I think for 3k you’d do just as well to give him the cash and set up some manageable repayment options.

If you really like him just set yourself up to take a bit of a hit and pay the loan off faster and let him pay you back over a longer term?

Depends how much you like your sister really :D

So then, has anyone reported people for iffy segments/times?

I’m no speed demon but this bloke is 6 seconds faster than me over 0.4 mile segment which isnt outside the realms of possibility but does43.8MPH sounds fishy to anyone else?

whats wrong with your current router?

Firmware upgrade might well kick it in to gear again – i’m a bit of a DD-WRT evangelist :D

You need to start eating a South Manchester diet, you won’t produce logs of that size eating nothing but houmous, seeds and ethically sourced free range quail.

The new generation of blackberries are crap.

I’m refusing to give my Bold 9700 back as the battery life on the new 9900 is shocking. I went for the 9700 on the grounds that it should have had the better battery life of the options we had.

Turns out I was right and the other options are worse (9790, 9900 and 9860 were on the list) It’s a proper smart phone, in the sense you need to charge it up every day!

Get an iPhone, i was a hater but a convert now, it’s just so easy to use and the UI has some thought put in to it.

600 notes will get you something nice south of the river.

I really enjoyed living on British road (BS33BZ), there were a couple of restaurants on west st that were really cheap and friendly, decent thai and an indian that could seat about 40 people between them, easy walk to north st pubs and bars for nicer eateries and only a 30 min drunken stumble back from town.

Everything from there to the river is pretty nice, things get more expensive once you get between North St and the river.

If you’re looking to get out to Swindon on occasion then you can go south out of Bristol and round the ring road (against most of the traffic) and then the A420 is a pretty clear run up to Chippenham (and good for a blast)used to take me about 40 mins in the mornings.

I cant believe people are knocking Bemmie :D

BS3 is a great place to live! Everywhere from British road to Southville, there’s a real sense of community, the vast majority of people are friendly. Since I’ve moved to Manchester and experienced Chorlton, Southville doesn’t seem anywhere near as pretentious/new age/hippytrehuggingwankyness as it did when I lived down south :D

I would move back there in a flash if we had family down there for babysitting duties!

First you start riding it during the week, then you start riding it for a couple of hours at the weekend and the next thing you know you’re sacking off your mates on a Sunday to go for a club ride and the MTB is sat at the back of the shed, behind your girlfriends bike…

I’ve got some of the BTwin tights (they’ve lasted well through the winter and are surprisingly comfortable)

I’m a large in them at 6’2 and ~33″ waist

Some might see it as cheating but maybe a small dose of Propranolol?

Calm you down nicely and you’ll just work your way through the interview :)

I’m 30 and was slightly overweight ~13st at 6’2″ while i was a field engineer spending £8 a day on fast food (maccy ds breakfast and KFC lunch!) and not exercising much.

I cycle the 6 miles to work now and eat all you can eat buffets 2/3 times a week – weight has dropped to just a shade over 12st.

I’m fitter, faster, stronger and generally flippin knackered all the time.

    And I love it.

Edit: took about 4 weeks to drop the stone.

    Sounds like an inside job.

Did you check there wasn’t someone in the bike locker before you put the bike in? :D

Condolences about the bike though, mines stashed away at work in a much much less secure fashion and now you’ve got me worried. Where in east London are you?

Are the wireless devices running DD-WRT? if not that may well smooth some of your issues out (and give you loads of things to tinker with)

mines only ~6 miles each way (i do it every day) but i’m loving my road bike. Don’t kid yourself, you will use it at weekends once you get the bug

I live in Sale Moor, commute in to central Manchester is 25 mins on the bike going straight through the water park.

Rent on my 1 bed flat is £500/month, I’m nowhere near the tram but can get in to Sale itself pretty easy and can get 90% of things i want locally.

Pretty tough to get out on the MTB as I dont have a car so rely on my mate with a van to really get muddy. Giving up the car coincided with getting my road bike though ;)

I could get my XL Scott Genius with wheels off in the back seat of my 2011 golf estate. Seriously dull car to drive in bluemotion guise though.

Worth it though as I kept having to drive to llanfairfechan for 30 mins work!

