Just embarking on this. Want to replace our kitchen and knock through into the utility/dining room (old garage) to form small kitchen diner. Then I want to knock through the other side of utility to extend the kitchen diner and also build a small garage with internal access (other option is not to knock wall down but have a door only into garage and a seperate utility/drying room/shower room. This outside space is 7x3m. Have £40k to play with – not so sure if that is nearly enough.

It will be typical Wales to get a Grand Slam out of this. Personally I don’t give a stuff about Championships decided on who puts the most points on Italy

Be interested to know what Tired’s latest thoughts on schools opening is. I think a few pages ago he was suggesting after Easter? The government seem to be suggesting a one back, all back approach. Therefore surely the 8th is too early?

Interesting comparing Root’s stats to the great Viv Richards, now having played the same number of innings.

Worn my Buffalo on and off since 1996. Reminded what a great bit of kit is is when I dug it out during the recent cold weather. Only issue is I have the zipped front rather than front pocket version which in blue does make me look as if I’m on the way to an 80’s party.

It’s not quite like that. Many medical HM Forces work day in, day out within the NHS. And are now being deployed.

I see in the news tonight the Nightingales are being ‘readied’, in part by HM Forces.

Cut out sugar, pasta, bread, anything refined, spuds and other non green vege. Ate things like tuna salad, mayo and cheese in small amounts, and nice fish, pork or steak based meals; basically anything you can chuck mushroom, leeks and creme fraiche in. Drank more water and increased the biking. Didn’t really count calories.

Lost 2.5 stone in the 3 months up to Xmas, so I know what works for me. Hopefully the final push now.

Let’s just wait and see what’s happening with the Nightingale hospitals and staffing in the coming weeks….

Just bought a 3 yr old GP to replace a Alhambra. A step down in size, smaller boot and tighter fit rear seats with 3 car seats/boosters in place. Rear 2 seats are kids only and no sliding rear doors. Lower quality too.

Positives are a nice drive, the 120hp diesel is plenty, very comfy driving position, great mpg (10mpg more than the SEAT), and nice tight turning circle. Plenty of kit.

Brum is massive – I don’t miss the traffic nor driving standards. As suggested, the west parts are better for mtbing – I used to live in Longbridge which is being regenerated, and had door rides to Licky and Clent hills and beyond. Nice villages as Barnt Green. Closer in Harbourne is nice, lived there for a few years. Stay a few years until your kids develop the accent. If they do, move to Surrey. When that accent develops move to er, Plymouth and find yourself speaking Janner within 2 years 😆

Not part of official chub club but lost 11kg since 28th September. Cut out booze (mostly) pasta, bread, spuds while reducing calories. Carbs mostly coming from leafy vegetables and a few pulses. Lots of fish and curries with cauliflower rice and basically anything I can chuck coconut milk or creme fraiche into.

I used to live just outside Sunningdale – the whole area was rammed with golf courses. Used to cycle across Sunningdale and Wentworth and all the players were courteous to riders and walkers alike – it seems gone are the days that anyone within a mile of someone teeing off had to stand still for 5 minutes or face the wrath of some club elder. The average age of players seemed to be about 45 at a guess.

I’ve obviously got more exploring to do around Sheepstor and the Reservoir. I’ve done the Plymouth, Princetown, Burrator, Pipeline loop but find the widowmaker BW or the one down to the scout hut (now MOD), not much fun on a HT after the first time.

I can guess what my sister in law is doing this weekend, who lives in an area under stricter measures. Driving out of the lockdown area to drop her son off at grandma’s. Then going back and staying the night at her new boyfriends house. Basically, as was the norm during full lockdown 🤷‍♂️

Almost bought an underpinned house 13 years ago. On the face of it, wasn’t too bad to my untrained eye – a cracked drain had washed a small amount out. The survey mentioned it but gave no indication of the grief it would cause me or to get it looked at by a specialist.

Long story short, could not get the place insured. The vendor gave me the run around, providing cover insurance details which were either false or had lapsed years ago – I concluded there was no insurance. How would I sell it? There is always another house.

Not sure on the petrol options, but Seat Alhambra? 7 proper seats and basically a VW but with better trim and more toys. Your wife won’t like the turning circle though.

Read y’day that Cornwall is only at 80% of the summer norm, while other places are being overwhelmed. Took a day trip from Plymouth to north Cornish coast this weekend and it was as busy as I’d expect a nice late September weekend to be.

Beaches around Plymouth seem to have had a greater share of anti-social locals this summer.

I signed on a week or so before lockdown and it was all pretty painless. Due to Covid they are not doing interviews. The online process was very simple, but I don’t recall having to declare any savings. After a month or so I hadn’t heard anything, gave them a ring, and it was sorted within a few days indicating when i’d get paid and what back dated entitlement i’d get. So far, not been asked to provide any evidence of job searching.

If I remember 25 yrs ago, one of the big supermarkets were successfully prosecuted by the Environment Agency. Can’t remember the technicalities but the crime was shopping trollies in a stream, the argument being the supermarket was not doing enough to stop the pollution ie was part of the problem. Perhaps a similar test case could be brought these days?

Sunday and Monday took day trips to the Padstow beaches from Plymouth. Don’t visit often but plenty of room on the beaches even with the car parks full by late morning. The issue I found is the life guards with vey good reason keep you pinned into a very narrow bit of water which isn’t much fun when busy.

So then, the old CV. I’m 20 plus years out of date – where can I find the best CV writing guidance to make a start?

Bergtec out of stock so I’ll go for the Oneup – Pity only black and red.

Worth noting that it shuts at 8.30. You can park across the road in the B and M car park perhaps. Residential behind it but unsure what it’s like.

My Yari sit 10mm into it’s travel after having a luftkappe fitted. Explained to me it’s the fork sitting under its own weight. Once you go over a bump or get a bit of air the fork extends back to its full travel on rebound so the loss of travel doesn’t really matter in practice. Pumping the fork with only a small amount of air, pulling up on the fork brace to fully extend the fork and letting go should exaggerate and illustrate the fork settling under its own weight.

We moved from Sunningdale, Surrey to Plymouth. A vastly different friendlier world, and the better for it. Moors and beaches within 5 mins drive and the South Hams is lovely. Took my wife a while to get over the lack of Waitrose, mind. Also being the right side of the bridge means on a good run you can get as far as Birmingham in 3 -3.5 hrs.

Based on previous STW threads, yep do all that – go big or go home. Also if I recall doing it half naked helps and use a wheelie bin somewhere along the line.

Why use a professional when you can do it yourself.

I always joined the trails from Bagshot side. Safe easy parking and a few minutes along the access track and join towards the end of the red.

South Devon beaches seemed to be pretty empty compared to some of the honey spots on the north coast.

Just noticed that price drop. I run a 11-46 sunrace with a deore clutch on one and bike and need a goat link.

Am I likely to need a goat link on the second bike running 11-42 deore? (I don’t currently running 11-40 sunrace)
