Give em a ring mate, Matt in the workshop couldn’t have been more helpful with me the other week. Ended up sending my 9 year old light back for repair, £30 and a couple of weeks later and it’s good as new

    if you’re in the classifieds : https://singletrackworld.com/classifieds/

and go into an advert it takes you to: https://singletrackworld.com/advert/forks-clearout-29-27-5-26/

If you “click back to ads” it takes you to: https://singletrackworld.com/adverts

which doesn’t exist and throws an error

Got the airliner in my enduro bike at the rear, it’s crap compared to the nukeproof ard ones on my ebike and they’re so much better.

The airliner rattles around in the wheel but was easier to put on.  I picked up the nukeproofs in the CRC firesale and didn’t notice that they were mullet ones – sweet baby jesus getting a 27.5 insert into a 29″ wheel was an interesting task, but got it done with a bit of trimming – It wasn’t like i could send them back!  We’re all running ridiculous low pressures now, it’s great. When i got a puncture that wouldn’t seal (i’d not topped up the sealant for ages) i rolled home on the insert.

Downside is that I definitely wouldn’t rate my chances of putting a tube in on the trailside.

I’ve picked up an XXXXL Radio Helium race BMX for £250, apart from the frame literally everything on it is brand new and never ridden. Only thing is now I have 2 BMXs and apparently need to sell one.

We did the west kernow way one october half term, was bloody lovely. Only issue is a lot of the camp sites are shut so need to phone and book ahead

I went with the recommended ones for my weight, mainly to try and reduce some numbness i was getting in my hands on long rides. Its done a grand job of that. That was nearly 3 years ago and think they might need replacing now

When the only witnesses to your crimes are your private security detail and the victim it’s really not that hard to get away with anything.

yep, that’s exactly what I told myself. Like I said, delusional ;)

I can assure you that old old thursday night rides were NOT 35km and 1300m of climbing! (360wh battery orbea rise, ran out of battery on between the beer garden and the car park)

Orbea rise here, 500+ km on it already and apart from the odd creak and rattle (and a dead charger, but that was I think the plumbers fault and replaced under warranty) it’s been faultless. My mates all have full fat ebikes, but i hang with them on all but the longest of drags. Techy climbs i can stick with them as they can’t get the power down. Heart rate while climbing isn’t that far off a zwift race and i’m definitely getting fitter. That was a pretty low bar this year though.

The most important thing is that i’m out every week again!

Mines tight across the back of my shoulders while i stood up, much more comfortable when you’re on the bike though, it’s weird.

Humanists UK used to send out little stickers for glass that read “Good without God”, seemed to work faily well.

Got to say though, the witnesses are always impeccably turned out, genuinely brings a bit of cheer and colour to my day when i seem them all dressed up.

Depends on her values and what she wants out of work.

If I was talented that way i’d be looking at joining a quant team in one of the big investment banks, do a couple of years there then QNT it up at a hedge fund for a bit and retire early

@harry_the_spider you need to get yourself on to here https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/holiday-cottages/find-a-holiday-cottage/callies-cottage/

You get a key to the castle and get to be there overnight, Pendennis is good, but the best over night stay is carrisbrooke on the Isle of Wight https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/holiday-cottages/find-a-holiday-cottage/bowling-green-apartment/ It was ace riding my bike round the castle after hours!

Does anyone know if there’s anything in the area to entertain a toddler?

Take the toddler over to the Garden House on lakes road, there’s a playground and animals to stroke and look at. It’s a really nice walk from the back of the car park in Marple Bridge to the garden house, then stop for a pint in the Norfolk arms afterwards

This was Flaine mid april 2023

We’re heading back there for new year, we did La Plange last new year and it was ace. Again with UCPA on a family plus week, we tried to get in at La Plange again bit it sold out, fully looking forward to Flaine again though, 4th time back in Grand Massif.

La Plange wasn’t too shabby at all

@sharkattack i’d be up for that, next couple of weeks are hectic though.

Could look at a group coaching session if there’s a few of us

In the usual spirit of ignoring what you’ve said… I’ve got a ring camera set up with an alexa routine that turns my alexa up to 10 and plays an alarm noise if it detects movement.

Something like this should be able to do something similar https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4667999?istCompanyId=a74d8886-5df9-4baa-b776-166b3bf9111c&istFeedId=30f62ea9-9626-4cac-97c8-9ff3921f8558&istItemId=ipxaatxxw&istBid=t

you could set it up to send you alerts on your phone/alexa device as well

Depends on the kid, my eldest would have been fine from 9, whereas my (now) 9 year old wouldn’t want to be left at home on his own, so obviously isn’t!

