest of the year if you start with a super clean chain. You do need to pay attention to the jockey wheels though since they have a tendency to get gummed up quite quickly with the wax.

E-bikes are fantastic but they are motorised vehicles and need to be regulated as such.

Not diminishing their achievements, just think that Tinkoff must be building up to a new twitter meltdown. He tried to entice the “big 4” to compete at all 3 GTs and they told him to get lost. Now at the Vuelta, they’re all there except Tinkoff’s matador.

It’s interesting that many thought that the Vuelta moving from Spring to late summer was a mistake at the time. Now it seems like the right move with the recent confirmation that a Giro campaign is seemingly incompatible with TdF victory.

The big loser here seems to be Tinkoff (and to a lesser extent Contador)

After all the pre-season hype about GT triples and doubles, Contador flopped in France and will be absent in Spain when all his main rivals are present (remains to be seen if they are similarly “fatigued”)

The current Swiss trend is to have no center line in built up areas, often with wide cycle paths on either side delineated by dashed yellow lines.

The effect is similar to what is noted above. You don’t get traffic squeezing past you whilst trying to stay on “their side of the road” and passing vehicles tend to leave more space. Additionally, people tend to drive slower since they feel that they are sharing the road rather than having a lane of their own.

Another heavy sweater and frequent cramper here.

My experience is that hydration, salts and electrolyte potions can help delay symptoms however the key is to train the body to operate beyond the normal point where cramps sets in.

Learning how to stretch on the bike and varying your riding position can also help.

EDIT: slight numbness in the foot/lower leg is my “tell” that the cramp is coming. Once it sets in, I can get it anywhere in the body.

Vöckler looks like a 60 year old in that pic above. Housewives’ favorite transitioning into OAPs’ darling?

Valverde’s been very quiet. Expect to see him having a dig today