My gf has mondays off and takes our little un to these guys http://www.aquababies.co.uk/

She’s 18 months now and is happy jumping in off the side, turning round and holding on. Absolutely loves splashing about in the water, she’s probably got more confidence than it entirely suitable!

She cant support herself in the water yet but it wont be long.

I’m not sure how much we would have achieved without the aquababies lot, the instructor is pretty much #3 in the list of people that my daughter loves most in the world though.

I maintain an enterprise-grade SAN for a customer which contains sixteen 3.5″ SCSI hard disks; the total storage capacity is 2Tb. So even by relatively current terms, you’ve got eight full-sized hard disks in the palm of your hand there.

At the risk of geek pedantry here but you’re comparing apples to oranges!

The 15k RPM disks in your (i suspect rapidly ageing if they’re scsi rather than SAS) enterprise SAN are nothing like the 7.2k RPM disk that’ll be in the external HDD.

This stuff is blowing my mind though – Storage that know where it needs to be…

SC clearance will take a good while to come through (it normally takes them about a week to find the forms) then you can be looking a 3-4 weeks before you hear back.

DV obviously will take a lot longer.

Unfortunately for you there are a lot of SC/DV cleared guys in IT infrastructure already.

    You round Wiltshire way?

Croydon -> Aberystwyth (as far as Croydon as I could get) -> Croydon again -> Northampton (Uni/girl)-> Barry (for a girl) -> Pontypridd (girl kicked me out) -> Bristol (girl) -> Manchester

Still settling in here really, gf’s family were all round this way and our daughter was on the way.

If i could have moved them all to Bristol I would have – still missing BS3 in so many ways!

I’d go for the beemer as well, had the 105PS Golf bluemotion (estate) for about 45k miles and its pretty gutless, the quoted 105ps is on overboost i think? It was pretty good on fuel though.

If you’re at all worried about ended up facing the wrong way at a roundabout though maybe something FWD would be a better idea :D

Probably about 600-700 depending what I get up to at the weekend – More if I’ve got a badminton match in the week.

I’m not fat – I’d be curious to see at what level we start getting people that are fat in mins exercise/week stakes.

I really wouldn’t – My stepbrother made some pocket money in the home computer market but he was just eating into his redundancy from *insert UK IT giant here*.

He made a few more bob working for local companies as outsourced IT, setting up IP phone (asterisk?) systems for them. He was working ‘with’ a mate who lived about 25 miles away, although they were separate business entities they would pass work to each other if it was in the others patch.

After doing all the hard work setting up the company and growing the business he went back to doing his old job as a contractor for enough money to buy a house at 25.

Edit: I shouldnt have filled in the survey but i did :$

My daughter got hers for Christmas and she’s only 18 months now!

Got it on the grounds that she refused to get off the ones in Evans when i was there having a browse – It’s almost too large for her but she loves even walking around with it like a hobby horse and likes to wear her helmet round the house.

We got one of the Puky ones as they were the smallest (and had to get her a new helmet as her old pink one would have clashed with the red – new bike tart inc.)

Should add that my daughter is quite tall!

I got to work one day to realise i’d forgotten my trousers, had taken the week day onces out and forgotten to sling jeans in, Damn you dress down friday!

I walked down to new look and got some cheap jeans – got some very strange looks walking through manc at 0830 with cleats and tights on!

Work are being pretty good, on the days I’m in work for 0830 every day and they’ve just given me an extra half days holiday cos I was up till 10ish last night supporting west coast clients.

The plan once i’m settled in at work is to work from home Thursday and/or Friday which will pretty much eliminate the problem, at least at one end.

I’d love to go part time but i’d probably end up working anyway :D

Can’t believe so many have gone part time to sort this problem… If we hadnt moved up here to be closer to her family (who are admittedly being ace) I’d have just moved near to my retired parents who’d bite my arm off to look after her all week!

Right basics here – the public IP you have is the IP address of their router, the router doesnt know that port 3389 should be forwarded to the IP address of your mates computer.

They’ll be a NAT table somewhere in the config settings of their router where you can map ports to internal IP addresses.

Or yeah, use something like logmein.

I think you can request assistance though live messenger these days and that, if the router is playing nice will open the port in a ‘state-full’ fashion for you :)

I do about 15mph on my commute and that’s with a fair number of traffic lights slowing me down – had a road bike for a month or so.
