Interesting how most of the press have edited this bit out of Fergies post match comments.
…why do people pander to him?

The thread was started to point out that Fergie was debatably ungracious in defeat but mainly how heavily edited his comments were essentially snipping out the bit that makes him look like a bad looser. That, I thought, was worth a discussion.

I heard all the comments the OP quoted on Sky and have read them in full in the sports pages of both newspapers I’ve looked at today. The OP also (obviously) heard the full quote somewhere, so I’m not really convinced of the argument that the press have pandered to Fergie and selectively quoted him to make him look better.

from a Palace fan, so no bias either way.

There seems to be a rancorous hardcore of acrimonious misanthropes that are determined to prevent any abstract discussion or exchange of ideas, preferring instead to steer all threads into perpetual debate over minutiae..

We’re going to need some XXXL placards for that slogan at the demo. Might need to carry them in pairs…

Saying that, they are 5 points clear of relegation with a game in hand which seems like loads.

Don’t count on it. I remember a year when palace were 9pts clear with 3 games to go and still went down 🙁

I still cringe when I think about my first day at University in the early 1990s. I opened a door for a female student who promptly got on her soap box and lectured me on women’s rights – in front of hundreds of other students….

I think that a loud: “**** off; I’m not being sexist, I’m being polite.” would help defuse the situation.

Something similar happened to me in Canada a couple of years ago. In response I came over a bit Michael Winner and told her ‘No need to get your knickers in a twist love – i thought you were a bloke’. In my defence she was quite butch and in some bulky ski kit.

I’ve got one of those frames too. Bought it in 1999, had red Bomber Z2s originally, 63mm I thought – deffo less than 80mm, still got them in a cupboard somewhere. Still ride it though i think only the frame, v brakes and rear mech are the only original bits remaining. Like souldrummer i’ve got Float 100s on it now.

One table for your A and B values, a second table for the summary values using the SuMif, Countif and AverageIf functions.

Then in the values table add a third column calculating the deviation of the B value from the average B value using a vlookup on A to the summary table.

In the values table add a fourth column calculating the square of the deviation.

In the summary table add a column summing the new squares of the deviation col using sumif.

In the summary table add column dividing the sum of the squares by either the countif total (for a population StDev) or the countif -1 for a sample stdev.

In the summary table add a column taking the square root of the previous mean squares column to give the std dev.

Cross your fingers that you don’t have a circular reference then plot your graph.

    No. I’m not.
Doctor tells me that if I’m eating enough fibre they should float. I’ve tried everything from porridge to veg to fruit to bouyancy aids but the little turds (and not so little some of them) still head straight to the bottom of the bowl like they’re wearing little concrete booties. 🙁

Stick it in a bag of rice overnight – that’ll take any moisture left out of it. Worked for me in the past.

I thought it was just me – 28″ Sony Trinitron 4:3. Cost £70 second-hand about 15 years ago. Maybe it’s my age or background but I just find it hard to buy new stuff when the old stuff aint broke. I think I’m just tight.

I’ve been doing yoga classes once or twice a week for the past 6 months, and really feel the benefits. Like Jimmy says, it can be quite hard work. Can’t help with videos I’m afraid but personally as a beginner I’d prefer classes with a good teacher who checks and corrects your postures so you know you’re getting the most benefit. A lot of gyms do classes.

Hopefully heading back to Red Mountain BC around March – small but awesome.

I’d like a change from a doing a week here and there at the big Alpine resorts – a couple of years ago I did a road trip in Norway taking in about 4 different hills and I’d like to do something similar again, off the beaten track a little (but still in Europe) – anyone got any bright ideas or recommendations?

I can’t understand why no one has chosen to make a similar film about chubby brit mountain bikers, based on STW.

Hmmm, on second thoughts that would be ****.

Hmmm, i think this might have legs. Evil oil company threatening to exploit the pristine wilderness and trails of the Surrey Hills, a double-dealing collaborator within the Friends of the Hurtwood, all that stands in their way is a lone ‘all-mountain’ rider trying to redeem himself for selling out his team in his previous life in corporate IT …an MTB remake of Seagal’s On Deadly Ground.

Don’t think Dawkins was talking about the Pilgrim Fathers but the Founding fathers i.e the guys who put together and signed the declaration of independence or the constitution. How many of the them were atheists though i have no idea but i doubt if it was all of them – isn’t there somehting about ‘One nation under god’

See that wooded hill in the background ? That’s Croham Hurst Wood, site of a round barrow burial ground, and it’s at the top of my road – a few hundred yards away. Plenty of single track there, and all about 5 mins bike ride from East Croydon station. It’s not a very large area though, but there’s loads more nearby. Few people who don’t know Croydon realise that.

    Shhhh!

Played a few rounds of frisbee golf when hanging out in the mountains in North Carolina. Bizarrely my local park here has a frisbee golf course set out, with proper chain basket ‘holes’. Only seen it used once, by a couple of guys who each had a whole quiver of frisbees, just like a set of clubs I guess.

At one school we used to play a game called Kingpin. Played with a tennis ball and hands (rather than raquets) with 6 players in a 2×3 grid, marked King, Queen, Jack, Dunce, Dunce 1, Dunce 2. King served, then players smack the ball about like 6way tennis – ball had to bounce once in your square then into someones else’s. If you messed up you went down to Dunce 2 and everyone moved up one. No winner, object was just to get up to King and stay there as long as possible. Never met anyone who wasn’t from that school who had played it.
