Cheers, yeah tell me about it, they looked good on the website in signature Jeff Lenowsky green, more like vom yellow.

I've only used them twice, no squeaks so far…I got them in the CRC sale with no pins so at the moment I've just got grub screws around the outside of the pedal, they feel damn good though.

My guess is the hard drive has developed bad sectors, download seatools on another pc and burn the image to a cd, then boot from this and run the long test.

I doubt Gordon Brown would fit in a jiffy bag so I guess it would need to be a large box.

I'd recommend Belgom Alu followed by a good paint sealant like Chemical Guys Jetseal.

That's what I use on polished car split rims that are exposed to the elements 24/7, that will last about 2 weeks in the winter and any dirt will pretty much just rinse off. Keep up with it and you should be able to just top up with the sealant and skip the polish.

Otherwise POR-15 make a very good clear coat designed for polished metal.

Yeah the fly by wire setup will cut the 'throttle' when the brake is applied.

The only thing I miss about petrol really is the sound, the modern diesel can do everything well enough and not cost a fortune in doing so.

I'm currently building up a 600kg mk1 polo/240bhp 2.1l 16v trackday bitch, do the maths on the bhp per tonne…. but after all the years of the fuel bills and repair costs I don't miss a petrol for day to day use one little bit…

Snaps – No way I didn't know that, the Turbo Dynamics is a better turbo anyway, more potential than the VT2.

Mine was all done on a budget, turbo £350, FMIC £375, exhaust done by a friend £200, custom map £340.

£750 that will be for the Helix clutch, which I don't really rate, had one on my VR6 and it only lasted about 5k miles, it's a motorsport clutch and not designed to last forever. I'll probably go for a SPEC clutch and single mass flywheel when mine eventually dies, either that or good old Sachs.

It's a BLT so newer than the ASZ, basically the same thing though, the standard KKK turbo is good for about 170bhp, the Garrett VNT-17 a bit more.

Pretty much what you said, Forge FMIC, 3" turbo back exhaust, Allard hybrid turbo, EGR removed, a few small breathing mods and a custom map(2 bar). Originally the torque was held back to protect the clutch but have since gone back for more….Now also got h2o/meth injection which works nicely – max boost and torque at 2300-2400rpm.

Mine's a Skoda but same as all the other VW/Audi/Seat.

LMK if you want a print out, it's no rocketship but it embarrasses some quick motors and is ultra reliable.

As for economy it's the torque that does it, you can just surf on the top of the torque wave so to speak, even giving it some I still get above 30mpg, my overall average is high 40s.

    Stumpy –

Pretty sure the mk2 TT is the A5 shared platform.

My 1.9 pd130 has been running near enough 240hp and over 330lb/ft(now nearer 390)since 7k miles, now coming up 30k. The only thing to go wrong in that time is a wire snapped on the map sensor, still even got the original standard clutch.

The more the engine has been tuned the better the economy has got.

The 140 is good for upto 200bhp and 170 sans DPF upto 235bhp with a few tweaks, after that it's hybrid turbo time.

    There's a guy with an A3 2.0 sportback running 330hp and 490lb/ft.

I think a VAG 1.9 PD lump would work really well in an Elise, have seen plenty with 1.8t fitted so definitely do-able.

I have an Audi TT (2.0l petrol, manual short shift box)…….And handles about 100 times better than any BMW 1 series or Golf.

So a golf in hairdressers clothing handles 100 times better than a Golf why exactly? I'll give you lower COG….

A load more stuff must have gone on Friday, checked Saturday and there wasn't much left.

There were loads of work stands proper cheap, IIRC the Park one was £70 and there was an X-tools for £25. :(

Yeah it's got the VW 1.8l lump, it was originally going to be VW badged but VW pulled out of the joint venture so Porsche released it.

I really fancied one to put my throttle bodied valver lump in but went for a MK1 Polo in the end for some insane power to weight ratio fun. The Audi 5cyl turbo lump is another popular conversion.

I actually prefer the 924, especially if it looks like this.

You'd lose a fair bit going to an RP2 or RP23 from the DHX Air.

KCNC probably, I got a pair for about £14 from the far east on the bay to replace my completely worn originals, they seem fine.

Cheers, I can't wait to get it. :D

That looks lubberly, are you going for 135mm/73mm or 150mm/83mm? I had great fun removing cranks and BB repeatedly.

I've got the narrower setup and have got a pretty good chainline using a 1mm spacer on the driveside bb cup and no washers between the lg1 and iscg tabs. Had to file the back edges of the lower plastics too, although that was the lg1 non +, you may be ok.

Nomade sell on Pinkbike as well, have had some real bargains from them in the past, this is the latest, I paid £505 all in by not going through the bay.

I've never got on with Skenes, I remember asking if they had any used/ex demo frames only to be told they don't touch them as they are all cracked or damaged in some way…oh ok…

I tried my 36 Van Rs on my Bullit but I found I was bottoming them out a bit too easily, otherwise it felt spot on. Have Totems on it now but I think your setup should work well.

Were the 55s off Nomade by any chance?

I'm waiting on my new Banshee frame for an AM build, it took lees than 48 hours to get from Canada to East Midlands airport now it's been there for 3 days damn it….still need wheels though so not such a biggie.

Ooh nice, are they 55s or 66s? I've gone back to 180mm forks on mine now…

Yeah I'd go for Hope floaters if I went for 6 bolt hubs. I don't mind spending a bit more for a superior product but there seems to be very limited and conflicting info out there on the pro 3s.

Hmmm food for thought, although I do need rotors so in reality it would only cost me £25 more for the Pro 3, still not worth it?

Ah I need to order today I think I'm going to go with the SPAM4s, but now I can't decide between EX721s and Flows, would the Flows stand up to my 15st heft doing 3-4ft drops to flat?

    schrickvr6

Yeah I spotted that a few weeks ago, was going to buy from there untill I spotted these prices searching for info on the AM4s.

Edit: On the Flows, EX721s etc it works out about £22 cheaper as delivery is free.