I tried on a pair of those polaris shorts, the fit was ridiculously bad… plenty of room round the waist but couldn’t fit my thighs or arse in them!

I wasn’t there when my Dad died, it was crap, but we’d already said our goodbyes and had to get back up north for the kids to go to school and all that. It sounds like your mum probably has a lot longer left than he did though, he was slipping in and out of consciousness so we said goodbyes when he was a bit more with it.

One thing i do remember is that near the end he was always cold and wrapped up in blankets, it’s bloody morbid, but my mum still has that blanket and she’ll probably be wrapped up in it as she dies and will feel like she’s close to him. What i’m saying is maybe get her a nice blanket.

    My whole family tbh

My mum has retired from international badminton this year at 69, she didn’t want to be one of those doddery old women on court, so took up golf last year.  She won the womens club champs this year.

My wife has just been put up for promotion, done all the training that’s needed for her CIPS professional development thing.

Youngest is living his best life, middle one has been coming out of his shell and started racing BMX and the eldest has gone through some tough bits the last couple of years and is starting to find her tribe

As someone who worked nights while at university (and still going out raving every weekend) I can sympathise.  I did all my uni work when it was dark, and still do my best work in the small hours.

Unfortunately if i do that i’m an awful dad and grotty, grumpy husband. Seeing as the only people that are really deprived of my ‘best work’ is my employer i’m normally in bed by 10:30 these days.

This is a good read https://www.additudemag.com/revenge-bedtime-procrastination-sleep-problems-adhd/

The excitement of seeing my kids at tue ejd of the day is rapidly replaced by anxiety that we’re going to be late to swimming/cubs/tennis/bmx etc because they’ve taken 15 sodding minutes to get out

I really struggle to get past my usual **** cars attitude on this, especially if it’s parked near/on a kids play area.

    Warsaw Modlin airport.

The London Luton of Poland, well over an hour to the city center  – That picture is the entire airport, in, out, baggage reclaim, passport control.

It’s effin freezing in winter and boiling in summer.

@scc999 thanks mate, if a new one doesn’t turn up next week I might take you up on the offer. They’re just too much fun to have em out of commission for too long.

That and the fact the only other (mountain) bike in the house is my large Rallon, and that has been stolen by my lanky 13 year old!

First issue that i’ve had, a knackered charger. Sent it back to the shop and hopefully they’re going to ship me out a new one, got ~70% battery left so going to play bettery roulette out with the lads this week!

Don’t suppose anyone in South Manchester has a 2022 charger I could borrow for an hour or two :D

I went OTB once and had one of those ^^ Evulsion fractures, little spur of bone where my rotator cuff attached on the outside of my upper arm.

I managed to carry on racing until I had to jump off the bike and push it up a hill out of a stream and that was a whole load of NOPE.  Then tried to take my top off before going to A&E because i didn’t want them to cut it off me, ****, got stuck with it half on/half off and had to ask a passing dog walker to help me out

Wait until they get into the over £100K bracket and start losing their tax allowance

Yeah, everyone i know in that bracket is just dumping it into their pension and waiting till they’re 55 to drawdown their pension tax free and pay off the mortgage.

They’re not allowed to add an admin fee anymore for cyclescheme.

I used the guys at https://www.e-bikeshop.co.uk/ for my C2W purchase, 2022 Orbea rise M10 reduced from 7500 to 5k, costs me 416 of my pre tax pounds. They were  the ones that told me that you’re not allowed to charge for cyclescheme admin fees any more.

We had a few lads like that in our group, they all got ebikes. Then i ended up as the only one without an ebike and, well. Now i’m an ebike **** as well, but we’re out every week again and mental health is back on the way up.

Ah @pat12 that’s not the best with the kids. My lad is 5 and was in the ESF Piou Pious at new year and they had him up and down a few blues. Absolutely terrifying as a parent as he’s now ridiculously confident.

Took the boys to the chill factor the other day and while they were checking my lift pass I didn’t notice said 5 year old taking himself to the top of the slope.

Was going to say Samoens, lovely little town, good lift up and back down the mountain. Morillon was a lovely place to stay but obviously not as much to walk to. We stayed with the Tasty Ski Company and the chalet staff were always happy to drop us off/pick up up to Samoens.
