I don’t think it’s Brown’s/nulabour’s fault any more than those who preceded them.

UK was a notionally big economy mostly on the back of the city of london & the stock market, rather than actually DOING anything. Once “finance” turned out to be a big golden bucket of shite, we’ve got nothing left.

    My guess:

if it’s the po-lice, they probably just get carted off for interview (if they can demonstrate zero involvement/knowledge)

    if it’s another dealer, …

I’ve a 50:50 chance of “adjusting my pack/helmet/gears” even up the road climb to there, if we’re totally honest

so then, bash fans – does anyone ride right up the climb to the start of that vid

don’t think I’ve ever got half* way up it

I was thinking the trail looked different too, until I slowed the film to half speed, then it looked right.

    :(

weird, i’ve ridden that half a dozen times but don’t recognise half of it (same with the other vid posted last week)

nice vid though – not often you can actually see the trail in front instead of a front wheel

Given the minimal difference in over all diameter of the wheel … The wheel doesn;t touch the crown BTW … , why will this cause a problem for the fork

If that’s right, then you should be OK (as long as it can’t hit the down tube either) – until phiiiil’s stick gets you !

(TBH, I reckon it’d be a fairly kack fork design that allowed a tyre to fit under the brace but still foul the crown. downtube fouling depends on frame AND fork so more variable)

the wheel/tyre is significantly lighter than the 26″ set I had before, why will this cause a problem for the fork

light is no worry, as long as it’s strong enough

A ‘polite word’ just seems to fall on deaf ears….

    I feel bad now

If only I’d told him to **** off instead, his kids would still have a dad

and I’d still have a brother

the allen key is between tyre and brace, not tyre and crown. what people mean by the crown (here) is the very bottom of the steerer tube

you’re right, the tyre can’t hit the brace but as the fork compresses the brace and tyre move upwards towards the crown. at full compression the brace will likely be above the level of the crown but that’s OK since the brace sits in front (or soemtimes behind) the crown. the tyre, on the other hand, is right under it.

If your chosen wheel and tyre has a bigger diameter than the fork was designed for then the tyre might foul the crown (or even the down tube). if it does, the wheel might stop dead and chuck you over the top, especially as this will be on a major compression so you’d be unbalanced

If you really want to know, try taking the spring (or air) out of the fork & see if you can get the tyre to make contact

Well anyway this guy trying to provoke a fight that wasnt cool. And even the fact that You locked Your wheel is not an excuse for him to go ballistic

    I agree

*wonders a bit if there’s more to this*

Oh, and Fred – I had that with a bloke once. He was wearing the same shorts as me. I had a word but he wasn’t going to do anything about it. Anyway, I braked hard and as he shot past me I snapped his neck with a flick of my wrist. I was out of sight before he hit the ground.

never glanced back. at all. tosser deserved all he got

How many of the people condoning this behaviour have actually ridden in central london?

Damned right. Oh sure, I was in ‘nam in 64 but, no, I’ve never ridden in central london

Tell me maaan, do you still get the flashbacks ?

The lack of foldover is the key potential advantage that I see in the deerstalker.

ah, but have you considered ribbon-flutter ? Get cheesyfeet’s badboy up over 15mph and you’ll sound like a plague of locusts

with a sombrero there’d be none of that concern

    scaredypants

sombrero – keep your speed down though, foldover can be highly unstylish

simon, that relative ranking would be correct whether or not freshness was shown at all

so not literally meaningless but dependent upon a variable that is unknown to me and it’s not as informative as stating the times

    scaredypants

    stick it on and see

main concern would be if the top of the pads was above the top of the rotor
lesser concern would be if the bottom of the pads goes below the bottom of the braking surface

I want time of last post, not original post

That’s what it does now you muppet! Freshness of 30 seconds means that the last post was 30 seconds ago.

No, it’s how long the last post was made before you last refreshed the page (or does your browser magically add to all these freshness entries in real time ?). That makes it meaningless unless you know when your browser last refreshed, unlike a real “time of last post”, even though you still need to refresh.

so who says frame not a significant factor…

dinging the seatstay in didn’t change anything about chainsuck happening, it just stopped your frame from getting involved when the chain got “sucked”

    scaredypants
    Full Member

frames don’t cause chainsuck but can be susceptible to chainsuck damage (if stay is close to rings)

imbalance between wear on chain & rings, plus muck seem to be the main factors

essay here, or on Sheldon’s site I suppose[/url]

    thanks MrP

yeh, I think “interchangeable” on shimano’s site means identical

(do the axles look the same on both ? – surely pedal inserts can’t cause 100g weight difference)

not that clear anywhere but, yes, steel thread inserts get a mention (not on either spec sheet though – unless I just missed it while skimming)

665 is quite a bit heavier despite plastic bashring, so maybe a “bigger” axle too ?
