I hate it and now always turn it off, it’s all about throttle control, running nearly 400lb/ft so it does like to spin a bit as well.

What makes Rossi so good is making a bike do things it shouldn’t be capaple of doing, not just riding to perfection but pushing beyond that and finding something else….. on the TT that’s not a good idea and probably why he said he wouldn’t want to do it.

Two weeks ago today I was up Cwmcarn all day padded up but didn’t fall off, I decided to ride home and chucked all my gear in a mates van, headed back along the canal and then onto the road about a mile before my house where some tool in a mondeo decides to pull out in front of me leaving me no choice but to bail onto the pavement.

I managed to shave a nice patch of skin off my knee at least 5mm deep and could only get back on the bike yesterday. I won’t bother with shins but I’m getting some knee pads to wear all (most) of the time…

Has anyone with worn stanchions thought of having them stripped and hard anodized rather than buying new?

I guess if the wear was too bad it would be too late but maybe an option if they are just showing the early signs.

Oh and I ordered a sale item the other day only to be told 3 days later the price was an error. but they still took my money and had to wait 3 more days for a refund.

Service is fine but I think they have gone downhill.

The main thing is their prices on pretty much everything are no longer competitive, I think they rely on people thinking oh CRC are the cheapest (which they used to be pre credit crunch/flood sale) and not checking elsewhere.

Another thing that really grabs my goat is the displayed sale price, only to click on the item and find it is some really obscure fitment and what you want is full RRP, but I guess that is fair enough….But recently I’ve noticed them advertising a sale price then when you click on it the price is higher….and there are no product variations so they are basically lieing.

I’ve probably done about 30 ‘ghetto’ setups and the only 3 tyres I couldn’t do were Panaracers, a smoke, rampage and a fire xc. The fire seated just about and inflated but blew off the rim after a few minutes use.

They fit way too loose and I can easily fit a fat finger under the bead when fitted, even with double rim tape and insulation tape build up the gap.

It’s a shame as I really like Panaracers but couldn’t go back to tubes, Maxxis on the other hand are great.

You are probably thinking of certain hubs with hope floating rotors and fox forks. No problems with hope hubs though.

Middleburn chainrings are the best out there IMO, but I’ve found the hardcoat doesn’t really last any better than the anodized ones.

Wouldn’t the wheel try to remove itself when you brake?

Yep just tighten the nut on the other end of the axle untill you get enough resistance on the QR lever.

They are the same except the XT has 2 or 3 more sprockets mounted on the alu carrier, therefore lighter.

I’d say Hadley, reliable, easy to service and the bearings are ultra smooth, I can spin a wheel with a finger and it will still be spinning a few minutes later. I’ve got the 72 point engagement rear which is pretty quiet but they do a 36 pt if you prefer a clicky hub with a slower pickup….The only downside is the price but not too bad from the states.

I’ve never had much luck with non UST kevlar bead running ghetto, out of the tyres I’ve tried Maxxis wirebead are the best.

To help seat/seal the bead I always pump the tyres up to 60psi+ and then go for a decent ride.

If you want to go to Cwmcarn get the train to Newport then you can get the Ebbw Vale train which stops in Crosskeys (right next to Cwmcarn), or just ride up the canal from Newport which takes about 1/2 hour tops.

Get some trim tape from a motor factors, it’s used to stick side strips, badges and number plates etc so plenty strong enough.

Spoon it will go rubbery at first but if you keep slopping it on it will come off eventually, and that’s with Ral powder.

I’ve used nitro on powder coated car wheels and it is slow going, you’ve really got to pile it on repeatedly, I find a brass wire brush is the best balance of getting the bubbling slop of and not damaging the metal underneath.

Now I just get them alcohol dipped which isn’t much more expensive than a big thing of nitromors.

Get some panel wipe, it’s only about £7 for a gallon from any decent motor factors.

I’ve seen this before with a google screensaver, an adobe flash update renames the flash.exe to something different…. so it looks like you have out of date software that is looking for an old version of flash…All I did was change the filename back to the old, problem solved.

If it’s not google software just renaming it may well fix your problem anyway….Otherwise you need to update or remove the old prog that is looking for the old flash.
