You may well be better off with a coil shock as the general consensus seems to be the the DHX Air is inferior to the RP23.

I've recently swapped the RP23 for a Roco TST R coil and apart from the extra weight it is better in every way.

How much do you weigh and what psi are you running in the shock?

    Not 100% but I think it's 190x51mm

I have an 09 RP23 shock in this size for sale if it's any use.

If you havn't already it might be worth trying glucosamine tablets or powder, it worked wonders with my old cat and kept him going for a good few years. Eventually he had a tumour in his eye and we had to let him go, We'd had him from when I was 11 to 30yo. I was devasted to say the least but it wasn't fair on him to keep him going, that's just being selfish…. Unfortunately had the same scenario lately with my lovely gran who we buried today.

A few others to look into there, looks like the Soul is out then, 456 and Blue Pig I'm not overly keen on, as good as the Alpine is my brother has one so I just don't want to have the same bike.

All the custom frames I've looked into seem to be around the wrong side of £1k which is way more than I want to spend, I don't think I could justify spending more than £400-500ish, ideally less.

I think I'm almost set on the Chromag now but might have to look into 2nd hand or importing a frame, I emailed Shorlines on Monday and still havn't had a reply…There's only the large in the CRC sale and Im not sure if I need a medium or large.

I can't tell any difference from the full Saint setup on my other bike, I've got an XTR lever, caliper and 160mm rotor rear, and the XTR Saint combo on the front. In fact it's so good I'll probably drop down to a 160mm rotor on the front, save a few grams.

Yip I use an XTR M975 lever with a Saint M810 caliper.

If it's bare metal and you're spraying it you'll need acid etch primer.

Boost pressure and bottom out have quite a big effect, from softest being low psi and bottom out chamber wound out, to firmest high pressure and bottom out wound in fully clockwise.

Is the front wheel on the floor? If it is stick an old yellow pages or something underneath it, or just tilt the saddle back…

No arguments here for a change, typical in other ways tho, my 97yo gran came out of hospital 3 days ago after a bad chest infection, then got a call in the middle of the night to say my dad had taken a fall and was about to undergo emergency surgery to relieve a blood clot on the brain, luckily was successful but also a mid sixties dementia sufferer who seems to be getting worse fast….Yesterday my gran admitted back into hospital with almost tropical fever symtoms, thought to be MRS A(again)so nursing home and hospital pretty much all yesterday and again this morning.

Anyway wasn't too bad a day under the circumstances, after getting THE chat from the consultant in the hospital she went and ate a massive christmas dinner, ice cream and had two cups of tea to wash it down lol. I've lost count of the amount of time she's been written off and fights back like some kind of super sweet granny terminator.

Anyway chin up, I've got some new bike bits, have eaten some awesome tucker and will hopefully have a chance to get out on the bike tomorrow. :D

The boost valve only effects the last half of the shock travel and should have no bearing on how the shock "feels" in the initial stage, that's the Pro Pedals job!

That's what Fox say but it's not true, boost pressure and bottom out effect the whole stroke, have a play around with the psi and see how it even effects sag in a big way….

In the condition you've described I'd say £170-£210.

If you file the locating tab off the mech cage you can use a normal jockey wheel, the wheel itself will sit a few mm lower but shifting seems fine.

I've got a 72 point engagement Hadley and it's nearly silent compared to my Pro 3. I've not used one but I guess the 36 point Hadley would be more clicky.

£600 to spray a bootlid is an insane price….I'm guessing that's a screen out job, which is probably bonded and needs breaking to get out?

Yeah the mounting hardware, what some people seem to refer to as bushes.

The VR is now sadly gone, ended up spending silly money just keeping the thing on the road, did have 282/286 split duration schrick race cams, schrick inlet which was eventually ditched for a cut n shut 2.9l manifold as it was holding the power back, big valve head, bored tb with quattro butterfly, mahle pistons 3.1l, baflled alu sump, knife edged crank, peloquin diff, VW motorsport shifter etc etc. Damn I miss that car, especially the sound approaching 8000rpm.
